The Sony D-NE800W ATRAC/MP3 CD Walkman is Amazing, being able to store over 30 albums onto one disk and play it on this MP3 player is just amazing. The Sony D-NE800W ATRAC/MP3 CD Walkman provides great sound quility and can go very loud. As for the delivery from amazon... well they told me it was going to take 4-5 days to deliver and only took 2 days to get here!!!! talk about great service

Difficutly reading some discs, rubbish headphones

The headphones provided are of terrible quality, if you enjoy your music you’ll want to buy a different pair. It has problems reading some discs, makes a funny noise - you simply open it and take the disc off and then back on again and it works. The MP3 feature is obviously very useful and it loads in a pretty reasonable speed. Once you’ve got some good headphones, the sound quality is very impressive.

I’ve dropped it, I’m sure it’s been to hell and back bouncing around in my bag, but it still keeps going and the batteries really do give you 40 hours of music, if not more!

Great sound, great looks, easy to use. Lousy power usage.

Very pleased with this. I was looking for something with good sound quality, I found many of its competitors (particularly Sony) tinny and I wanted something capable of doing justice to some dynamically challenging classical music as well as Rock & Jazz. The sound quality is excellent and as I say I'm delighted with the result.

The FM radio has adequate but not great reception (doesn't deal too well with motion but fine if you are moderately still - great for sitting at a computer, not so good for sitting in a bus / train. Sound quality when you have reception is fine.

My biggest quibble, and a strong reason for not giving it five stars is the power usage. The battery life, on the supplied rechargable sticks only, is poor - probably about three hours. Much worse though is that when the charge starts to fail (2 bars out of 3) it frequently fails to play MP3 files on a RW CD - the CD spins but doesn't advance or produce any sound. This can makes the MP3 function useless if you're not near a power supply to sort it out. The problem doesn't occur with standard music CDs and the radio will also work.

Firmware updates are very easy (if you have an internet connection and a CD writer) and the menu system, though extensive, is reasonably intuitive once you've worked out the general function of the three jog switches.

Good value for money.

MP3 player works very well as indicated in the descriptions. However, the finish, the look and feel and user friendlyness of the product is poor. Tecknet's customer service is excellent. Prompt reply to queries. The MP3 player has a 2.5mm jack and FM transmitter has 3.5mm jack. On request Tecknet provided a 2.5mm to 3.5mm converter.

FM transmitter is good especially when used in the car. Indoors it gave a heavy hizzing sound. But it may be due to disturbance from other electronic devices in closer proximity.

Don't buy

Despite the sleek looks of this MP3/CD player, it's actually a pretty awful little unit. I bought one to replace my Rio Volt SP250 MP3 CD Player, which managed to break itself, and was initially pleased with the results. But you only have to scratch at the surface to reveal that:

1) The only changeable settings are the bass (whereas the Rio Volt had endless presets and tweakable options such as bass and treble).

2) The screen doesn't display MP3 names, only track numbers. And it's not backlit.

3) Between tracks, the player makes a horrible clicking sound, like you've eaten too many of those crackling sweets you ate when you were a kid.

4) The player would intermittently skip between tracks, even when placed in a horizontal, non-shaking position.

5) It says it's got MAGIC skip protection on the front. I don't know about you but I prefer PROVEN SCIENCE to MAGIC.

It's well built, but that's all there is to recommend about it. Only buy if you want a headache.

Good functions, nice capibilty

Wow! the new pysc sony is super portabal a jogged for hours and it didnt skip once and thats with an MP3! Can play any sort of modern audio disc!
