At Last I own a Kitchenaid!

Have been wanting to treat my wife to one of these for ages and finally have. Cheapest on the net and very swift delivery. (two days) It now holds pride of place on the kitchen worktop. Here's to many more cakes, bread etc.

Sturdy mixer, but completely overpriced in the UK - they are only $199 in USA

This is a good mixer and will last you a long time. It is more sturdy than the Classic version, which labours a bit on heavier mixtures, e.g. bread or large fruit cakes. If you want a really sturdy version for a lot of mixing, get the K5 model (only in white), also available from Catering suppliers.

This is a prime example of how retailers and manufacturers selling a"must have" product hold the UK customers to ransom. The only way to stop this exploitation is to stop buying Kitchenaid products. This will force the cost down.

Look at other items produced for both markets in different voltages and you will see a much smaller variation in price than on Kitchenaid products. There is over 200% mark-up on the Kitchenaid Artisan for the UK market - totally ridiculous.


You can buy an Artisan mixer in the US for $199 (reg price is $349, but they are always on sale). $199 is approximately £100. Add the local taxes and it works out about £110. There is no way it costs another £240 to produce a 240 volt version instead of a 110 volt model and ship it to the UK and pay duty/VAT.

It isn't a good idea to get 110 Volt appliances for the UK. Step down transformers work okay with lamps, stereos, etc but not products like blenders and mixers.

However you can get the non-electric attachments on Amazon.com or at a US store you are there. Amazon.com delivers to hotels, as I have bought items in the US in the past. If you do this, I would suggest you pay extra for the expedited delivery in the US. Getting an extra mixing bowl and extra beater is worthwhile if you do a lot of baking and don't want to wash up all the time between batches. Kitchenaid accessories are very expensive in the UK, so check out the prices on Amazon.com before you go on holiday or if you have friends/family visiting you from the US.

Terrible. Doesn't even cut through tomatoes.

This is an awful blender. Dont be fooled by the endorsement of a famous chef.
The makers of this should be ashamed of themselves. This honestly struggles to chop through chopped tomatoes.
The high speed mini chopper is better. It can cut through onions, although mine broke after using it twice.

I agree with everything the other reviewer said. It looks smart, but is noisy (far too noisy). The jug is very thin & the lid doesn't mate smoothly (bit of pressure needed). Because there's no glass jug supplied with it, you can't see how the"mix" is progressing.

This is the best blender I have ever seen for nuking ice though. The blades are viscious & turn rock had ice cubes to powdered snow in an instant!

Only buy it if you want a noicy ice crusher!

COULD BE WORSE!

I like the design, but makes too much noise and can get very messy.
Buy it only if you are deaf and do not mind upsetting the neighbours.
Very fast. You will need an assistant to help you making juice.
Have everything ready, and watch out what you are wearing...can get temperamental.
A gadget if you are short of space, otherwise buy an all in one juice maker!

Not even value for money

We owned this mixer for 9 months until it finally died, but we were never very happy with it. It has 6 speeds, but most of them were the same speed. It finally stopped working after only owning it for 9 months, so it did not live up to our expectations.
