Terrific MP3 Player

Not long received this Zen Stone Plus. First MP3 player I've had and it's so easy to use in every way. Battery life looks great so far and can't understand why I've taken so long to come in the MP3 era.Would thoroughly recommend this terrific player.

Excellent

I bought this to replace a Creative Zen Nano 1GB MP3 Player (which has developed an annoying habit of switching itself off for no reason). The sound quality is not quite as good as the Creative (which has a built in graphic equalizer function for listening to different styles) but having said that it is excellent for such a tiny compact, convenient device. The clip is extremely useful to me as I listen to music while working out in the gym and it clips easily onto shirt/shorts.
The reason I don't give it 5 stars is that the headphones supplied by Apple are awful - they blast out at high volume but it's like listening through wet cotton wool. I use a pair of Sennheiser CX300 Ear Canal phones which are immensely superior to the Apple ones. They take a bit of fiddling with to get the right size and then to form a seal around the ear canal but once they're in they sound great with the ipod shuffle.

Mum Loves It

My Mum Recently Decided To Buy Herself An Ipod Shuffle After Worrying For A While About The Cost And HavinTo Wear Earphones. I ALready Had An Ipod Nano And Really Encouraged Her To Buy An Ipod For Herself, Obviously. So InThe End She Did And Has suddenly Got A New Best Friend!! She Has Had It For 2 Days And Has Already ALmost Filled It Up and Spends Half Her Time In Front Of The Computer Getting More Songs.

I NEVER Thought I Would See Her Go So Mad About A Piece Of Technolgy. But Hey, If anything Can Do It An Ipod Can!

God, Shes STILL Going On About It Now"Oh I Dont Know How I Went For Years Without One!" Etc.

Excellent mp3 player

I love listening to the radio, and also wanted an mp3 this product had both at a reasonable price. It is tiny, and holds so much :) I have now got a charger for the mp3, which means i can charge it up anywhere. The charger comes with an international plug as well which is ideal for holidays. Ticks all my boxes. It lost a"star" cause i'm still not 100% sure how to use it properly, but i'm sure i will learn in time. After all 2 weeks isn't that long....

Brilliant MP3 player. Not as"cool" as an Apple one, but so much better. The screen is a better size than that of nano, or some previous sony models. It was easy to transfer films to it because we already had the software that converts it to a suitable format. Watching films at the gym instead of TV is so much better. I love the bluetooth /wireless feature too. I was a bluetooth virgin but pairing these up was a doddle. Work perfectly all the time. And quite useful not to have to wear your MP3 player on your arm while excercising, meaning you can comfortably look at the screen to change tracks. Only downside is that the headphones pinch the top of my ears, but that may be something to do with the way I wear them and I can get different ones eventually. You do get the wireless and in ear buds supplied and those are good phones. As for the price, the Amazon price now is great. I paid £5 more last week, but still chuffed to bits with my purchase.

Great sound quality, good volume.

Once you've ditched the supplied buds in favour of better headphones, and adjusted the EQ for the type of music you're listening to, you'll be impressed with the sound quality of this player. I listen mainly to classical music which, with its wide tonal and dynamic ranges, is demanding for any audio system. There is not a trace of noise in quiet passages, and loud ones are handled without distortion and with plenty of volume.

The auto-transfer software installed on the player is easy to use, but if you're comfortable with drag-and-drop you might prefer to use Windows Explorer to get your MP3s on to the player. I created a folder on my PC for each composer and dragged all the folders over to the player in one operation. I could also have created subfolders for each type of work: symphonies, concertos, etc, but with only 50 or so pieces, each of 30-40 minutes duration, this wasn't really necessary. The player supports an 8-level folder structure, so even a thousand pop tracks could be properly organised by genre, artist, title, mood, for example. Once on the player, files are easy to navigate.

Time may change my opinion, but at the moment I have only positive things to say about this remarkable little player. Well done, Sony! And Amazon, of course, for prompt and effortless service yet again.

Another Creative mp3 disaster.....

Having had 2 'zen vision' mp3 players pack up (luckily under warranty )
this unit has now given up refuses to charge up, creative customer support are hopeless and predictably suggest upgrade firmware, but impossible if it doesnt turn on....going to get exhanged for another brand before the warranty runs out.

What do you want for a fiver?

Sound is pretty good but not the best.
If your looking for speakers to take on holiday these are the boys.

I can now listen to music in every room of the house that has a radio in it. Infact I can have several radios around the house playing the same music from my pc. And the usb power is a great idea!

Took me longer to open the pack than it did to set up.

Don't buy

The best thing about these earphones is the way they let you listen to music in a revolutionary new way. You start by pushing them uncomfortably deep into your earhole, then they gradually slide out and finally fall out your ear, so it's as if the music is gradually coming from further away, and then it stops completely. A pheonomenal experience. Unammusing sarcasm aside, they're terrible, and the ones I got didn't even have the varying sizes of plugs. I actually read all the other reviews saying I shouldn't buy these earphones, but despite the fact they all said not to, I still went on and bought them. I guess it's because I'm the kind of guy who likes to fight the power and find things out for myself. But if you're not as much of a maveric as me, really just don't buy these earphones. Thankyou. Brilliant Value

This is an amazing little gizmo, well worth the money I paid for it. Although the software it came with works well, it's possible to use the player as you would a memory stick. Dragging and dropping music straight into it makes it simple to make the folders (which it uses sort of like a playlist) and it takes less than a minute to add or delete music.

