Good Value, possible problem in DVI mode

Bought this screen to run with a new Dell Inspiron 530. Dell has an ATI radeon HD 2400 Pro video card. It works fine on analog mode, but use the digital DVI connection and althought the picture is sharper, it is rendered useless by random flickering pixels, mostly in dark areas of the picture. Bit annoying, but it was quite cheap. Reading up on google, there seem to be a few similar problems with Viewsonic screens. On the plus side, the stand is very good, with a quality rotating base and height adjustment.

Good TV and PC

Picture quality is good, easy to install, I got this in PC world for 179 Euros. Comes with remote control, all cables and the best of all is the Auto tune.TV and PC

No speakers.

The video quality is very good, but this screen has no built-in speakers and therefore lacks kind of an essential.
Way too luminous for comfprt, but in very sunny days that comes in handy, and it's easy to set to a personalized brightness with buttons on the right handside, behind the screen.

Acer 17" Monitor

Anyone looking for a good quality flat screen monitor, costing under £100, this is the one.
It is easy to set up, very smart looking, and has superb picture quality.
Well worth every penny.

caution

I had to return this monitor as the screen was marked out of the box. I was glad however that it was marked as it gave me an excuse to return it. Although this is a wide gamut monitor, the colours are very difficult to calibrate and if you edit photos I wouldn't recommend this screen. The greens were extremely difficult to improve and skin tones were often unnatural. If you want a screen for gaming this may be a good option as the response times seemed reasonable.

ASUS, QUALITY UP WITH THE BEST AS ALWAYS

I have used Asus PC Motherboards and Various PC Parts for some time now (Years), I have always found them to be above all else Ultra Reliable, I have had this Monitor for a few months, it was extremely easy to set up straight from the box, it has Superb Picture Quality and Responce Times, it is well able to Display Two Web Pages Simultaneously which is extremely useful, it has Superb Design and Build Qualty, Plus the same ASUS Reliabiliy it has proved itself to be everything I have come to expect from ASUS Products.


It is a Very Smart Looking Monitor, I am Well Pleased and would Highly Recommend it to anyone (as would my Game Playing grandson) looking for a Reasonably Priced Quality 22" Wide Screen Monitor.

Great monitor for the price

I've had this monitor for about 9 months and its working fine and believe me, once you've had a 20" wide screen monitor you won't go back to anything smaller. The display is fantastic for the price although it does have a rather quirky set of buttons that make menu selections a bit hit and miss and the cheap stand, although stable does make tilting the screen a two handed and jerky affair. The 5ms response time means that playing videos and games is seamless. I do use this monitor for a lot of photo editing and it is now calibrated using a Huey Pro and this makes a huge difference to the overall image quality. Anybody who sits in front of a monitor for hours at a time should get a screen calibrator. In fact I would rather have this monitor and the Huey (about £100) than a very expensive monitor without a hardware calibrator.

In conclusion, yes there are much better monitors around so if you are into graphic design or photo editing then it may be worth paying more, but for a damn good all-rounder at a great price this is hard to beat.

Great value monitor

Leaving a review of this as I couldn't find one anywhere before I bought it. Presumably it's very recently released??

I had a few options which I was considering & went to view them in a certain PC superstore.
This was on display & it didn't take me long to decide that both the design & the picture looked better than the other similar priced options.

Having got it home I'm pleased to say the good vibes continued. Design is neat & understated & it looked great in-situ with it's tiny blue led not distracting me like some can (I've had to stick blue-tac over some of my other leds as they're so bright!)

It powered up fine & picture immediately seemed good....I just had to go set the resolution to 1680x1050.
There were no dead pixels at all. Colour was really vibrant but not unnaturally so, blacks were black & the whites were bright.....there is some kind of dynamic contrast adjustment going on & it seems to be doing a good job.
Watching TV was a joy compared to my old screen, while flicking between channels I found myself stopping on any nice coloured images & marvelling at the detail & vibrancy of the picture!!
I also couldn't detect any ghosting with fast movement.

For general PC use text & graphics were nice & sharp. If anything the picture at it's default setting may be a bit too bright & might need taming a little if you're sitting at it all day but of course this is easily adjusted.
In conclusion, I think this is a great monitor at this price point....I doubt its performance will disappoint.

Fantastic Monitor

I am a student who spends a lot of time using a computer for work. I also enjoy games with intense 3D graphics. I needed a monitor which gave me accurate colour, good quality contrast and great sharpness. I also needed something that was fairly easy on the eyes so I could work for longer periods of time.

