Best MP3 Player Ever

The iPod is simply superb, it does everything. The sound quality of music is excellent and it can hold loads of music. Someone mentioned you only get about 28Gb of memory not 30. This is because Apple has had to install the software on the iPod. Someone else said you could only get videos from iTunes. This is not true either. You can download videos from YouTube using a free program called iTube. Just type iTube into google. This iPod is strongly recommended.

Excellent player

Best Player ive had so far. Had a zen 1gb which to be honest is a good mp3 (lasting me atleast 3 years). But this one is amazing allowing you to obviously store music, Photos,Videos. Also allows fm radio and presets. Cheap for its ability and in my opinion much better then ipods

Superb sound quality, crystal clear display... so simple!

I've had my new toy just a couple of days and it's so brilliant I can highly recommend it to anyone looking for alternatives to the ipod nano. Sony have completely revitalised the Walkman brand and done themselves proud with this one.

This A series is supremely easy to use when it comes to music & mp3 files. No special software required... it's plug & play. You just hook up your new player to your PC (no idea how easy this is to use with a mac) with the supplied USB cable and your player will start charging straight away. Once you're connected, you can either synchronise your music with files in your Windows Media Player if you use it (you'll need v.11 supplied with the player on CD or downloadable from the net) - just click a button and away you go - or you can drag and drop files from your C drive directly onto the player. Couldn't be easier!! So, when it comes to music it is fool proof.

There is a BUT... I'm still trying to work out how to get DVD files onto the player. The player doesn't come with conversion software to convert your DVD files into MP4's compatible with the player so you'll need to find (and buy if you want something reliable) the software to do this. I have the software now and have converted some files into MP4's successfully, I've put them on my player but it's coming up with"file not recognised" messages. I'm clearly doing something wrong but I'm not a novice at this kind of stuff and it's not simple to work out. Sony really should have supplied some help here with the player - some software would have been nice, and some simple set up guidelines. After all, it is a"video" Walkman.

That's my only grumble. I primarily bought my player for music (replacing my much out-dated iriver mp3 player). This is world's apart. It sounds fantastic. I'm not so keen on the earphones supplied as I don't find them that comfortable but have some other Sony in-the-ear earphones I bought just a short while ago. I've put 100 CDs on the player so far & still have 2.5GB of space left to play with. You can use it for storing photos too if you want. The Spiderman movie trailer that comes installed on the player is crystal clear. I'm sure I'll get my video files to work soon...

As an mp3 player I can totally TOTALLY recommend it. So easy to use & such fantastic sound quality. What more can you want? Super sleek and slim and the battery seems to just keep on going at the moment - just a brief plug into the PC tops it up for hours. I went for a deal where I got my player with a free leather case and neck strap - I can recommend these. In fact, I don't see why they don't come with as standard, as they're kind of essential of you're using it on the move (and who isn't?!).

Walkman have proven that they're"back" with this!

A Great Little MP3 Player!

I really liked my Creative Zen Nano, it was reliable (even after being dropped several times), the sound quality was good, and I didn't even change the headphones that came with it, because they were okay too. I really did not want to give into the iPod fad, when you could get something so much better from a far superior company! The only thing I didn't like is that it used batteries and therefore wasn't rechargable.

I'm sad to see it go, but I'm swapping it for a Creative Zen!

Works well - Good low cost internet radio

Bought the device a week ago and took advantage of super saver delivery ( free ), unit shipped to the door within four days.

Connected the unit up with Powerline Ethernet and it connected straight away to the network and was available for immediate use. Also tested the inbuilt wireless using 802.11g WPA-PSK and it connected OK with a data rate of 36MB/sec.

Built in NTP client ensured that the time was synced to internet time, although I'm finding it hard to get it to accept BST ( GMT+1 ). RTFM.

The unit does indeed play content from the BBC although this requires a firmware update, which is an option in the menu systems. Update takes a minute to patch to latest firmware.

The internet radio function works as expected, literally millions of radio stations from all around the world are available at your fingertips, which makes me wonder why I bought a DAB radio last year. Radio is classified by country and then by genre and is very easy to navigate, there is almost too much choice.

The media streaming function works without any intervention. This makes your MusicPal act like an iPod interface for music stored elsewhere on your LAN/WLAN. My entire household is running on Linux so the CD provided for streaming was useless. However, after installing a uPNP media streamer ( Mediatomb ) on my Ubuntu 8.04 server, where all my MP3's are stored, the MusicPal picked it up straight away and I was able to access all audio immediately. Operation over the wireless LAN was perfect, takes half a second to buffer.

The unit looks good, it's about 30cm in length and sits nicely on the bedside table, separate 5v power supply block. Brightness of the display can be set for normal operation / sleep mode and sleep timer. so you're not being woken up by a bright display. The alarm clock functions well and pops you back onto the radio station you were last listening to.

Only complaint is the quality of the single speaker. It's good enough, but far from hifi. It's perfect for internet radio ( talk ) but if you're fussy about sound quality when playing back your MP3 collection, I'd go and find some neat small speakers ( I'm trying to find someone who will sell me the XM-I X-Mini capsule travel speakers, which would go nicely with my bed side setup ). Also, the volume and jog dial buttons could be made to feel a little more substantial.

