Parrot CK3100

After trawling through the internet and finding which bluetooth unit to buy, the only option was a parrot based one. However, the choice between a 3000 & 3100 LCD versin was the fact that I could see if the mother-in-law was calling !!!!

I purchased the CK3100 and a loom for my stereo and they arrived within 24hrs. Being quite a technical person installation was very straight forward. If you are handy with a screwdriver and take care on removing facias etc then this is a straight forward job. I located all the cables and control units by removing my glove box and putting them out of sight. The downside is the manual is very vague when it comes to connecting to your headset it does not tell you if you need an additional connecting lead from your stereo to your headset. Also, on some cars you need to swap over the two fuse carriers. This can be found online, but not in the manual. This sort of information you have to find out for yourself. If installation is an issue there are several automotive companies that will install the unit for less than £200. BMW charge £325 !!!!!!!!

After installation which I did in a very slow methodical manner (which took me an hour) I put the unit to test. Operation of the unit along with pairing is described sufficiently in the manual. I set my phone, the wife's phone and the daughter's phone to pair with the unit. As the unit will only utilise the one it picks up first, it is very simple to connect to another of the paired phones if required.

The voice commands are recorded easily and you do not have to use the words they instruct you to i.e. 'Phone', you could use 'Call' for example or 'Hang Up' where you can use 'End'.

The only downside is the because when the voice commands are recorded, the radio is muted. When you are driving hoever you have your stereo on. With this, if it is too high, the unit will not pick up your voice to make a hands free call. The only way around this is to either turn the stereo volume down or off. Not a big problem, but then again not hands free.

I have also managed to upgrade the software on the unit using a laptop and bluetooth connection. This was very simple and well described on the Parrot website where you can download the software application, latest software and instructions on how to upgrade software for free.

The clarity of sound making and receiving calls is excellent and no-one has yet informed me that they have had issues when making or taking calls using the Parrot unit.

The wife and daughter are not technically minded (no disrespect) and nor are they at the front or middle of the queue when it comes to gadgetry of an electronic nature, but they found it very simple to use.

All in all £89 for a Parrot unit and a connecting loom for my headset = Bargain. Far cheaper than an OEM.

I purchased these last week, at first glance they look kinda cheap..sound quality aint too great either, the left earphone was louder than the right, however on a good point, its pink and because i have a pink ipod it looks good as they match!

Left headphone fails after 2 weeks. Defective by design

These are excellent headphones - they create a tight seal in your ear and keep a lot of sound in and keep a lot of ambient noise out.

However, if you're like me and you wind the headphones around your phone when they're not in use, you'll find the left ear bud stops working after about two weeks. I believe this is because of the design in the junction where the wires for the left and right earbud split off from one another. I have had two sets fail on me now. Very bad design.

Does not work with a Sony NWZ-S515 mp3 player.

The one star is because I did not waste too much money on it!

Does what it says on the tin

First of all its cheap....dont forget that!

BUT it is easy to connect, just pair then set up as a mic. And i have found the sounds good enough, even during COD4 with explosions going off etc. The only problem i have is the constant blue flashing light, hense not 5 Star.

Basically if you just want to use it for online gaming and arent a serious gamer then this is the headset for you, its cheap and does its job.

mobile phone socks

Firstly i must say how fast these arrived. The box does state ipod but it fits my phone perfectly. These are fun colours and excellent quality but not forgeting great value for money.

You may not get what you think

I ordered one of these cables which was described as being made by Apple, (indeed the photo is of a genuine Apple, iPod cable). When it came it was not a genuine Apple cable. I kept it because it works just as well as an Apple cable, but should have been described as such. I note however that even though I came back to this page by clicking on the order I made from my profile that it is now a different seller (was Zoodex when I ordered).

It is also worth noting to those new to iPods, that it is not worth buying if you want this cable to use with a second computer (say an office one) as unlike any other MP3 player the iPod will only work with one computer at a time. When I got this cable and connect my iPod Nano to my office PC, it told me it could not sync with this computer, unless I opted to erase its contents and start again! So really only worth buying if you have lost or broken the cable that came with your iPod.

this stand is a good buy it is very strong and easy to set up! There is only one problem if you have a very small keyboard then you will have a very high stand! I would recomend it for a 61 key keyboard or more, it works well with the YAMAHA YPT-200 that is avalible on amazon!

It was cheap, it works and is a lot cheaper then getting one from the phone shop. Am very happy.

Easy and thin

This is my first hands free and it does what it says! It is small and discreet so does not block your vision when driving. The sound is good for me, but I do close my sunroof to talk.

The first time I tried to synch with my Motorola phone it could not find it, but once the unit was fully charged it found it right away. Now, I just turn it on and, beep, they automatically find each other. So EASY that I find I really do use it every time I drive.

I wish I had bought a charger for home use, as it is a bit distracting to have the recharger cord down to the lighter while driving. That said, I have not yet charged it since my initial full charge... so the battery life is very good!

Adaptor for DS not included

Despite showing a Nintendo DS lite on the packaging of this item (and in the Amazon pages related to it) this does NOT include the relevant adaptor for the DS or DS lite - you have to purchase it direct from Power Traveler for an additional £2.50 plus £1.50 P&P.

I called Power Traveler to clarify this and a very rude lady said that since the packaging (allegedly) lists the adaptors included (it actually doesn't - only a very vague"includes specific connector tips for iPods, MP3 players, PDAs, smart mobile phones, digital cameras, hand-held gaming devices, Blackberrys, Bluetooth headsets and many more digital devices" - what is the DS if not a"hand-held gaming device"?!), they did not feel it was necessary to explicitly state that the DS adaptor was an optional extra, despite the packaging giving the obvious impression that it was included and"£2.50 won't break the bank" (which it won't, but I object to having to pay over and above what I have already just to get the functionality advertised on the package).

This sort of customer service and borderline deception leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I will not be recommending the product to any of my friends.

IPOD OR PHONE SOCKS

THEY DO COME AS IPOD SOCKS BUT WITH NO TAGS WHICH IS GREAT FOR MY MOBILE PHONE

Not impressed. This is definitely NOT an original. No Nokia markings on it all as per the picture. No wonder it's so cheap, it's just Chinese rubbish.
