Good and Sturdy for N95

Got this for My Nokia N95, at the look of iy i thought it might not work, But Fits very well. Quite sturdy, the Grip is good, The charger point is not Blocked as it was in a few others.
Good Value for the Money i spent.
Delivery was really Quick, Got it the next day.

Useless manual, and very hard to figure out the device status

The manual that comes with the device is abysmally bad: it does not even specify how to switch the device on and off! After emailing BlueNEXT and fiddling with the GPS for a few days, we figured out that one has to keep the button pressed"more than 4 seconds" to switch the device on. If you press less than that, the blue led comes on, the red too, then red blinks ... - very confusing. Then it would not get any signal unless outdoors (not even by the window). Lost satellite connection a few times while on the motorway, where there are no obstacles. And if the combination GPS+PDA does not work, then it's very hard to figure out where exactly the trouble is.

Brilliant!

I spent well over 3 days looking at what GPS to get my parents for christmas.
Firstly i started off with TOMTOM after just seeing an advert for one (yes advertising works!) then after reading some reviews of"looses signal","gets lost""cheap tack" and"falls of window" i switched to Navmans. I know nothing about this technology so i hunted around again at the latest Navmans and after finding one with Europe/USA mapping it was really expensive.

I then went onto my flight simulator X (brill btw) and noticed that my B747 had a Garmin GPS system. That got me thinking and i worked out that if areoplanes use it then they must be a good make.

After flying around Boro in a plane i went to Garmin website and looked at each model under £260, started with the 250 which is good but only simple mapping, then up to the European version, i nearly bought this one off Amazon because of the cheap price and good reviews. but i didnt..

after asking mum/dad some questions, i discovered plans to go the USA in a few years time, then i looked at this little gem of the Nuvi 270.
After hunting around i found prices ranging from £260 (gps.com [or something similar] to £150 on Ebay), i avoided ebay on this one in case it goes wrong as i know Amazon have a brill returns policy.

SOo i buy it off here for £211.99 (Nov 2007) and it arrived a few days later by HDNL. I got it out and without reading the instructions set it up, after around 30seconds it found the Street, Town and Country of where i was. and i'd accurate to within about 10feet.

I then tested it out, best route to Cheltenham (one that i took regulary) was the same as what i would take anyway, brilliant then Scotland again avoiding the Whitby Coastal road was a wise choice.

I love this little Garmin, although not really tested it seems pretty good with all the extras, i would go with this instead any of the ones that play music (thats what iPods are for, not Satnavs) (get an FMT for listening to pod in the car)

So if you want a GPS go for this gem, well work £211

Worries dispelled

Bought this product for my laptop to transfer files from my mobile phone. Attracted by the ludicrous price, which was cancelled out by the delivery price tag of £6.98! In addition some similar USB dongle feedback not so good, so had some worries. However, when this dongle arrived (on time), and I plugged it into my laptop, the XP system recognised it immediately and it has worked fine. Didn't need to load the mini CD which came with it which was a bonus. My only complaint is that there were no instructions with the packaging. It was only after some experimenting that I discovered how to transfer files from my mobile; you have to right click the bluetooth icon on the systems tray and select receive files, otherwise the device won't"see" your phone and connect for that purpose. File transfer speed seemed not unduely slow. Should add that the pricing system for postage which seemed disproportionate to the size of the product is a single price apparently imposed by Amazon on third party sellers. So the dongle price is virtually zero to compensate for the delivery (if you buy a bigger product, the price of that will be slightly increased to include some of the additional cost of the postage). So, in sum, would recommend to others, using XP at least. Not sure if it will work with Vista.

Poor performance

I purchased the unit a year ago and found it to be unreliable even in open land without trees around. It's so bad that I no longer bother to use it.

It frequently reports weak satellite signals. When it does so it brings up a messsage that you have to clear by pressing ENTER before it will restart to track. This is very difficult if you have both hands occupied riding a horse or cycle.

When it works it gives a good result.

Not at all recommended.