So perfect for the kitchen, bedroom or plugged in directly into your hifi ( via the coax connectors ). Works a charm, easy to setup and looks good. Consider this unit when thinking about a DAB(+) or internet radio.

Good Value for £19.99

Never owned an MP3 player before - really really pleased with this one, especially the sound quality. It does say that it can hold over 600 tracks but at the highest sound quality it is more in the 220 field.

One slight quibble is the fiddly nature of the fast forward and rewind button. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and sometimes it needs a little pursuading but overall I am very pleased with it.

Perfect first player for kids and technophobes

How easy is this player! On Christmas day I took it out of the box, plugged it into the computer (it charges itself through the USB), Windows XP recognised it, I dragged some songs onto it. Job done.
No software to download, not even a CD in the box! It also plays licence protected WMA (in other words anything downloaded legally from other than itunes). The Philips PSS I got last year for my other daughter did none of the above.
Well done Creative making such an easy device for such a good price . And it had to be white.

DONT BUY THIS

I bought this a month ago, headphones have broken already (connection keeps breaking up so perhaps its even an internal error?), now using the bluetooth ones and they are awful as well, causing player to jam on connection and keep breaking signal even though player is only in my jacket pocket.

Also its very hard to get video on there, its not as easy as they make out.

I have always had an aversion to ipods but wishing i had bought one now

LITTLE BOX OF TRICKS

Ideally, Apple would create an ipod with built-in DAB radio and maybe one day they will. Until then this little addition from Roberts does the trick. I have only used it a couple of times so far and it has worked perfectly well, no problems (NW England) picking up plenty of services, especially my fave - Planet Rock - and with none of the 2 minute auto shut off problem noted elsewhere. I do update the software on my nano though, and perhaps that is the answer. I also listen through the ipod headset, which appears to give a better signal than the 'phones supplied with the Robi. I have yet to try the FM radio so cannot comment on that.

The unit is simple to operate and the instructions are clear to understand. Yes, it'll drain the ipod battery more frequently, it's not ideal having another box (however small) and another lead to contend with, but if you like listening to DAB programmes this is the next best option and much easier than travelling with a so-called portable DAB radio. I recommend it to you!

Excellent SD card that works well with Treo 750v

The Treo is a tricky device to buy SD cards for, as it's very fussy with the brand and the type of micro-processor used in the card. I bought a cheap unknown brand and had to send it back after the phone failed to identify the card when awaken from suspend mode. Looking at the Transcend website this card appeared to be compatible with the device so I bought it in anticipation of loading my data to use with the phone and so far, I have to say I'm impressed. It worked straight out of the box and seemed to be reasonably fast when reading and writing. I totally recommend this card to anyone with a Treo.

Save your time and money.

I bought this item from Argos for £150. I charged it up using the supplied usb cable, which took just about 1 full day, then wished I hadn't bothered.

Everytime I turned it on it would work for a few minutes then for no reason whatsoever it would shut itself down.

The wifi element of it is hit and miss. Sometimes it would connect to my network then it wouldn't. It's very erratic to say the least.

Finally got fed up with it, took it back and bought an Ipod classic 80gb. Best decision I ever made.

Save your time and money and avoid this at all costs.

I wanted to give it 0 stars but there is no option for that.

I never write reviews EVER, but this warrants it. I love love the Sansa e260 it's amazingly easy to use far exceeds the equivalent Ipod in looks and usability. If you are a pc user then this is the MP3 player for you it really is just plug and play!

apple top of the class

If you have a 1GB Apple shuffle you will know how great these are, I have just upgraded to a 2GB simply because I had filled my 1GB and was having to delete songs to fit new ones on.
Once you are set up with itunes importing your fav tracks from your cds is extremely easy as is deleting songs you get fed up with. I haven't actually downloaded from the itunes site as I have so many cds anyway . I use mine with sony headphones and with any cheap ones I have and the sound quality is excellent in either case. I did treat myself to a seperate sony ipod charger so i am not tied to charging on the computer. If I was buying a shuffle for the first time I would choose a 2GB if I could afford it as like me you would probably end up upgrading sooner or later.

great mp3 player and good for a memory stick, great touch pad like the design
only downsides is that you need windows media player 10 and on mine im having trouble connecting to the computer using the usb. but it will still charge. only a problem if i want to use it as a memory stick

Was i just unlucky?

Bought one, spent ages uploading all the songs, then it stopped working within a couple of months. Unable to repair so given a replacement, that has also died, again after only a couple of months. So from my point of view, a nice idea and it looks great, but ultimately a total waste of money.

Do your self a favour spend some more money.

I purchased this transmitter to play my mp3 player in my car, it does more than this, did not realise it would also play a usb memory stick. I have used this product for three weeks now and it has been superb so far - almost too good to be true! Thank you

Witchcraft!

All my cds squeezed down a wire onto this handsome little machine. Its just great. who says that technology cant be good looking too. Apple really do know how to make kit desirable.
