My First Sony

YABBA-DABBA-DOO! I used to own this years ago and it lasted me a good few years. Believe it or not this was my first entry to the Sony Corporation. It was quite a nifty thing.

Worth for the price

This walkman is an excellent product from sony.This product is for those who want to have walkman with radio and that too with amazing sound quality.The sound quality is so good that you can't go back to ordinary sound setting if you started listening with mega bass at first.The othe good features in this product are auto reverse and 35 hours long battery life.The Radio presets makes your work easily by automatic tuning.On the whole this is a good product for the music lovers which can keep you listening all the day.I strongly recommend this product.

Lovely radio...but with a persistant fault

I have had three of these Alba DAB radios. The first one lasted for two years, then one day the on/off switch broke and that was that. I had already bought one for my Mother by this point, and her's is (fingers crossed) still ok. I decided to take a risk and buy a replacement for myself but after only two months this has now broken, the same problem as before with the on/off switch.

The radio is really nice, easy to use and has a generally good signal strength. However, I would not recommend it as it cannot be fixed easily when broken!

Poor quality

Firstly I too bought this relatively on a bargain, but i was disappointed instantly. Set-up and navigation is pretty easy. My primary use for this is a radio alarm clock, this i found to be be its weakest attribute. The unit does not remember the alarm position every day, therefore you have to set the alarm every day. The switches are very unreliable. To activate the menu button and set the alarm, it does not work all the time. The signal is also patchy, i would set the alarm and radio station (which i was listening to previous night) then in the morning when the alarm is due the radio has lost its signal failing to wake me up!! The volume options are just rubbish, it is stepped up or down rather than being linear, therefore option of loud, louder or quite.
The interference the other reviewers are referring to is due to the poor quality of the transformer and its protection from EMI (electric magnetic interference). I would not recommend using any electronic transformers unless they have a magnetic ferrite attached to the cable this eliminates and EMI.
The dim function on the clock is also pretty useless, bright or completely dim, therefore keep it on bright.
Even if this unit is available for £25, i would not recommend it, don;t waste your money. My one has died now, good riddance.

Dissapointed

Having purchased a cheap, good sounding and very efficient cassette adapter for approx £4 i plumped for an expensive model, which was dissapointing. The device continually caused my i-pod to pause, restart and flip the cassette for/back with a mind on it's own. This was in a VW golf 02 gt tdi.
