Review for Samsung SM2494HM 24-inch Widescreen LCD TFT Monitor (HDMI, DVI, USB, Gloss Black):
Samsung SM2494HM
A great monitor to use, just ensure your video adaptor is capable of supporting it. The optimum resolution is 1920x1080. If you feed this monitor with less it throws a (deletable) warning message. I tried it with a Dell 3100C which has a maximum resolution of 1680x and the image will not fill the screen correctly. It works great with my Asus M2NPV-VM motherboard and gives so much more room when using programs like Sony Vegas Movie Studio and when browsing Google Earth!

Review for BenQ G2222HDL - LCD display - TFT - LED backlight - 21.5" - widescreen - 1920 x 1080 - 300 cd/m2 - 5000000:1 (dynamic) - 5 ms - 0.248 mm - DVI-D, VGA - glossy black:
latest backlight technology
I bought this Benq model recently because it had led backlights.

It has a wow factor of crisp text and images and is fully configurable for movies, games, standard, eco, rsb settings.

I tend to use the eco for text as this is not too bright for susutained reading.

Colour is configurable along with brightness, contrast and dynamic contrast.

I am exceptionally pleased with the fine resolution setting I have chosen which is a tad lower than the setting that is factory set( I think this is a bit too fine, but luckily you can chose your own preference).

Led monitors are cheaper and easier to make, more environmentaly friendly but at the moment are new and so cost more than they should with all the research to pay for.

Within two years all tv's and monitors will have switched to led backlights and competition and the higher viewing experience will produce a sea change in our purchases.

Apple LED Cinema Display Monitor-GBR

Our Price: £575.80
Used Price: £491.49
New Price: £509.99

Review for Apple LED Cinema Display Monitor-GBR:
simply brilliant - literally
I'm going to be lazy by referring the reader to 'Top Cat Tom's' review of this product because I wholeheartedly agree with it. This display works hand-in-glove with an Apple MacBook Pro. The only things I'd add to TCT's review are the following: I have a lot of voice and video conferences with my work, and the audio output, microphone input and webcam video quality offered by this display are top-notch. The same components on the host Macbook Pro are pretty good, but the ones on the display are even better. Putting the speakers on the bottom edge and the microphone on the top edge is no doubt one reason why using this display as part of a speakerphone is so good. Callers comment on the high quality of my voice and do not complain about echo even when I've cranked up the volume. Last things to note: it even works with my Windows7 partition on my MacBook Pro, and HD movies displayed on this screen look so much better than from the Philips LCD TV connected to my Apple Mac Mini in the living room.

Review for HP LP2475w - LCD display - TFT - 24" - widescreen - 1920 x 1200 / 60 Hz - 400 cd/m2 - 1000:1 - 6 ms - 0.27 mm - HDMI, 2xDVI-I, DisplayPort:
Recommended for text (as well as graphics)
I spent ages looking at various options for a 24" monitor. Even the top-of-the-range models have reviews from real users talking about pretty significant problems - like wobbly text, screen occasionaly cutting out.
I finally went for this one. Very solid and easy to set up, not as ugly as I was expecting.. Height and angle adjustment is very convincing - and you can even pivot it into portrait mode. I haven't found any dead or faulty pixels so far. Viewing angle is excellent.

The only issue I have had is with a slight hum that it produces when the brightness is turned down below 100%. If you do a search for this on the Web, you'll find it's not an isolated issue. I found that the intensity of the hum (which is never loud but did annoy me) varied with the exact setting of the brightness. At 25% brightness it's almost inaudible (again) and that level was fine for working. (These monitors seem to be set very bright by default.) I use the monitor primarily for coding and the text is very clear with no distortion that you sometimes hear about.
Connectivity of this monitor is second to none, with easily accessible buttons. You also seem to be able to set each input up with different settings (eg brightness of one input can be set at 25% whilst another at 80%).
You can buy a speaker bar for about £25 if you want to have that feature. (It comes without any speakers.)
It has a few USB ports but these aren't incredibly accessible if you want to periodically plug in memory sticks or whatever. I ended up leaving a short extension cable plugged in.

Overall, I'd have given it 4.5 (losing 0.5 for the hum) and have no regrets. I don't know of any model I'd have bought in preference for working largely with text had money been no object.

LG E2240S 22" LED Monitor 16:9 HD 5ms Black

Our Price: £124.44
New Price: £124.44

Review for LG E2240S 22" LED Monitor 16:9 HD 5ms Black:
As good as it gets! =]
ordered this monitor on the 23rd and got it on the 26th. (and i don't live in Mainland UK)

As for the product, The quality is perfect. slick shiny black finish.
This Monitor is Truly Slim. I looks slim in the picture and it is a slim as it looks.
Its also Very light, I was surprised,i took my old monitor away and picked this up with the foam protectors on it and it was very light in comparison with the old one.

