Goodbye my precious!

I thought I was going to end up with my little precious E61i for a very long time as I had always wanted to have one since it first came out! Loved the design, its Qwerty keyboard and the WiFi works great. Yet I had to put it up for sale here on Amazon as I need some extra funding on holiday this Fall and am sure its new owner will take good care of it!

Worst ever

I've had mobile phones for years and years - in the mid-90s and I have experienced quite a assortment of phones during that time. However, this is one phone I feel most strongly about as it is absolutely appalling. Firstly the phone keeps cutting out. The signal would disappear for no apparent reason but curiously this is more frequent when the person you are calling, is not on the same service as you - i.e. Orange in my case trying to talk to an O2 user. The other annoying thing about it is that the backlight stays on for quite a long time after you close it. I know what you're thinking. I should change the time-out settings in the menu; but this doesn't seem to make any difference. This has the knock-on effect that the battery is poor and needs charging every two days, even if its on standby.
Just about the only thing about this phone which I liked was the typical Motorola keypad. But what use is it, if the phone does not work properly. My worst phone ever, in 15 years! Avoid at all costs.

Easy as a Rubiks Cube

I have been using the Nokia interface for 5 years and decided to try this Sony Ericsson K510i for a change.

Pros : Looks nice, Good screen, Reasonable Camera, Good battery life.
Cons : Interface is Counter intuative after using Nokia up to now.
Tiny fiddly buttons for big hands.
Loudspeaker is poor quality.

I've had this phone for 5 weeks and have tried hard to get used to the interface software but found it a nightmare. After 5 weeks irritation i'm giving it away and buying another Nokia.

Just what a phone should be!

This is a really nice little phone, it is sturdy and so easy to use. It doesn't have all the useless 'extras' such as camera and internet access - it is ideal for anyone , like me, who wants a phone in order to make phone calls!!! AND it looks smart too. :-)

Impressive!

I received the phone today and have been trying it out over the last few hours. I'm impressed. To those complaining about size, hey, it's no thicker or heavier than a Sony K800. Good points: big screen (excellent for watching videos!), Windows-like menu system, easy drag and drop to micro-sd card, free spare battery (!) and Picsel file viewer. I have tried photos, pdf, Word, Powerpoint and mpg and all view ok. I'll be able to practice my business presentations on the train! The wheel control is easy to get used to. The keypad lock is on the side. Camera is passable for casual use. Numerous connection ports on the sides remind my of a James Bond movie there are so many! Call clarity I'd rate medium. Bad points: audio is not very loud, included headphones ditto, though I'm not fussed. No micro-sd card is included in the package and there's no wifi but heck, you can't have everything. The numerous extras like spare battery, wrist strap, desktop charger more than make up for it.
All this and it's sim-free to, so I just popped my existing sim, simple as that. Excellent value.

Great if only you can hear a conversation!

I'm a big Nokia fan, and the spec of this phone is great...I upgraded to it last September. But, I'm really disappointed with my handset. It has developed 'speaker' problems and makes trying to hear the person you're talking to sound something like one of those comedians whose act features a broken microphone! Nokia service point have looked at it, changed the speaker, but it's still the same! A shame because it's a great phone otherwise...

Great little phone

I got this phone on the 'Three' network and so own a lovely purple version - the colour is amazing! I really like the screen on this phone, the colour is vivid and is easily readable.
The camera isn't too special and you have to have quite a steady hand to get a good shot.
My main issue with this phone is the placement of the quick camera button. Its on the lower right side of the phone - exactly where your thumb sits...especially when texting. But you get used to it.

Other than that i really like this phone, mp3 player is nice, it performs all its little extras smoothly, nicely designed and the msn messenger service is very useful. It definately stands out and has great battery life so I would recommend it.

Looks Smart but is as thick as a McDonalds Milkshake

I purchased this phone after my HTC Touch was accidently damaged and Orange would not supply me with a new phone.

I can really only complain about this phone. Rather than enjoy using it, I have to bear with it.

My main gripe is with the User Interface - the touch flo 3d homescreen consists of a large clock with other informaton such as appointments etc shown in such small writing that you cant see it.

The second problem with the interface comes when you receive a call, as the screen comes alive should anything touch it, for example your pocket, or a phone case the phone will reject the call, this is because of a huge on-screen button which ends a call if pressed. VERY STUPID AND EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING, also expensive as I am consantly having to call cients back.

