Brother DCP-135C Compact Colour Inkjet Multifunction Printer

New Price: £39.00

Review for Brother DCP-135C Compact Colour Inkjet Multifunction Printer:
Not as good as the model it replaced!
I had a DCP-110C before this and that's why i bought this model as a replacement, but Brother have clearly cut corners to save costs, and quite frankly it's awful!
I hate the fact there is no warning before you actually run out of paper - I have a higher spec Brother multi function machine as well (wish I hadn't now!) and that is the same! As the previous reviewer says, its enough to drive you mad!
I've tried various photo printing paper on the machine, and it simply will not accept most! Very annoying!
Brother have lost a customer - I will look at different makes next time!
The 2 main facts I have mentioned are enough to put me off.

Canon PIXMA iP100 - Printer - colour - ink-jet - 100 x 150 mm - up to 20 ppm (mono) / up to 14 ppm (colour) - capacity: 50 sheets - USB, infrared

New Price: £159.08

Review for Canon PIXMA iP100 - Printer - colour - ink-jet - 100 x 150 mm - up to 20 ppm (mono) / up to 14 ppm (colour) - capacity: 50 sheets - USB, infrared:
Excellent in every way except price
I had to buy a new printer as my old Canon i865 was not Vista compatible. My shortlist was the Canon Pixma iP4500 and this Canon Pixma iP100. Both featured excellent photo quality printing, and were comparable in print speeds. The only major differences were size (the iP100 being considerably smaller), and purchase/running cost (the iP100 being considerably more expensive on both).

I bought the iP100 because of its tiny desktop footprint, and have not been disappointed. The photo printing quality is just superb. Canon claims it is"photo lab" quality given its 1 picolitre droplet size, and I can only endorse this claim. It's no slow-coach either on photo printing. Trustedreviews.com recently reviewed the iP100 (and the iP4500) and found the print speeds pretty much identical on 4x6, 5x7, and A4 print sizes. So,"bigger" doesn't necessarily equate to"faster".

The only other thing to note is that the iP100 is actually what Canon describe as a portable printer. It weighs around 2kg and is easily carried around with just one-hand.

My one gripe ?? Canon still DON'T enclose a USB A-B cable in the box, so if you haven't got one already, you can't print from your PC/laptop straight away. When I spend 165 quid on a printer, I expect them to include a 2 quid cable as well, especially when this is essential to use the product - sort it out, Canon !

Review for Lexmark Wireless Inkjet Printer, 4 By 4 Photo Printing, 24PPM Mono, 18PPM Colour:
Cheap, but you get what you pay for
Ordered this printer to use it on my home wireless network. I was attracted by the price. Basically the cheapest WiFi printer around.
This is the sticking point. The printer works great, reasonable quality printing, reasonably quick, but only whilst plugged into the USB cable.
Try as I might I could not get the printer to connect to my WiFi network, or even connect peer-to-peer to my laptop wirelessly. Lexmark technical helpline were very patient, but were also unable to get it to connect, even though the printer appeared to be working fine. A problem that appears common on the web.
I am reasonably experinced in WiFi and networking but ended up returning the printer and purchasing a more expensive ethernet equipped printer.

New Price: £29.50

Review for Epson Stylus S20 Inkjet Printer:
AWFUL printer complete trash do not buy this
I bought this printer thinking it was good because it has 4 separate ink cartridges and each cartridge is £6.99 however when i actually got it home i was shocked at how slow it was. There is a reason why this is so cheap it is so slow it takes about 10 minutes before it will print one page from when you first turn it on. And even then it sounds like it is struggling to print that first page. I gave up on it completely when i turned it on 2 weeks later the epson status monitor popped up and said Epson recommends the genuine Epson cartridges listed above the black cartridge was not recognised and is not a epson compatible cartridge even though i installed the epson cartridge that came in the box. It wouldnt do anything after that a red light remained on the button Complete trash DO NOT BUY IT you will have problems. I now have to return it to the shop and get a refund.

Review for Canon Pixma IX5000 InkJet A3+ Printer:
Easy A3 printing
I have had the printer for nearly a year. Still working without a problem. Prints well on thicker card. I think I have gone up to 240 gsm. It flags low ink levels early but you can monitor the level by looking at the cartridge. If there is still ink in the sponge keep on printing.

Great printer
I use this to print DVDs, and their sleeves which I sell online. Although sleeves with large amounts of block colour can suffer a bit (visible lines of lighter shade), overall it does a fantastic job.

Brother DCP-350C Stylish Colour Inkjet Multi-function Printer with Colour LCD

New Price: £77.78

Review for Brother DCP-350C Stylish Colour Inkjet Multi-function Printer with Colour LCD:
Difficult to fault
I reiterate what the earlier reviewer has said. It always seems to be difficult choosing a printer from the many available, and reviews always seem so variable. However, I can say that for me this is the best printer I've owned. Previously I've always had Lexmark printers, but this is far superior in terms of build quality, features and performance, and all at a great price. Can't fault it. Install was easy too. Very happy.

