these speakers are really loud and have really good sound quality. i was going to by the 1ds 01 but then i saw these and they looked really good. when i got them i was very amazed at the size of them and thought that the sound would not be very good or loud but i was wrong. you should by them they are great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great value for £20

Decided on these rather than the Logitech X-230 mainly due to the complaints about the bass. Well I'm happy I did because for £20 these Trust speakers pack a punch.

The one gripe I have is the sub-woofer hums slightly when no in use but plugged in. It may be because I have it positioned near to other electrical devices.

Trust these speakers to impress!!

Samsung HTZ315R

Have now had time to play with the system and I must say, that for an all in one system, the sound is excellent. The set-up is easy and with the wireless option (optional purchase) you get a tidy black sleek package. Agree with the first reviewer .... very in-fitting, purchased next to my PS3 :). The one drama I have at going to press is that I can't find a Region unlock code for it! I would be surprised if that is the case, as Samsung are renowned for having remote control hacks for 99.9 of their systems. Anyone finding a hack, drop me a email on steve.noble@fco.gov.uk.

A bargain for ps3 users

Well satisfied with this headset. Was easy to get it synced to the ps3 following the enclosed instructions, and works clearly in games.

Quite impressed that it came with both a Mains lead and a USB charger.

More than happy with i80

Having purchased my Ipod Nano I was very keen to get a portable speaker to compliment the great sound - and the i80 certainly succeeds in doing this. I took it on holiday to Ibiza and played it every night before we went out, as well as on the beach during the day. The sound quality is amazing for such a small speaker, and a little added bonus that I didn't realise was that your Nano can also be charged through the speaker as well! £50 well spent!!!!

Good sound and great value

I just bought these speakers for the hell of it really. I had these pretty awful speakers for a few months on my computer and i never got round to changing them; until i saw these speakers and especially their price-tag: under 7 quid!!!
I thought, well, i have to try these. And I was(am) not disappointed(and i really like my music), the base is as good as you can get in frequency range and sound quality for anything below 25 pounds, and the satellites are crystal clear and can work independently and without external power if you just plug them into an MP3 player or walkman. The volume of the whole system is quite astounding given its size (can fuel a decent night of 20+ people in a good sized living room). Another plus is the size of the set. Two very small stylish satellites and a sub-woofer a third of the size of any other sub-woofer I've ever seen. Basically, if you're looking to spend less than 15 pounds on some very decent computer/MP3 player speakers to be delivered to your door, this is the item you need.

Don't know what Neil Patterson is on.

These speakers are excellent for what they are - laptop speakers - i think Neil Patterson expected an orchestra along with his laptop!! Seriously, you won't find any better speakers in this price range to add to your laptop.

As for Neil, If you want lots of sound you need to spend lots of money....this is bargain basement here!

Very good sound and easy to use: great value

My iconic Sony Digicube has woken me every day for three decades. But it turned 30 this year and was promptly killed by my two year-old. I chose this Tempus-1S over other alternatives because it's compact and attractive, with a wide range of features. You can pay more for the XT version but I have to say I couldn't see what the extra money was really for. With this I can plug in my iPod which is great, the alarms are easy to set, the clock dims well at night and, of course, the sound is excellent. The SnoozeHandle on the top is great and it does two extra things: if you have the display set to full screen clock, the handle brings up the radio station and date if touched while the radio is playing; and at night when the radio is off, touching the SnoozeHandle brightens the clock display which could be handy for the partially-sighted. Everything can be adjusted manually anyway - it's very user friendly. The"natural sounds" are a gimmick really. The"birdsong" is a plaintive robin, the"rainfall" and"small waves" make my wife run for the loo and the"thunderstorm" scares my kids. Neat.

Sending it back to them after one day.

The radio is unusably bad, so I've clicked through their site and got a returns number.

Apart from that it's a great concept, only lacking in a sleep function so I can't fall asleep to the radio without leaving the thing on all night.

If you don't need a radio, it's a pretty good, drag'n'drop item. Who knows, maybe yours will work!

PS3 gaming with sound

when I was looking to buy a head set I wanted one that would allow me to use it for music with a pc and for gaming on a pc and a playstation 3. I already knew logitech headsets tend to work well with a playstaion 3 and I had read about the problems the bluetooth headsets caused to your controllers. I opted for this headset and it set it self up to the point of me checking it had been recognised which it had, I then tested it in battlefield bad company and call of duty 4 and it worked a treat. everyone I asked said it was clear enough for them to hear and it improved the game for me as I could warn people they were going to be shot and taunt those I had shot as well as congratulating those who shot me. Bob Hopkins said it was good to talk and he was right.

Blown Away

Just hooked these upto my Creative X-Fi Gamer xtreme card and was amazed at how good they sound. I thought my last speakers were loud but these are amazing. Playing a game of watching a film the sound is crstal clear with a nice deep base sound coming from the Sub Woofer that isn't even turned up that much. Buy them now they are welll worth the price.

Excellent

I bought this to replace a Philips stereo which lasted a year. In the hope of this lasting longer, I spent another 50+ pounds on this model, and I was very happy.

In the box comes a slim remote controller (without AAA batteries), with an English manual (for UK) and a power lead. The stereo itself is very well designed, and sturdy. It does not seem to be made out of the cheap plastic my previous Philips, Sharp, Hitachi stereos were made out of.

The stereo itself is not light, not heavy. Its handle is huge, the aerial is normal, cassette deck is well positioned with the buttons, and the CD tray is on the top. One down side is that the CD door is quite large, so it takes some time to open and close - but the oil will wear down on that.