This monitor exceeded all of my expectations!

Setting up the monitor was easy (despite the rather unhelpful instructions). The software, however, I am yet to get to work. ViewSonic PerfectSuite shows all tabs as greyed out except options, and then even AutoPivot does not function. The support for this matter seems to be close to non-existant, I am yet to hear back from their customer support.

However, with that having been said, most of the functions that PerfectSuite can perform, graphics cards you can buy today come with software that can do pretty much the same thing (minus auto-pivot).

It should be noted that this monitor rotates in 3 planes -- 270 degree swivel, tilt, and pivot (that's rotation from Landscape to Portrait), as well as height adjustment.

I would definitely recommend this monitor, despite the problems I have had with the software. The only real down-side to having a screen like this, is knowing where to look!

I Have Seen The Light via LCD TV

This is a non technical review on what my wife and saw at home. We are both pleased as we think it represents value for money.
We purchased (from ISBUY Ltd) the PL8508 this week (23/04/08)and it arrived within 2 days.
The set is for use in our small camper van (Citreon Relay SWB). The programmes for the set will come via satellite dish (Astra 2D Free to Air.)and set top box.
We are pleased with the performance it delivers (picture and audio) when connected to Satellite dish
Within 2 hours I had the set working via terestrial aerial and Satdish/set top box.
For terestrial via standard lead to loft aerial. The lead connects to the set using Antenna transfer cable which is suplied with set.

For the set top box via audio/video phono lead (red, white and yellow) lead which connect to the MMI cable (AV)which is provided with the set.

The Users manual is poor( something lost in translation) but once you have tuned in one set it is roughly the same procedure.
I did all tuning with the remote control.

So to finish we are pleased with what we have seen so far. Its reliability and durabilty are yet to be established hence only giving it 3 Stars.

Quality

I replaced a 19" monitor that had dead pixels with one of these Samsungs. A much better choice - these Samsung are built to last and are backed up by a 3 year warranty. There's not a lot to say about them, the picture quality is very good and the dynamic contrast does help to make dark scenes better by temporarily underlighting the display. I didn't see the point in paying more money for a 22" screen with the same 1680x1050 resolution.
DVI cable and kettle lead included in the box.

Seems OK so far - early days

I've put this review in quickly simply becuase there arne't any so far:
Got this as a low cost replacement to my 4 year old Dell 15" 4:3 monitor which keeps giving me a random white screen. Happy enough with this Hanns_G after about 3 hours use so far. Easy to physically assemble. Driver software took me a bit longer to sort - the disk didn't seem to install via the autorun. I ended up using windows XP control panel to update the driver (Win XP is normally 32bit as a clue). The buttons on the lower RH of the monitor aren't in the most user friendly spot as you push upwards to use them with nowhere to perch/rest your hand but these controls are not exactly used everyday. As far as I can see there are no missing pixels. Not rated 5 stars simply because it's early days. Bought Hanns-G as couldn't find any negative notes on web about them.

Not Great, Not the worst

This is a big monitor with very nice looks in all mat black. Typical Acer adjustment functions. Monitor suffers from backlight bleeding like most low end Acer Monitors. Biggest issue: Colors are extremely uneven, very typical of a low end TN Panel. Just looking at the Explorer webpage
toolbar you can see the colors change going from left to right. To me, this reeks of low-end panel quality. Acer does not state the color gamut on this unit in any of their literature; its probably below 72%. 16.7 Million Colors HiFRC actually means the panel is only capable of 256K, and is engineered to Fake the rest of the colors by combine pixels to create the illusion of 16.7M colors. Interesting enough, games and movies still look decent, although the lack of color is evident. After spending time with this unit, I'm convenced its withwhile spending the extra money for a better quality monitor. This unit is targeted at gamers and movie buffs. Photo and graphic pros and semi-pros need not apply.

Good monitor for the price

Bought two of these in Early Decemember 2006. They are good value and good picture....look sleek and cool in my Home study. All of the buttons are on the back on the monitor (only three buttons - an up, a down and an enter button). The menus are easy to navigate.

However they have little floral designs on the side panel which some guys may find a bit feminine. Also you cannot raise the height of the monitor, it only swivels.

Also the speakers are terrible quality (very tinny) but what do you expect from such a compact monitor - it is audible so okay if listening to speech etc but not so good for listening to music tracks or watching a DVD - get some speakers instead!