Great piece of kit

I chose the Zumo 550 because although I am buying it for my bike, I don't want to have a problem using it my car too. This comes with car (in which it talks to me) and bike (in which it doesn't unless I use a Blue-Tooth head-set)with full maps for Europe and even a quality carrying case to protect it. I LOVE IT!!!

Much better than Archos case....

This is a nice quality, very reasonably priced case. Looks much more secure than some other ones available. The best thing, though, was the delivery time - selected standard delivery, arrived within 24 hours! Excellent vendor, have just ordered a mains charger from them too now.

Don't buy if you have a Mac

Do not buy this product if you have a Mac as the support team only have Windows tools to fix problems. I bought a new map but after installing it the device is"unable to store settings: file access error". The only solution from TomTom is to plug the device into a Windows PC and run a Windows exe. So I'm stuck with a device that either won't work or works with an out-of-date map. AVOID.

Excellent unit

Upsides: Good clear display and audible instructions (which is what I wanted). Map content for street names seems to be excellent. Occasionally the routes chosen seem non-intuitive, but all have worked very well. Traffic rerouting has kept me away from problems successfully several times already. Four stars rather than five because -
Downsides: Only able to store 12 routes (unless they can also be stored on memory card?) Speaker volume could do with being a bit louder (usually have to use at 100%).
Amazon advertise the 770 with Perfect Partner 12V vehicle adapter cable, but the unit comes with this (incorporating the traffic information antenna) which makes the advertisment misleading.

Bargain Purchase

This was my first Sat Nav and I was a bit apprehensive about what type to purchase as the market offers so many.

I needn't have worried though, from the moment you take it out of the box everything is so easy. I am really impressed with all the different features, I really didn't expect such a reasonably prices item to offer so much. It doesn't matter where you are, you can find shops, petrol stations etc, ideal if you are on holiday and don't know the local area. You can save personal locations in the favourites menu...again so easy. It even has a warning when you are in a speed camara zone...brilliant.
I would recommend this to anyone, in fact my pal went and bought the same model within the first week of seeing my Sat Nav.

Best Gadget Ever...

I have had my Garmin Forerunner 201 for about 4 years now and have to say that it is simply the best gadget i have ever bought and i have bought a few!
It is consistently accurate, very easy to use and lightweight. It picks up the signal very quickly and i have had no problems with the signal dropping.
I am looking to upgrade to the 305 with heart rate monitor. That is the only thing i can imagine would improve an already fantastic gadget!

works with vista, plus great support

i saw this product amongst alot of similar versions.
i have bought 2 different makes and none worked with vista this one did.
I found this easy to install and it is a nice quality item and a with fair price.
when i asked a question about the product i got a immediate response.

Good smart phone, practical rather than flash

Previously I owned Samsung Blackjack and Sony P1 but sold these and bought the Centro - of the three its the best. This phone isn't as feature packed as the others, it doesn't have Wifi or 3G. Where Palm excels is in the area of usability, the touch screen and keyboard work very well together and the applications are nicely integrated, it has copy and paste just like a real computer! The Centro software is looking a bit old fashioned now but its is very usable and I still have yet to find a better calendar application than the Palm one. The MP3 player works well, but be warned the centro is provied with a 2.5mm jack plug not the standard 3.5mm of most headphones. One annoyance with Pocket Tunes, the built in MP3 player, was the fact it refused to allow the transfer of WMA files through Windows Media Player without me payting 15 quid for a a software upgrade.

For Palm/Treo oweners: The Centro is technologically the same as Palm 755p but in a smaller package. Treo 680 owners will find much that is familiar here, it uses similar software but the screen is slightly smaller than the 680, but with the same resolution so you end up with crisper characters. The 1.3 M pixel camera is much better than the low-res one that came with the 680/650. The keyboard is more cramped than the 680 but quite usable.

In conclusion if you want a small usable smartphone with a qwert keyboard and you don't need wifi or 3G its worth buying. If you want something thin, sexy, ultracool and not so user friendly buy something else :-)