On the front of the monitor there is 5 buttons and the power button, The power button is labeled with the standard symbol but the rest aren't.
If you press the far left one you get the Menu, once the menu is up it tells you what each button does, Confused me a first but then i figured it out.

once I plugged it in I thought it was very bright but once I found the menu I changed it but it is personal preference.

No problems yet, Haven't had a problem with light reflecting off it (but i haven't used it during the day yet) but i will update if anything changes.

what comes with the product:
a power block
VGA cable
UK plug
USA plug (at least I think it is, it has the two pins like an electric razor)

Samsung LapFit 21.5-inch TFT LCD Monitor (Gloss Black, USB, 5ms)

Our Price: £131.84
New Price: £127.87

Review for Samsung LapFit 21.5-inch TFT LCD Monitor (Gloss Black, USB, 5ms):
Wonderful for strained eyes
I bought my Samsung LD 21" 'laptop' monitor in January when I decided I wanted a bigger monitor to use in extended desktop mode - this where the notebook's monitor and the external monitor form one desktop enabling you to drag stuff from one t'other.

The main reason is because I have been working in standing position for several months to alleviate back pain, a legacy of sport catching up with me in my 60s. I need to have a reasonably ergonomic set-up as my notebook is a Toshiba Portege M700 convertible tablet, 12.1" screen.

Then a few months ago I started a year long assignment in the Middle East, but could not find space to bring my Samsung LD with me. Fortunately I came across LD190 model here and bought that. Most days I put it into its 'suitcase' box with handle and take it with me to work, and bring it back to my apartment for the evenings/weekends. The lack of a separate stand makes it more easy to carry around than one would think, so when the box eventually gives out I may get a local guy to make me a padded bag with carrying straps for the monitor.

It's really made things so much better for me as I can now use my notebook in tablet or notebook mode on the right hand side of the Samsung, and the wireless keyboard and mouse enable me to focus on the Samsung screen in the centre much the same as any desktop set-up. Outlook and other apps remain on the Toshiba screen until I need to drag them across for working on, the big Samsung screen is great for spreadsheet and graphics work.

And for playing DVDs, I just use the Toshiba as the DVD player plus a pair of Logitech speakers.

Worth it for one's eyes.

Iiyama Pro Lite E2208HDS-1 - LCD display - TFT - 22" - widescreen - 1920 x 1080 - 300 cd/m2 - 1000:1 - 10000:1 (dynamic) - 5 ms - 0.248 mm - DVI-D, VGA - speakers - black

Review for Iiyama Pro Lite E2208HDS-1 - LCD display - TFT - 22" - widescreen - 1920 x 1080 - 300 cd/m2 - 1000:1 - 10000:1 (dynamic) - 5 ms - 0.248 mm - DVI-D, VGA - speakers - black:
another great Iiyama
I have just purchased the Iiyama ProLite E2208HDS monitor and to my delight it seems to be an excellent choice. Although I am used to using a 16:10 ratio model (also an Iiyama) so the first few days the more squat screen looked a little unusual, you do lose about 12 to13 mm from the vertical dimension in the 16:9 ratio on this size of monitor - perhaps if it was a true 22 inch model as opposed to a 21.5 inch it would have only been a few millimetre, it's a shame that computer magazines seem to think that all we use a modern monitor for is to play games & watch DVDs - what a waste of quality displays like the Iiyama, although most monitor manufactures seem to be going for the 1920 x1080 resolution these days to cater for watching DVDs, this is not perfect for me as I use a PC for Photographic editing and the 16:10 ratio is prefered this over the so called HD resolution. But after viewing some high quality images produced with a professional DSLR I am more than satisfied with the display, with the sharpness set at the max I find all looks excellent. Some magazines have mentioned leakage from the top and bottom of the screen - no such anomaly has occurred on the one I have, white to black on test has a smooth transition and the colours were reasonably accurate even before the Monitor was calibrated. The styling of the monitor is quite nice too, all the buttons needed for access to brightness, contrast, colour etc. are placed on the front of the panel, the only quibble I have is that the menu quickly switches off if you are not quick to choose what you want to change, fortunately Iiyama users quickly get use to this.
Overall the monitor is definitely value for money, and over the years of using many different manufactures's displays have always found the Iiyama displays most reliable and that includes some professional models I have used.
Don't expect a lot from the supplied manual though, only the basics are given for set up - but you really won't need much more.very worthy of a 5 star rating.

Samsung 2443BW 24 Inch Monitor - Black

New Price: £250.73

Review for Samsung 2443BW 24 Inch Monitor - Black:
Fantastic
Absolutely delighted with what Santa brought me - so much so that I will be (hopefully) getting a matching one for my birthday.

The menu buttons are hard to locate unless you have good lighting, but are functional.

With regards earlier comments about software not loading, I must admit that I was a little frustrated at first, but soon realised that the html system supplied seemed to be Internet Explorer only and I was using Mozilla Firefox as my standard browser. A quick change to IE as temporary default and the CD worked fine. Sloppy, Samsung, but by no means a show-stopper.