Whats not mentioned anywhere is that this speaker actually has CONVEX shaped speakers, which is rather wierd, as normal speakers are concave shaped, but apparently its a design to allow more dynamic and wide music output which I thought was quite nice. The speakers go very loud. The volume button has two buttons, so its rather annoying if you want to put the music from level 1 to 10 without having to wait 30 seconds. The speakers do have good power to them, and I thought it was excellent sound, especially with the Mega Bass function (although this didn't make MUCH of a difference with it being on).

The player can play MP3 too and has an Operate button on the front to turn on and off. It also has a sleep function which is handy, so you can set it to turn off by itself. The player also has I think 3 presents for the equaliser, which you can't change. Doesn't make a huge difference changing this but might do depending on your music.

Overall, a very very good sturdy well built model from Sony. Impressed so far. Definitely worth a purchase!

*This model seems to have been out since 2006, however Sony have released a new model which is exaclty the same which released in Nov 2007. The new model is £80 at the moment - compared to £65 for this model, and the new model is Blue in colour. There is however NO difference as far as I am aware between the two models apart from the colour, and the shelf life its had.*

Purchased this and the SoundAsleep Pillow. Not much to choose between them on sound quality. However, this item half the price, you can keep your favourite pillow, and it is less likely to be heard by your sleeping partner.

Big sound in a Small Package

Top marks to both Labtec and Amazon. Delivery was very quick through Amazon so thank you.

Labtec- these speakers have to be nomintated in the bargain of year catagory. For the price; they are well worth it. The bass is really crisp and clear, no tin foil sounding noises can be heard. Set-up was very simple, took 5 minutes. As I only need them for my desktop, the short wires are not a problem.

Nice piece of kit, but the screen is far too bright,

Over all this is a quality device, the build quality is good, there has clearly be a lot of thought put into the design, the buttons are logically laid out and easy to use. The sound quality is impressive, its so crisp and clear it hardly requires any volume to hear it. The set of alarm options are comprehensive, I can see why some people might see it as fiddly to set an alarm but the flexibility of options weekdayweekendsatsunonce means you hardly ever have to change things once they are set up.

The clock also has a USB port so that you can update its software to fix bugs, and upgrade it to DAB+ when it come out (there will be a cost for this).

Its not perfect though, its a little on the chunky side compared to older clock radios.....nothing stupid, but it could do with being 10%-15% smaller. The screen size is a little small especially considering the amount of real estate on the front of the device. The viewing angle of the screen is quite restrictive, my bedside cabinet is about a foot higher than my bed, and I can't see the time without lifting my head. The screen is still abit too bright at night even when the brightness is turned right down. There are also a few glitches with the display where it doesn't refresh the content and the time gets imposed over the top of something it shouldn't.

EDIT: After initially being impressed I eventually returned this as the screen brightness even at lowest levers was unacceptable.

Excellent value

Brilliant for the money. Deep, rich sound quality - even at low volume - plus an ipod charger/player, too. We bought this for the dining room but it's so good we are considering using it instead of our main sound system, which cost a great deal more. My husband would have liked a DAB radio but I have to say I have no criticisms at all. Highly recommended.

Squeezebox duet Setup walkthrough

This is a great little product. Love the Album art, track metadata, FLAC playback, quality of the built in DAC, portability... I could go on!

As most other reviewers have mentioned, it's a bit tricky to setup so I'll walk you through my setup experience:

1) Firstly added the MAC addresses (handset and receiver) to my router's MAC filtering access list as I've opted for controlled wireless security in my home. This is not necessary unless you've setup MAC filtering.They are printed on each product.
2) Installed all necessary plugs and cables to each device. I opted for Ethernet and coaxial connections to my AV receiver and wireless router.
3) Placed the handset in the charging dock as the pre-charged battery life soon depletes quickly when initially setting up.
4) Registered the devices on the website link found on the printed flyer. Don't worry about the PIN at the moment.
5) Downloaded and installed SqueezeCentre from Slimdevices website to my computer.
6) On the handset searched for available wireless networks and entered my WEP key for my wireless router (assuming you have a secure wireless network)
7) Hopefully you should get a strong wireless signal showing on the handset screen. Update the handset's firmware from the setting menu.
8) After restart you should get a PIN number. Enter in the registration website for the products.
9) Then if not already done, pair the receiver with the handset. Press and hold the front button on the receiver until the logo turns solid white.
10) Finally make sure your playback device is set to the correct source, scroll to the music source (computer folder or NAS for example which you set up in SqueezeCentre's options menu - can take a while to scan the music files) and hit play!
11) Enjoy!

Hopefully this has helped iron out some of the initial setup problems that give many a headache if not too familiar with tech stuff.

Cheap but cheerful

The DAB radio is one of the best I have tried (in the fringe area where I live) for reception and stability, by contrast FM reception is poor with the fixed wire antenna, an external aerial connector would have been useful. CD/MP3/wma and USB all play well and the sound quality, though not hi-fi, is good. Remote buttons rather small. Tape cassette is very basic and limited to manual operation only. Flimsy build but good value at this price.

A Quality Turntable.

I bought this deck mainly to record the shed loads of vinyl I've had sitting in the loft for years and to replace my old turntable,and I'm happy to say it does both tasks really well.Once you've worked out how to use the"Audacity" software recording vinyl is simple,and its obviously capable of a lot more.The manual could be a little better at telling you how to get started. Its a joy to be able to listen to stuff I have'nt heard in ages.

Great WiFi, Rotten DAB

This WiFi radio sounds great and is both easy to use and very effective at finding and playing the plethora of internet radio stations.
However....The DAB reception is very poor and struggles to be listenable despite being in a site which normally provides excellent reception on other radios. It is portable although I do not know how long the 6 batteries will last. It is great to be able to continue listening in the bathroo, to an internet station!
