An excellent piece of kit for T.V/Gaming

This T.V is very ideal for gaming on systems like the XBOX 360. It runs at 720p. It has numerous connections such as; Red/White - audio, S-video, red, green, blue and more! The only connection it doesn't have is the HDMI. So in theory it makes this T.V HDTV...still excellent.
I have a digi-freeview box connected as the analogue didn't work so good for me (just due to the location of my T.V and aerial-so nothing wrong with the T.V)
I haven't connected this to a PC/MAC so im not sure how good it is.

I gave this a 4/5 because when watching T.V, if your up close it just appears over contrasted. Not that its a problem (have tweaked with the settings) its better if you sit further away from it. -The other reviews describe this better then mine.

I do recommend it as a T.V for your bedroom or kitchen.

Good quality monitor, BUT......

I have been using this monitor for almost 2 weeks now. I have to say I am generally impressed. I particularly like the adjustable stand. Although the colour range of any LCD monitor is DEFINITELY smaller than a CRT one, the colours of this monitor are still excellent.

However, if you were to purchase this item, I strongly recommend you to get yourself a good quality VGA cable (if you dont have DVI that is) like from Belkin. The VGA cable attached is, frankly, awful. There is a lot of Ghosting before I got my new vga cable specifically for large Monitors, and now it's completely fine.

Great Monitor - Great Value

I have only had this monitor for a couple of days but it has really impressed me. I had seen a review in a PC magazine and whilst not getting the best review it was best value and I have to agree with that

For a start it comes with nearly all the leads you need including VGA cable, DVI-D cable, audio cables (3.5 to 3.5 and 3.5 to RCA), RGB to DVI-I cable and a mains cable. Most of these you would have to buy seperately with other monitors. The only one not included was the USB lead for the four port hub. I had a few spare so that didn't matter.

The monitor is widescreen and gives a large viewing area and I have already found that useful for editing documents side by side. The extra space over smaller monitors is useful for video editing and other tasks where a smaller screen makes it harder to fit everything on.

Only gripe is that the stand is only adjustable for tilt and not height and is a little flimsy looking compared to the rest of the monitor. I will probably wall mount it any way.

Overall I would say it is great value and works really well.

Competent and Stylish

I bought this monitor as a replacement for an 18" 4:3 aspect DELL monitor that had finally given up the ghost after 3+ years. I was drawn to this unit as it seemed to offer an opportunity to combine a LCD TV with a PC monitor and also because it had HD inputs (Composite and a single HDMI) for my games consoles.

The unit is incredibly stylish - great simple clean lines with a quality piano-black gloss finish which looks super. The stand is small and unobtrusive and offers a tilt mechanism so you can adjust the angle the monitor is at. The back ports are well organised and well labelled and there is also a set of AV inputs on the side of the unit. The nice blue 'glow' around the power button is classic Samsung and looks nice. Another factor behind my choice of this unit was the built in speakers. These are competent enough for general use but if you're a dedicated gamer or intending to use this as your daily TV, you might want to look at alternative sound sources. For me and what I want, it's fine right now.

As a monitor and using the DVI-D input, the picture is stunningly clear, sharp and crisp with good colour reproduction. It is quite bright but alternative 'picture modes' may lessen the initial feelings of harsh brightness on mainly white backgrounds (we use"internet" mode which seems to tone the white down nicely). My pictures look great on it. It's taking me a while to adjust to being in 'widescreen' mode on my PC though - some of my pictures do look a little stretched now.

As a TV, it seems reasonably competent too. I confess that this is my first LCD TV and I'm only running it of an anlogue source (no built in Freeview if that's important to you!) but the picture seems reasonable for an LCD screen. It's quite simple to set up but the instructions (both printed and on the enclosed CD) are evidently translated into English with some great quotes in there! It is capable of displaying HD transmissions with a suitable source and offers AV, SCART, Composite and HDMI inputs for those.

I haven't had oppportunity yet to try it with the games console so can't really comment on that.

Price wise, Amazon seemed pretty well placed on this. Argos were doing this at £199 for a while but PC World were £250 at one point.

One small quibbles - there was no DVI cable in my box. It came with a D-SUB cable and a cable for hooking it up to the audio out on the PC as well as a UK and European power cable. I had a DVI cable anyway so no major complaints but others may be frustrated by this.

