BRILLIANT

Ordered on Wed and got it today (11/4). Read all what everyone else had to say and then decided to get it from someone who I assume was a first time seller and all I can say is that he is great. As a professional Photograper I rate this machine 100% reliable. Didn't take long to work out how to use it and after the intial getting itself sorted out which lasted a few mins and made a lot of funny noises, it was ready for work and beleive it had a lot of work waiting for it as I was in the middle of printing from my xD card when my Lexmark died. It does take around 2 mins to print but I don't mind. If you want something that prints fast, your best bet is not to buy this machine. If you want excellant colour and sharp clear photo's then this is the baby for you. The on machine instruction are so clear and easy to understand which is good for people like me. If I have the nerve then maybe I'll play around with it and print directly from my camera's and my computer but for now I'm so very happy just printing from my card.Finally the price was very good.

Great all rounder

I bought one of these in New Zealand it was $80 (40 quid) having got fed up with my thirsty a crappy Canon.
I needed to do some scanning pretty urgently and wasn't really looking for an all in one but the price was the same as a scanner so I went for it.
The machine is simple and solid, easy to use software and absolutely no teething problems.
It also came with a full set of cartridges (some manufacturers just give you a cartridge containing a small amount of ink in the box). You buy the cartridges separately so that should keep the cost down.
By luck I bought a great little machine, really pleased with it....does anyone want to but a Canon printer??

Multi-function Network Inkjet Printer - This is it !

If you are looking for a reasonably priced multi-function network inkjet printer then look no further. This is it. Connected up in 15 minutes straight out of the box. (you need to provide your own ethernet cable) I think this may be a european model as the power cord had a continental connection plug. A standard PC power lead fits however. (I had a few kicking around)
All the paper instruction are in German or French, but the CD-ROM has stage by stage english instructions and the full manual in English.
Works great. Visible to all my network laptops and PC's. Photocopies (Colour ans B&W) even when not connected to the network. Not the smallest printer around, but solidly built and looks great. Recommended.

Very poor

I have had to scrap the printer after only a few months use. It has broken down several times and the black inkjet cartridge only lasts for a few tens of pages. However it was relatively easy to connect to my network.

Good all-rounder and excellent value for money

If you're someone who needs to print a mixture of documents and photographs then this printer is a really good choice. Text and document graphics are very crisp on plain copier paper. I would say text is as near laser quality as you're going to see from an inkjet. Epson Durabrite printers are sensitive to the media that you're printing on. Photographs printed on Epson Heavy Matte paper are outstanding. Colour rendering is very good and detailing is incredible. My wife runs a Lexmark; the Epson really delivers on photographic detail that the Lexmark loses. I'm told this is down to Lexmark's thermal inkjet vs. Epson's micro piezo print head. On the other hand, the Epson struggles to deliver really well saturated colour on glossy papers. Again, this is because of Epson's printing system and inks. The ink doesn't adhere to the glossy surface very well.

I can't knock the printer on operating cost. The cartridges supplied with the printer run out very quickly but a multipack replacement set is reasonably priced (approx £25) and lasts very well. I've lost count of the number of 10x8 photos printed from the current set. The ink-low warning kicks in pretty early but it's only a warning and can be ignored until a cartridge shows as empty, so don't be in a hurry to replace the cartridge as soon as you get the warning (though it's a good time to buy some spares).

If like me you like matte (ie non-reflective) photographs rather than glossies then this is a five star printer; if you want glossies, then it only rates a two or three; on balance, I give it four stars for excellent document printing; excellent matte photographs and reasonable operating costs.

A fairly quiet running machine..very clear print.Very easy to set up took me less than 15 minutes.Ideal for kids to print out any school or homework.

can't do my job without it

I work in a medical facility. several of my colleagues just hand me a memory card, and ask for prints and/or saved onto the computer. i have this linked direct to my computer so i can do both jobs at once. sometimes i have to take it to rural clinics, this is so easy, just unplug and lift by the handle and off we go. it gives excellent quality prints even though my pictures can be quite gruesome. I have been using this for abour 18 months now and if it goes wrong i'm straight to the shops to buy another

Way too expensive to run....

Whilst the finish, build-quality and software of the Epson multi-function machines is excellent - the actual cost of consumables - ink-cartridges - is staggering - for the average to low user of this machine the amount of ink wasted in priming the cartidges for use is amazing - having printed around 30-40 A4 pages plus perhaps half-a-dozen small photos I have had to replace the whole set of inks three times - the cost has been more than the machine itself. Despite numerous calls to Epson to ensure I wasn't doing anything wrong - they assured me this was the way the machine works - way, way too expensive in inks for the average users.
