A little disappointing

Do not expect plug in Christmas light effects - particularly in winter - it needs reasonable light in daytime to work. An overcast day will not produce much light at night. Fine for summer, but a bit touch and go for a Christmassy effect.

Winder broke

I only used it a few times and then the winding handle broke. Very disappointing.

took a while but look good

Got these lights a month ago, first thing is they look smart, when on or off, when I first got them 3 out of the 8 lights failed to work, after a bit of tinkering mainly due to bad connections with the battery all 8 are now working & have had no further problems.
The lights give off a nice glow but don't expect them to light your garden up as they are more for appearance than light.
That said I am more than happy with them & at around 25quid for 8 lights you can't go far wrong.

Pretty much faultless.

If you're looking for a very easy to install light to help you get the key in the door on a dark night then this is perfect. I've already got 4 and I'm about to order another 2 so every outbuilding has one.

If you're looking for a bright light to deter intruders then look elsewhere as this is not really a security light.

does not last

I bought this torch when price was slightly higher. It worked excellently for about 12 months and thenstarted flickering. after a while it eventually stopped working completely,. It seems very well made from the outside but the internal workings are cheep and cheerfull. not worth the money

Sun Jar

This is really cool. It would make a great gift for anyone especially the eco-conscious. It looks unusual, is a talking point for guests and it saves on electricity. I might get a few more and make a feature of them. You can even use them outside as they are waterproof.

The only torch you ever need?

Or thats the quote on many a website. I bought this torch as an aid for my outdoor persuits including finding my chocolate brown lab in the darker months.

I was replacing a 4D cell maglite that i used to own and was looking for a long life LED version when i stumbled upon this.

The battery life is supposed to be 50 hours plus and the range of the beam 60m. It has a flood - focus adjustment (operated in the same way as the maglite). The focus is incredibly bright and intense, but the flood is still quite focussed; I dont get the same coverage I did from the maglite but the light is much whiter and range is equally as good.

I was more impressed by build quality. All screw fittings feel well engineered and secure. Rubber seals are neat and well sized but my biggest shock came when I opened the torch up to inspect the battery compartment. Instead of the usual method of inserting the battery, this torch has a canister type arrangement that is completely removed, put batteries in the insert, replace the insert, but the most surprising thing is the attention to quality; all contacts and current pathways are gold plated for the best possible connection.

All this coupled with the small size, weatherproof construction, incredible light weight, pouch with belt loop and clip and well presented packaging makes this the only torch I will ever need.

Active Products 3 LED wind up torch

The light is adequate for use in the pitch dark, looking in dark cupboards, etc., but it isn't very bright. We certainly don't get anywhere near 30/90 minutes from one minute winding. More like 10 to 15 mins. of mixed 1/3 LED usage. I use it every day and it is useful, and I would buy again, but remember that it isn't a very bright torch!

Solr panel weakness

Althougth impressive difficulty in retaining the solar light for more than six hours and the panel as been in the full sun for the last few days.

Very Bright Headlight

This is one of the brightest headlights I have ever seen.
There are 5 super bright LED's in this compact headlight.
The Headlight comes complete with 3 x AAA batteries and these are positioned inside the LED head fixture.
The Headlight is simple to use, has a comfortable adjustable headband.
The headlight has via its built in push button switch 7 different LED sequences to suit any situation.
One last interesting feature is that the LED and Battery head fixture can be removed from the elasticated headband and fixed via the surface mounting magnet to any steel surface.

Note that this Headlight is only suitable for camping, hiking, reading cycling use and is not suitable for immersion in water or very rugged military type use (however it would be suitable for non tactical military use.

I highly recommend this product and for the current purchase price is a"steal" - buy it and keep it in you car, briefcase - you will never know when you might need it.

The Definitive Flashlight

I would recommend this torch to everyone. It is brighter than any other torch I own. I've heard stories that these last forever, are waterproof, fireproof etc. Looking at my Maglite I would well believe it but don't fancy testing it!!
It has a good weight without being heavy and you can tell straight away it is quality product. It allows you too focus from a wide beam of light to a more concentrated spot in a quarter turn. I have had the cheaper copies of this torch but now I see why they are cheaper.
If you decide to buy a Maglite don't cheapen it with low quality batteries and buy the best you can.