Overall, I highly rate this hybrid monitor/TV and would recommend it to others looking for a replacement monitor - it's great to get the extra functionality and may help reduce clutter is some rooms. It's very stylish and would, I'm sure, look great in most situations. The monitor elements are faultless and the TV functionality is, for me, an added extra. I'm looking forward to testing it with the PS3 and 360 for a truly HD gaming experience.

quality monitor for hdmi support.

bought this for use with ps3 and it works a charm. the speakers aren't particularly impressive but i use a seperate sound system. supports 1080 hd resolution with HDMI input and VGA its perfect for both a computer and the ps3. swift delivery too.nuff said.

Good all rounder

I opted for this LG Monitor, for 3 reasons, i hate samsung, dell is too expensive, and even if i was to buy a samsung, all the"panel lottery" is too risky for my pocket.

i dont know why, but i like LG more than samsung, and to be honest with you, i love what i got. it looks absolutely stunning, the screen is bright and colours are great, though the default colours are disappointing, but i changed the preset and it was great, though a bit bright for night times and i turned the brightness down and it's great now.

i wanted this monitor mainly for gaming. connected it to my 8800gtx via DVI and oh my God, all the games look fantastic, Cod4 in particular, playing FIFA is great as well (widescreen). i have watched a few movies with it, if u sit at the monitor, u will notice some noise in the picture due overdrive crap, but if u sit back a meter or 2, it will be fantastic, just love it.

some people say samsungs are better, but i dont care, i hate samsung :D
but i am sure this is the best monitor for gaming, it has very little input lag comparing to samsung panels.

anyway, i love what i have, looks well made and quality and the edges are well sealed. the only fault is that noise thing, otherwise it's perfect.

acer monitor

this monitor is my 2nd purchase of these as i love the quality of the 1st one i brought.that was 5yrs ago and still going good,brill picture and the screen isnt too soft to the touch as little fingers like to touch my screen.[if the tv screen is anything to go by].so its finger proof,great picture,easy to adjust eg;brightness etc.

Very Impressed

Have owned this monitor for 4 months now and am very pleased with it.

The height adjustment and swivel stand is excellent and the picture quality brilliant too.

I also use it for watching TV on my PC and this screen size is ample for those using it for this purpose too. I use a DVI connection and the quality is perfect no matter how fast moving the image on TV is.

Quality Monitor

We have spent a long time looking at monitors and reviews and finally decided to purchase the HP w2207h, and having had it for a couple of weeks, it certainly hasn't disappointed. We use the monitor mostly for work, internet and digital photography so are rating it on this basis. We do not do any gaming or use the speakers as we already have good surround sound speakers, so cannot comment on these. The monitor looks great, is sturdy, the settings easy to change and the display is crystal clear, both for text and photos. We have experienced no dead pixels or backlight bleeding.

We were a little worried about buying a new monitor at all, having read negative reviews on all the monitors we were considering. In particular, we were looking at the Samsung SM2232BW Pebble, LG L226WTQ and Acer P223W and based on seeing these in shops and reading reviews the HP came out top for what we required. We also looked at 19" and 20" monitors, and were initially worried the 22" might be too big or the text would appear too small at the recommended 1680 x 1050 resolution, but we had nothing to worry about.

We have had no problems with light reflection off the glossy screen (no windows or lights directly behind our monitor) and no issues with dust collecting on the surround, which other reviews have mentioned.

It did take a little while to set up completely. We had to update our graphics driver software (ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro) in order to be able to change to the recommended resolution setting. We then installed the software that came with the monitor, to find the menu functions would not work properly, until we updated this software to the newest version. We also had to buy a HDMI to DVI adaptor (£5) as the monitor only has HDMI and VGA outputs and our graphics card DVI and VGA; not a major problem. Following this there was a wizard that was easy to use to change the display settings to your taste, after which we also reduced the brightness.

We haven't used the screen in vertical position, although before setting it up we tried adjusting to this position, which was very easy.

I have the SyncMaster 913v

I have the previous model to this one and am very happy with it. I have had it for 2 1/2 yrs, it works exactly how its suppose to, no problems what so ever. The images are crisp clear.