Absolutely marvellous printer!!
I bought this printer via Amazon and it is brilliant. I started using Canon Pro paper but honestly the output is totally fantastic on Jessops paper too!
Just one small point.... Amazon's ad for this printer says that it is"Dispatched from and sold by pixmania_uk". This is not true. If you buy it from Pixmania be aware that the product will be dispatched to you from France.

New Price: £528.94

Review for Canon PIXMA Pro9500 A3+ Professional Inkjet Printer.:
Gives fantastic results, but a few niggles too
Mono and full colour output from this 10-pigment printer are gorgeous and it is a wonderful gift for more advanced amateur photographers - the sort who are already using Adobe Photoshop etc - if they have enough space for a unit that's 66cm (26 inches) wide.

Ink is expensive and relatively hard to find. Unlike the CLI-8 cartidges for the Pro 9000, there's no multi-pigment PGI-9 pack for this machine. I'm paying £11.74 per cartridge (inc VAT) which means refilling all 10 tanks is about £125 including delivery. Coverage isn't great so it can be expensive to run. Colour fidelity (e.g. flesh tones) can drift significantly when cartridges are low rather than empty, so you have to be ready to change cartridges the first time you see a warning rather than waiting for the 'empty' message. Stock up on extra black and grey cartridges if you like to print in mono.

Canon paper (not easy to find in shops) has a bewildering classification system. For example, Canon says 'Photo Paper Pro' is their 'flagship professional photo paper', but this paper isn't supported by the 9500's bundled 'Easy PhotoPrint Pro' plug-in for Photoshop, and in fact is not recommended for the Pro 9500, though it is for the 8-colour Pro 9000. The difference between SG-101 and SG-201 papers is hard to understand, etc. You can work all this out by diligent web searches - the trick is not to buy a lot of expensive paper until you have worked out exactly what you want.

Bottom line: a 5-star piece of equipment slightly let down by the complexity of keeping it stocked with ink and appropriate paper.

New Price: £299.00

Review for HP Business Inkjet 2800 A3 Colour Parallel USB:
Standards are slipping
We bought this printer as we needed the A3 colour facility. We have had HP printers in the past & found them to be of good quality & reliable. Unfortunately, this printer was neither. We are just about to send our 2nd one back due to faults. The 1st printer had a minor, but annoying fault & the replacement one doesn't work at all! The previous reviewer was right about the paper handling, it is very poor. Our advice would be - don't choose this printer!

HP Photosmart D5160

New Price: £58.99

Review for HP Photosmart D5160:
NICE PICTURES BUT IT IS NOT ALL SUNNY
I have owned a number of printers over the years, but this is my first HP for almost a decade. Picture quality is very good, excellent even, and the ink usage is also very respectable. However, the ink monitor is very suspect. Both tanks have been showing empty for 3 months and the prints are not lacking in any of the component colours. The paper feed for A4 works well, and paper jams are very rare which suits my children who have struggled in the past. The strange feed in system for A5 photo paper is, at best, irritating and normally totally unusable. It shuffles the plastic carrier backwards and forwards, but rarely picks up the paper and attempts to use it require a great amount of attention and luck.
If you just need basic functions then this printer delivers, it is fast with quality output and excellent running costs. It is the peripheral aspects that struggle to keep up.

Maximum print length issues
This is an excellent printer, with one important proviso.

Currently (August 14 2008) the HP Datasheet for this machine shows a maximum custom print capability of 330 x 2540mm. However, the supplied printer driver only permits a maximum of 330 x 482mm. Please note that the displayed maximum print length of 2540mm is incorrect. This is not the fault of Amazon.co.uk , who are reliant on information provided by manufacturers.

Epson Stylus R2400 A3+ Colour Inkjet Photo Printer

Used Price: £405.99
New Price: £400.00

Review for Epson Stylus R2400 A3+ Colour Inkjet Photo Printer:
Beware - disappointed!
Just got my R2400 and first impressions suggest that this is not a good all-round printer; if you expect it do documents on plain paper using the photo black ink it only prints black as grey, and all colours are pale. On Epson's gloss media pictures are greyish and dark. Looks as though it will only work within the limitations of Epson's bespoke media and inks (having just moved from another Epson printer I, like many others, have found it is worth paying for the reliability you get from Epson inks). Many have found printing on matte media more reliable, and the R2400 is supposed to be v.good on black and white printing. For the price and the claims by Epson and reviews....disappointing.

New Price: £102.23

Review for officejet pro K5400dn:
Has a Design Fault - Don't buy it!!!!
I ordered 2 officejet pro K5400dn for work. After setting up the first one, and testing it, even on the first day, it kept chewing up the paper as the print carriage was catching it when using double sided printing (duplexing), so sent it back and got a replacement.

The second one seemed to work fine except for the odd chewing of paper when double sided printing but then after 3 weeks, did it everytime - so sent this one back also.

The first replacement worked fine for the most part for about 4 weeks and then starting chewing again so sent it back with the second replacement which I didn't bother taking out of the box.

This is why I would not recommend this printer at all.

Pleae note that I did not purchase the printer from Amazon but PC World Business (or Equanet as they are otherwise known) - so this is not a bad reflection on Amazon.
