Batter then my Tomtom 920 In Getting a Signal Inside!!!

Had Tomtom software installed on my Nokia N95 8GB Mobile Phone needed a GPS Receiver N95 has a Internal GPS but it is totally RUBBISH saw this one was nice and small just what I needed.
Well it is easy as 1,2,3 My N95 found it straight VIA Bluetooth but what really Supraised me was that it cached a SIGNAL INSIDE MY HOUSE YES INSIDE!!! so I turned everything off to try again this time I got my Tomtom 920 out and it could not find a signal inside BUT did manage to find it after 3 minutes just showing 1 BAR then I opened the Tomtom on my Nokia N95 & BOY I was SHOCKED got a signal in 20 seconds and showing 3 BARS This Must be something to do with the CHIPSET thats inside this"GPS 2000 FREEDOM" uses a Chipset called MTK while the one in Tomtom is Star Sirf but MTK RULEZZZZZZZZZZ Buy it you wount be dispointed this GPS will not let you down it is so small yet so POWERFUL in getting a lock on satellites.

rubbish aftersales service do not buy a tom tom

I was bought this tom tom as a birthday present & the battery does not last any more than 90 mins, so you constantly need to keep it plugged into the cigarette lighter. Tom Tom say the battery should last 4 hours. I have returned this unit back to Tom Tom 4 times now & it still is no better. they refuse to exchange it for a new one or refund the money. When I ring up they refuse to let me talk to a manager -their service is a absolute joke! I have been without it for about 8 weeks in total while they are supposedly repairing it. I have now given up on them & it & have thrown it in the bin where it belongs & am now looking for another make. I would not recommend anyone to buy one.TomTom Go 520 Music Edition with UK Mapping

you know, its funny how we all take the little things for granted, as you sit at home, or the work place if your employer has not blocked amazon as it is probably not relevant for your job, looking at your computer screen, have you given a thought to where the electricity comes from?

if you are a lady, or indeed a gentleman, whom likes to tend to their selfcare, did you use a hair dryer when you got out of the shower this morning? and if so i bet you dont remember putting batteries in it.

when you had that nice cup of tea, an essential part of our british culture, did you stand sobbing over a boiling pan, oh no i bet you just used the kettle.

Plugs are an important part of modern life. as much as i would like to boil my water over a fire i made by rubbing sticks together, its just not practical in todays hectic society.

we are pressured to work a 38 hour week, and fullfill all the expectations of family life too. social norms are reinforced by the media. money success hapiness love. so of course we need a holiday too.

must these two key aspects of modern life, electricity through the medium of a plug, and going on holiday, be mutually exclusive?

NO! I'd recommend to everybody buy this 'wonderful piece of kit'. you plug your plug into this plug and then plug it in. simple, tasteful, my favorate thing

Brilliant - does exactly what it says on the box

My PS3 - as a keyboard - not as a controller (just to follow up on other reviews - it doesn't say anywhere that I have read that it should replace your controller, PS buttons etc)
My PC - Perfectly

This is a perfect keyboard for use with your TV as a monitor - missing some keys F1 to F12 but if you are using this with your TV how often will you need those keys - the software that comes with the keyboard is useful also as you can adjust the speed of the touch pad - which I have to say works very well.
In relation to battery life I got this last week and out of the box it says 9 days charge remaining.
Only issue i have had so far is having previously connected it to my phone and then switching on my PC - it picked up the phone first as it was the first 'live device' found. A little quirky to get connected back to the PC but there is a 'find' button on the dongle and another on the bottom of the keyboard
Overall 10 out of 10 for this and would recommend to anyone that uses their tv as a media centre.

Everything you'll ever need for your outdoor pursuits.

Having owned this for around 5 months now, I can honestly say it's the best purchase I've ever made. Although I enjoy outdoor pursuits, I have no sense of direction whatsoever. With this little box of tricks, I can relax, safe in the knowledege that I really will be able to find my way back to the car, no matter where I roam. I have to say that the mapsource maps are essential though, since the basemap is too basic for serious navigation. I have the city navigator maps for the whole of Europe installed on a 2GB Micro SD card, but you can also purchase topo maps for the uk too. I bought my mapsource cd's from a well known internet auction site, and saved a fortune. Well worth considering. With the mapsource maps installed, you can get turn by turn routing to your destination. Although there's no voice direction, it does bleep, and highlight the next turn with a close up of what's required, so you can use it in the car too. I didn't bother with the official car mount, but instead used a couple of velcro sticky squares from B&Q, saving about £20. The unit has so many functions, you'll never use it to its full capacity, but it's very reliable, and well made. I use it everyday, whether it's to find my way about the city, or on top of a mountain. The Barometric altimeter is useful for knowing just how far you have to go during your climb, and the waypoints facility allows you to return to your safe route back down, even in zero visibility. The list of points of interest contained on the mapsource maps are impressive to say the least. Whenever I visit new towns or cities, I have an amazing list of every type of business and service that I could ever need, including the phone numbers. Overall, if you want the best recreational gps on the market, this is the one for you.

