Don't buy if you have a Mac

Do not buy this product if you have a Mac as the support team only have Windows tools to fix problems. I bought a new map but after installing it the device is"unable to store settings: file access error". The only solution from TomTom is to plug the device into a Windows PC and run a Windows exe. So I'm stuck with a device that either won't work or works with an out-of-date map. AVOID.

Bought this card last month as well as a few others and have had no problems, found it quicker than Other brands to! Excellent!!

bought this fantastic little charger to take on holiday it's not even the size of a standard 3 pin plug heard some bad reports about other chargers THIS DEFINATLY IS NOT THE CASE WITH THIS PRODUCT top marks, BUY IT!

Disappointing response from Palm Tech Support

I love my Treo 680, but recently my phone carrier, Orange, ceased support for it, which means that although I can make phone calls, I can't use the web or e-mail. I've been doing some online research but haven't yet found a carrier which specifically mentions the Treo 680, so I e-mailed Palm Tech Support, explained my problem, and asked if they could let me know which carriers do (or don't) support the 680. Their response? "Just find out for yourself." (True quote!) So although I would have given the Treo 5 stars, I'm going to have to deduct one for Palm's really strange idea of what constitutes customer service.

Great, but....

My first (and second PDA). Very handy little gadget. When it works it works really well. Here's the but: sadly it isn't very reliable. My first packed up after a couple of months - the screen stopped working completely. Amazon changed it - no hassle. Second one worked well for 6 months, then the keyboard key stopped working (annoying but not fatal /k is the shortcut). Now the screen input is very inaccurate, freezes regularly. The screen recalibration hangs for hours - you just have to keep touching the squares. Contact palm support - it is covered as it is under 12 months since I registered it - but Palm are impossible to contact. Email - forget it! Phone - round and round in answerphone circles! Webiste - forget it!

I really like my Palm, but it just doesn't work well enough for me to say 'buy one'. When I can afford to I will be looking elsewhere.

Great!

I've been using my Garmin for 3 months now and I don't know how I ever managed without it. I have a 130 mile daily commute on the dreaded M25 and it has already saved me from sitting in queues for hours. The screen is very clear and being slightly bigger than norm lets you see more of the route ahead. I steered clear of TOMTOM due to reputation and tried to read as many reviews of the alternative Sat Navs to try and pick the best. I am not dissapointed with my choice, I wouldn't go out without it!

Sat/Nav has evolved at last!

For an off-the -shelf system, this is the only choice to make! Sturdy, user friendly, simple and effective touch-screen instructions, pre-loaded maps, excellent bluetooth handsfree connection for your mobile phone...the list is endless.The dual purpose kit (car/bike) makes this sat/nav superb value for money.Love it.

Palm TX build faults

Before deciding to purchase a Palm TX, you would be well advised to type"Palm TX digitizer problem" into Google. You will discover a very common build quality problem with this device. The problem is that at some time between 2 months and 10 months of use, the touchscreen will fail. Attempts to carry out a soft reset of the device results in an endless loop with the touchscreen program, which can only be exited by pressing the"home" button. A hard reset results in the same endless loop, but this time it cannot be escaped from. Several commentators on the web advise that in addition to the known digitizer problem, there are also software issues which cause this endless loop. This is a great shame, because the predecessor to this device, the Palm T5 is an excellent tool, I have used one for 3-years with no issues. I attempted to upgrade to the Palm TX to obtain the additional benefit of Wi-fi. I would advise anyone considering the Palm TX to research these issues prior to spending £170-£200 on this device. Whilst Amazon are absolutely excellent with their after sales support, do you really want the hassle of a well specified device that will certainly pack up on you? Once out of warranty, a replacement digitiser for the Palm TX costs circa £30 for a reconditioned unit, and circa £55 for a new one. For that you have to fit it yourself. Sending your device away for repair adds postage and labour costs.
Palm appear to have skimped on build quality with the TX in order to keep the price down. Not much use if it doesn't work though! Please don't just take my advice, do your research first, then walk away from the TX.

Don't hesitate to buy this excellent product

This is the best electronic dictionary you can buy. Its design is practically perfect, and the books it contains are not"pocket" editions; they are big, first-rate references that you wouldn't want to carry around with you (this dictionary is about the size of a Palm Pilot). It's much more convenient to use than running to your PC every time you want to look up a word. Check the prices of the references in the PW-E500 and you will see it is worth every penny. Sharp also markets similar models in the US and Canada. Each has its own advantages. One of the Canadian models (the PW-E560) has, in addition to the Oxford Dictionary of English, the Oxford-Hachette French Dictionary, one of the best French-English, English-French dictionaries available. Sharp's electronic dictionaries have lots of useful features, but two of the best are the Quick View button and the Super Jump button. The Quick View button instantly gives you a condensed view of long entries so that you can easily navigate to the part of speech or precise sense you are looking for. The Super Jump button allows you to jump to the definition of a word that appears within an entry, and then return to the first entry. Let's hope Sharp keeps making excellent products like this.

I recently bought this for a loved one for their birthday.