There is a free program that locks the screen but even then, the phone seems to have a mind of its own, sometimes it will allow you to reeive a call, other times the call simply ends before you have a chance to answer it.

3rd gripe, the phone can't seem hold one call while you are taking another, the phone simply locks up when you put someone on hold

4th Gripe, the 3d Touch interface is very slow.

5th Gripe, the keyboard settings seem to change, sometimes a full qwerty appears on screen, other times a different lyout appears.

6th gipe- crap speaker- you can hardly hear anything

7th gripe - crap reception

8th Gripe - glossy buttons attract fingermarks, so that the smooth mirror finish begins to look grobby from the moment its used.

9th gripe - unreliable bluetooth connection to external car speaker. This was never a problem with my previous HTC device.

The list goes on.

In summing up, whoever testd this phone should be sacked, it's not ready to sell. it's frustrating to use and the interface is ill thought out and functons poorly.

Pleasant phone

I've had mine for about 6 months now, and am very pleased, overall, with the phone. Walkman feature is great especially considering the 8GB of storage for all your music & camera is very good. That is the main features I need in a phone, and the W960i pleases in both categories. AND a handy feature is Wi-Fi. If you can find a hot-spot you can browse the internet for free at very decent speeds.

For the rest, it's just like any other phone. All the basic things like calculator and stopwatch and other related software is inclusive. Sure it takes a while to get use to the touch-interface, especially in the file-manager to go back to different folders and to browse the settings etc.

The things I dislike however, is the resolution of the screen; the screen is huge but the phone still uses 320x240 instead of something like 400x300. But the quality of viewing images isn't compromised though. The other thing is it can be VERY slow at some stages, like when you start up the phone or when starting software for example Gmail or other Java apps, or the Web browser, camera, walkman etc. But once the apps are started, they will be accessed a lot quicker.
The reason for this being the operating system of the phone is a lot like Windows where applications must first be loaded into the memory. I do not know if the battery life is compromised when all the applications are started. I therefore only keep the applications that I use the most,"open".
One last thing that can get on my nerves is when the phone ceases to work if you try to do things too fast for the phone to process. In this case I have to force-shutdown the phone by holding down the power button.

Battery life is more or less like any other phone. Mine lasts for around 5 days when I'm just using the walkman and other smaller applications, but it only lasts for around 3 days when I phone people or receive calls, a lot more. Be sure not to break the LCD screen as it could cost around £60 to get it fixed.

All and all this phone does what it is supposed to do. The touch-screen works fine, the"c" key can be used to delete files and entries like any other Sony Ericsson and the menus are easy to use. The jogg-dail helps for scrolling through menus and messages and is a great addition.

I would recommend it to any tech-loving person who isn't worried about size or weight of things like cellphones.

A fantastic upgrade from N73 - recommended

I have been using a Nokia N78 for weeks, and it is an absolute delight. I used to use an N73 which was a great phone, but in addition to everything it already does, the N78 includes WLAN and GPS. So you can easily connect to the internet at home or in coffee shops using WLAN. And you get free maps too. Mine came with UK maps pre-installed, but you can just download any more maps you need from the web.

Taking pictures is noticeably faster than on N73. The camera starts very quickly, gets focus-lock, and then shows the captured picture in the viewfinder very quickly. And if you have the"Record location" option enabled, it automatically geotags your images so you can see on a map where they were taken. Cool!

I listen to podcasts a lot, and on N78 you can do that in the car using your own car radio with the Integrated FM transmitter. It means you just tune your car radio to the same station as you set on the phone, and the podcast comes out of your radio. It's just like magic, and you don't need a special radio or subscription or anything like that.

Mine came with 2GB memory card. Sure, bigger cards are available in the shops, but this will last me a good while before I need to get a bigger card.

This phone is much faster than N73, and overall I would say I'm delighted. The keys look a bit strange, but they're fine to use - even with big fingers. But you do need to see past the"design" in the first place and just trust that it will work.

Yes, there are phones with bigger cameras around, but I was completely happy with the pics I got from my N73, and the ones I have from N78 don't disappoint.

Well done Nokia again

Brilliant phone, great sound, easy to use, great camera - all you could want in a phone, have tried other manufacturers only to be disappointed. Long live Nokia!