Garmin Foretrex 201

Hi there!

Just got the Foretrex 201 yesterday, nice piece of kit, and easier to use than the ETrex and other units that Garmin make. Seems to work ok, smaller than i'd expected, but easy to see the display, navigate around and use.

Backlight is very good, even in total darkness, and enables the user to read the screen at arm's length. The strap is good and easy to adjust and should fit most people quite well.

No built in base map, but then you knew that before you looked here, didn't you...

I'm going to be using the device for giving quick locations and navigation in areas where I know roughly where I am, but would like to be able to get straight to a place quickly.

I bought this unit rather than the 101, because it is rechargeable. The charger is massive though, so don't think you'll be able to just stash it in your rucksack.

Essential for learning spanish...

I previously had a rather large spanish dictionary but wanted something a little more discrete so i could take it to work and learn spanish. I wont echo the comments of other reviewers but was shocked at how many features there are on this thing. Even though id got learn it yourself books / programs etc some of the grammar descriptions were the most concise id read. At work i cant fire up a full program on my PC or take a massive book. But i can take this and have a few games of spanish hang man, brush up on grammar, look up words etc.

Having seen a few other devices (some of which are [...]). Im very smug with my purchase.

Interesting journeys!

Straight out of the box and onto the windscreen. Easy to set up - type in postcode destination and away you go! Tested on 60 mile journey from Bristol to Tragegar. All was well until uneven surface through roadworks caused unit to fall off the windscreen and onto the floor. Stuck back on and continued. Surprised at instruction to leave the main road about 10 miles short of Tradegar and head to the hills via a narrow lane. Two miles later I ignored the instruction to take a left up a dirt track -"recalculating" spluttered the Nuvi through the very poor speaker. On reaching the main road again I was instructed to take right turn - surprising, as I was fairly sure this would take me back towards Bristol. About 5 mile into the road works and clearly heading the wrong way I was greeted by a chequered flag - apparently I had arrived! Several more miles before I could turn around and type in the postcope again. This time the Nuvi didn't mention the left turn up the country road and I eventually arrived some 30 minutes later than originally predicted.

Next day we took a trip to the Big Pit. Eventually arrived after doing several u-turns and deciding not to enter a few back yards in the locality. Strangely, as we were parking in the car park of the Big Pit there was no chequered flag and the Nuvi spluttered something about doing a U-turn!

On the wasy back from the Big Pit we let the Nuvi have another go. This time it chose a single-track lane. 3-4 miles on this lane with, thankfully, no traffic coming the other way (probably hadn't seen a vehicle in years!) Almost succeeded in getting us to the main road but, unfortunately, the Nuvi didn't know (and the local authorities hadn't warned) that the last 200 yards of this lane no longer exists as it's been turned into a mud bath accessible by JCBs only!

If you want a mystery tour in Wales this is the gadget for you!

Looking forward to taking the Nuvi to France. No doubt we'll see parts that your average tourist doen't know exist.

Rider version2

Very good piece of Kit, comes with mounting brackets that should suit any sort of bike.Works well on the bike(better than any other Sat Navs for Bikes that Ive seen).Bought the car mount kit(ensure it is the correct V2 version), which works well and is no fuss to swap between car and bike.The rider2 can be used tas a rider to pillion wireless coms set if you buy an extra headset. My only gripe is that the extra headsets are fairly expensive.Then again, you get what you pay for in the world of intercom systems. Recommended.

Hit and Miss

There are loads of products like this now, but a year or so ago this was one of the few available. So I bought one. Lasted a day or two until a police car overtook me on the motorway and there was a loud bang. Thankfully no damage to the iPod but the Tunecast never worked again. No idea why. So I bought another one. What I've found is that sometimes it works really well and other times it doesn't work well at all. Have tried lots of different fixes... Being the only person in the car seems to help (again, no idea why) as does having the iPod on my lap. Even when it's working, though, I generally have to keep tuning to different frequencies because Radio 2 repeatedly elbows my tunes out of the way. Frustrating. One day I'll buy a car stereo that allows me to plug the iPod in, but for now this will have to do.

After buying HP iPAQ 214 (my very first PDA) and being very disappointed with the case provided (it doesn't open out so impossible to use iPAQ 214 in the case - useless!!!!) I decided to plump for this one.

I would definitely recommend this product to others based on my first impressions (only got the product today!!).

This little gadget, small enough to put in your pocket, is a MUST for any travelrs to Spanish speaking destinations who have any hesitancy!