Not only was the recipient pleased with the gift (to be used for her crosswords) but i haven't seen them without a crossword in weeks!!! I myself havent used it, but as a gift its worked like a christian in church.

ER 8000

I found this to be an excellent bit of kit. Being able to jump from one function to another is a very useful feature and the content seems very thorough. The learn function, allowing you to store words, has proved to be very useful as has the solve function which has been great for helping with all sorts of word puzzles. The product is a convenient size and feels and handles very well. The screen is a good size but my only qualm is I would like the screen to have better visibility. You can vary the contrast and the size of the font, which is useful, but a light (of sorts) would be a real bonus. Nevertheless overall I have been very impressed.

WORKS WELL

At last, after a year of irritation from my navman, a satnav that does what it claims. Starts up quickly, and the auto start/stop when you put it on/off the cradle is a bonus. Traffic programme works well, with good reception, and can show hold ups even without a route programmed in. Bluetooth actually works with my phone. Only quirk is that when entering a postcode, the uk is subdivided into england wales and scotland. Once I realised I had to choose wales to enter a Cardiff postcode all was well!!! Otherwise Ive had no problems, and I find the restriction of uk mapping only on this model a bonus

iPAQ 214 review

The iPAQ 214 has its quirks. The buttons I find too low in the device. If they were a little prouder it would be easier to change pages while reading e-books in bed at night. It is also not so comfortable in the hand as my older iPAQ h1930 running windows CE 4.20. I have only had the iPAQ214 for a few days but one thing that does irritate is the seemingly missing ability to scroll to the next page in a large documents. It scrolls to the next highlighted word, but that is not the same thing.
I tried a 4gig SD card to view the 3.3 gig Wikipedia I purchased but it would not work. But on the compact flash card it works a treat, so I am very pleased, as my old h1930 could not see anything over 2 gigs.
The larger screen is a nice bonus, and makes it suitable for night reading. The battery life is impressive, after reading for an hour and a half I still had 85% power left, way better than my old PDA.
Windows mobile 6 take a little getting used to, but I am sure it will be fine. Internet connecting could not have been easier. It is a nice bit of kit, not so convenient to handle as the 3.5 inch, but worth it.
I thought long and hard before buying this, and I am glad I did. Amazon were incredibly quick to deliver post free. It arrived the very next day after ordering. Apart from the low profile buttons which make it a little difficult to hold and manoeuvre the device without it slipping, I am well pleased. It does not feel as sturdy as my iPAQ h1930, and the back case is not so rigid. Also the stylus is a pain, the end piece that slots so neatly into the case when done, sticks into your finger when you write. Summing up. 7 out of 10.

UNRELIABLE - KEEPS CRASHING

Bought this as a replacement for my old Palm Zire which had been fantastic. My first Z22 lasted 6 months before crashing. It rebooted fairly successfully several times then died completely. Amazon were brilliant & relaced it, but this replacement only lasted 1 week. Amazon replaced it again & this one lasted about a month but today has died & refuses to reboot at all. I GIVE UP & WILL BUY A COPMLETELY DIRFFERENT MAKE. I had read other reports from buyers & should have steered well clear really . Lots of hastle, very unreliable.

Do not buy Belkin!!!!!!!!

My advice for people looking to use a wireless network, do not buy Belkin, i've read many reviews on the adapters in particular and i couldn't agree more with what most have said. I am on my second wireless adapter now after the first one died recently, this second one is still useless to a point where i've regretted wasting my money on it, i should've gone for another brand, something that won't crash my pc everytime i try and look at something online or everytime i download some music or look at Google Earth. Even after trying the latest drivers for the damn thing or reinstalling the software it still crashes my pc, luckily i can reconnect after my pc boots up and hence i'm managing to type this review now.
Basically do not buy this useless piece of junk if you want a stress free wireless internet connection, go for something a little more expensive that is easier to set up and does not crash your pc, enough said i think.

Wrong item ordered

This description doesn’t make it very clear that the unit is only suitable for the new TomTom Go models (300/500/700). It is not suitable for the original (Classic) version.

So good I bought a second one

Unfortunately I lost my first Fortrex 101 photographing somewhere near Thetford, but I couldn't find anything better at the price to replace it with, so I immediately bought another one. The new one booted up first time straight out of the box within a couple of minutes.
I haven't noticed any trouble with waterproofing as reported in other reviews, but I have noticed that it is important when closing the battery compartment to press the cover quite firmly until you hear it click shut, as there is a rubber seal that makes it quite stiff to close the battery compartment completely.

Works okay but USB would be better!

I am using this with a Targus USB converter that I also bought from Amazon - shame Garmin can't make a single cable and save us all a bit of cash!

Had a few problems getting started - the FAQ section of the Garmin website pointed me in the right direction. To find the USB to serial converter cable, you might need to look in the"System" part of Windows"Control Panel" (found from"Settings" in the"Start" menu). Have a look on the Hardware tab at the Device Manager and you will be able to find which COM port the cable has been assigned. You can then tell whatever map software you're using where to find the GPS.