The controls are basic and self explanatory. All the info it has is conveyed uses just a LED which flashes in different sequences of green or orange. A quick read of the manual explains all of these and afterwards it's very easy and intuitive to use.

The sound quality's good, I use it for books on tape on the tube and have never had a problem hearing what was going on. The tiny size (imagine a box of matches with rounded edges) means it can slip into any pocket unobtrustively and means that me and my Zen Stone are now inseperable.

Don't buy without seeing one in real life first

I highly recommend tracking down one of the new nano video i-pods before purchasing. The first thing that hit me was just how small it was. Previously before video smaller always = better. Now, perhaps not so.

The screen is small and to be honest you're not going to spend a long time watching videos without straining your eyes. THe upside is that it has the same resolution as the bigger i-pods, which means no loss of quality, just size.

As always there's no replaceable battery, so once it's dead it's pretty much game over. Saying that the flash memory i-pods have much better battery life than ever before.

It's a very nifty piece of kit that just wasn't possible a few years ago. It looks cool and it sounds cool, just don't buy it for the video functionality alone.

Altec or Griffin Amplifi?

I'm not quite sure why the reviewer below seemed so negative towards the IM600. I wonder if he had the equaliser on with his ipod? I find it works best with the EQ off and have found no distortion at high volumes, only clear crisp sound with the best bass you could expect from a system with no subwoofer. I'm a bass fan and was concerned that there wouldn't be enough on the IM600 to satisy me. The Griffin Amplifi on the other hand has masses of bass and equally excellent sound so I was torn between the two. If I had the money I would have bought both. In the end the Amplifi just wasn't as practical so I plumped for the IM600 and feel I have made the right choice. The FM radio works fine and is a bonus, portability with its size and lithium battery is superb (It will be great for the garden during the summer) and the bass is just about sufficient for my tastes. Just a couple of things to note from the model I bought from the Mac shop for £99 - the 3 connections are AUX, DC & USB mini and don't include additional ouputs such as sub-out as I have seen on other versions of the IM600. Also there is no insert for the 3G nano. The one that came with my Nano is white, so I tend not to use it, but I don't find this a problem. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the Altec. A superb sound from such a small slimline unit.

Nike+ iPod Sensor Shoe Pouch - Great Idea

I've run several hundred miles with my Shoe Pouch now and think it's a great product. It allows you to easily but securely attach the Nike+ iPod sensor to your running shoes even if they don't have a special compartment for it - which means you can use the Nike+ system to record your run data without buying new shoes. I have heard it suggested that how the sensor is attached to the shoe affects accuracy. However, in my experience the sensor produces accurate results when attached to the shoe using a Shoe Pouch (providing that you calibrate it correctly first) with distance estimates accurate to within 2.5%. The Shoe Pouch keeps the sensor secure and dry (even in fairly wet conditions - though apart from one accidental splash through a deep puddle I've never actually submerged it) and doesn't bounce around on the shoe so you really don't notice it is there while you are running. It appears well-made (feels like wetsuit material) and is a snug fit for the sensor. Excellent product. Highly recommended.

Built to last.....er ....2 months max

Screen failed after just 2 months of very light use. Looking at previous reviews, this would seem to be a manufacturing problem.

Amazon returns service worked very well - the only thing about this product that did.

Don't buy. Spend more for quality - it will pay in long term.

No frills - does the job but not an Apple cable

I bought this when my original Apple cable stopped working. It works fine for what I need it for - i.e. connecting to I-tunes to synchronise my ipod. It is just a basic cable and I do not believe an official piece of kit but good value for money.

Hmm... the new colours?!

If you are a runner, then this HAS to be on your shorts somewhere. Steve Jobs has freed up the lone-runner experience over the past few years. Only 4 or 5 years ago my right hand had a Sony Waterproof Cassette Walkman velcro'ed to it (if the Walkman was clipped to your waist it jumped and warbled too much) which also meant to carry a water bottle tied up both your hands.

The first generation iPod Shuffle was a revalation, not only could you carry more music than you needed even for a marathon but it fitted into the key pocket on most running shorts. (but your house key was relegated to being tied on to your laces)

Now with the new version, you can clip it to your shorts and feel no bulk or weight atall whilst running along to all your best running and motivational tunes. And your keys can go back into the thoughtfully placed pocket on your shorts.

The included headphones, like for all iPods are pretty awful and do not stay in your ears when running but other than that the new Shuffle has to be the best workout kit (and bargain) of the year.

The latest range of Shuffle colours are not as vibrant as the first range, if you lookout for them the original colours are still available.
