Beware....

These are not actually the 2.4x DVDs. If you order BC UK will send you 8x DVDs. Which is fine if they work in your DVD drive and a pain in the neck if they don't. Now I'm trying to wrangle a replacement from the company.

Great iPod protection - stylish too

Just ordered an iPod 160GB Classic (black) and thought I'd get a few bits'n'pieces to go with. Saw this aluminum case (with free screen protector) for not a lot of cash so thought I'd get it. It's of good quality, lined inside to further protect the iPod and out of everything I ordered, arrived first and within two days of ordering. This will definitely compliment your iPod Classic!

Quality Phone

One aspect of this phone not covered elsewhere,(and my sole reason for buying it)is the ability to bar groups of calls via the handset.Do you have family members constantly calling premium rate numbers or mobiles.Up to 6 dialling codes can be barred and therefore calls cannot be made to them. I currently have 0870,0901,07(mobile) all barred and my phone bill has dropped over £25 a month.

Some phone providers will bar premium rate numbers at source,(my provider Sky doesn't)however this can be inflexible.It may be you need to call say an 0870 number (nearly all businesses use these),if so you can remove the barring (pin protected) temporarily,then put it on again after your call.

On a slighly negative note the"one touch dialing facility" is actually two touches,you have to press and hold down the corresponding key (1,2,3,etc),this brings up your phonebook entry,and then you have to press the green dial key.Why Panasonic couldn't have made this the same as most mobiles, where you only have to press and hold the one key to dial I do not know,and how they get away with describing it as"one touch dialling facility" is a mystery.

Night mode is handy, whereby all incoming calls will not ring between times preset by yourself ( default 23.00 - 07.00),you can tweak the settings here by use of a ring delay facility ( callers ringing for more then 60 / 90 secs etc will get through,also you can categorise callers into groups and allow access to individual groups regardless of night mode settings. Very handy for close family.

I recently sold the more expensive Panasonic model for this and I believe this is the better choice. It has all the same important features, is ergonomically better (in my opinion)and only loses features that very few people would use (PC link etc). Let's be honest, how many of us want to import our MS Outlook contacts into our phone via the PC. By the time you've figured it all out you could have input all the numbers anyway

Finally for 0870 numbers (a modern day rip off) try web site"say no to 0870" it will often provide a proper"area code" number which will be free if you have a call plan with your provider.0870 numbers are excluded from call plans

Disappointing response from Palm Tech Support

I love my Treo 680, but recently my phone carrier, Orange, ceased support for it, which means that although I can make phone calls, I can't use the web or e-mail. I've been doing some online research but haven't yet found a carrier which specifically mentions the Treo 680, so I e-mailed Palm Tech Support, explained my problem, and asked if they could let me know which carriers do (or don't) support the 680. Their response? "Just find out for yourself." (True quote!) So although I would have given the Treo 5 stars, I'm going to have to deduct one for Palm's really strange idea of what constitutes customer service.

Overly complicated cheap kit

Maybe I'm stupid but the guide supplied gives very little help. Found the thing complicated to set up and the 'quick set up guide' quotes an online guide which is the same 'quick guide'. Went round in circles and lost patience. Works Ok in the car but very tinny and poorly made.

Cheap but sound quality only average

i bought these as a replacement for some other Sony phones that got damaged and have been using them on a variety of sources including my PC, DAB radio and a decent stereo.

The good points:
> They're cheap
> The lead is reasonably long
> They're light and comfortable

The bad points:
> The sound quality is not that good

The main problem with the sound quality is the muffled and thumping bass. yes, there is plenty of bass, but it's like listening through a cushion. It thumps, bumps but there is no real definition. The mid range is ok but vocals are somewhat distant and the top end is generally ok.

The MDR-250V phones are a much better bet.

Pink iPod Nano Earphones

What a fantastic gift to go with the Nano. My granddaughter loved them.
The company it-surplus was fantastic.

I don't know why people are talking about them scratching, not had any probs with that but then I do have a classic which is mostly metal.

I think they're great,a nice simple way to protect your ipod & it means you don't get a nice piece of apple design and then encase it in a bulky anorak case. Plus you get six, so I've given a few away too. If I'm sitting at a table or syncing or something I tend to use the sock as a sort of 'mattress' to put the ipod on to protect the back. It kind of cleans the ipod a bit too. I really like them, they're a nice simple solution, I have a similar thing for my ds.

One thing though... remember not to stick your ipod in your pocket upside down! once the sock has stretched a bit the ipod can work its way out if its upside down.

Worked first time

This arrived this morning and worked straight away once I had re-booted the computer. I've only had time to make a quick test call to my home phone but all seems well.

Only gripes: The software is a bit clunky with no indication of version number. I downloaded the latest version from their website as I couldn't find the version number on the package. The disk says V2.4 but Skype is at v.3.8.0.115 and SkypeMate is 2.0.0.32

The manual (as most seem to be these days) is rather vague but the phone is easy to use.

alternative to rubber and leather.

If you buy a sony walkman and put it in one of these you'll never have to take it out again. A well thought out design, letting you access to the headphones and wm-port jack at the bottom plus the reset button and strap hole on the sides and hold button on the rear while covering everything including the screen, and the buttons on the front have got a real sturdy feel to them. Like the other reviewer said the volume buttons do feel slightly recessed but it works and no major flaw. Also with the casing on it hardly feels (and looks) any bigger.

BT Verve 450

As well as it's pleasing design, this phone does what it's supposed to do brilliantly. Reception is perfect, and the speaker for hands free mode is very good. The buttons are clearly laid out, and for someone whose eyes aren't what they used to be, the number are clearly legible. Best of all you can easily copy all the names and numbers in your address book from one handset to the other. The only drawback is that the keys are not backlit.

Brilliant headphones.

EXCELLENT CANS. SPOT ON. CANT BELIEVE THE PRICE. WOULD HAVE PAYED 2 THE PRICE. ANYWAY STOP GABBLIN ON I'M AWAY OUT WITH THE DOG AND MY MUSIC. AS USUAL EXCELLENT SERVICE FROM AMAZON.TA VERY MUCH.

Quality

I was really surprised with the quality of this cable. Both ends are like pieces of jewelery with the logo engraved on the gold plating. There is no plastic used on the cable ends, it is entirely metal so the cable is quite heavy. Normally a sign of quality. Currently using the cable between my PS3 and Panasonic Plasma and I can't fault the quality, the picture is just mind-blowingly good! The cable itself is protected with a really tightly woven plastic jacket making it really durable. Overall this cable just looks and feels really high quality and I can't fault the performance one bit. For under £20, when I compare this lead to what some of my friends have paid £60 for, it is excellent value for money. I will be coming back for more when I get my HD-DVD player after xmas. Quality.

Good Little Phone

We've got three of these and have had little bother with them.

They feel a little lightweight but they drop well (!). Battery lasts OK but they're rarely very long off the charger and we're not trying the problematic hour and a half long calls of another reviewer.

Batteries if you do need to replace them are only AAA so don't need specialist replacements - one of our 3 was an ebay purchase which has had a new set.

You can't wall mount which is a shame - the holder sits the phone at a funny angle.

Phonebook is OK, caller ID picks the names up out of the list if it recognises it which is good.

So....they're working well for us and I'd recommend them.
