Good but not perfect
This printer is easy to instal and use and I'm told it's economic. It's slow to warm up and it's noisy when operating, but I can live with that for the price!3
Review for Samsung CLP-315 Colour Laser Printer:
It takes forever to print anything in colour, chews through toner cartridges in no time at all and stops and asks for replacement parts with no warning.
I also wouldn't try using it with cheaper brands of paper - it seems unable to feed them.

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRINTER
Like many of the other reviewers I have experienced a loud horn like sound and toner not fixed to the page. This has happened three times now and it seems to cost a new set of toner cartridges each time!! HP Support have said to me that they don't support the printer any longer its out of warranty. This is not a warranty fault this machine is not really fit for purpose.5

Review for Brother Mono Laser Printer:
Good value printer
This is a simple, mono laser printer that has one great asset: network connectivity. It may not be wireless but it is great value with low running costs - low enough to actually purchase toner & drum rather than a whole new printer when the time comes!7
Review for HP Color LaserJet CP1215 Colour Laser Printer:
1. In an unbelievable move, HP has not provided software and drivers for this printer for us Mac owners. This in itself is a daft move as I have yet (personally) to come across a piece of hardware that I cannot use with my MAC, including previous models of HP printers which have worked just fine.
2. What is worse, in my opinion, is HP's utter failure to clearly advertise this fact unambiguously on the product packaging. It should carry a warning on it in clear bold lettering: WARNING: NOT COMPATIBLE WITH APPLE MACS. It's only if you get into the technical details when you see that the operating system required is Windows XX etc. But even this is ambiguous as it doesn't clearly and specifically rule out MACS. Oddly, you can download Linux drivers, and this is not one of the OS's specifically mentioned in the technical specs anyway.
3. To me this is not merely an oversight, but bordering on being blatantly dishonest as well. And of course, if you complain to HP, you hear nothing back from them. I will personally not be purchasing another HP printer product in the future as a result of this fiasco and the fact that they have allowed this situation to run for over a year without addressing it - They have hundreds of products for which they churn out drivers for. How hard can it be to crank one out for a popular little printer like this?
4. They have broken the tacit trust we have in big companies like this to give us products that work or clearly warn us if they will not work for us.
It would be interesting to find out how many other MAC owners have been CONNED (because when important compatability information is deliberately hidden away, that is exactly what it is, a CON) into buying one of these printers due to HP being"economical with the facts"
All of that said, the product itself is fine when connected to a Windows based PC, delivering excellent quality prints in both colour and greyscale. If you have a Windows PC this is an excellent printer and I would not hesitate to buy it under these circumstances - in fact, I would go so far as to give it 5/5 for print quality and value if you are a budget conscious PC owner looking for a great little high quality laser printer and you don't need to print in great volumes, at high speed or with a duplexing capability.

WARNING: A GREAT PRINTER NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MACS!!!!!!!!
Having used this printer with a Windows PC, I would give it a 5 star rating. As a MAC owner, I give this 1 star. If it were possible to give zero stars I would have chosen this option. My reasons are as follows:1. In an unbelievable move, HP has not provided software and drivers for this printer for us Mac owners. This in itself is a daft move as I have yet (personally) to come across a piece of hardware that I cannot use with my MAC, including previous models of HP printers which have worked just fine.

Review for HP LaserJet P2055dn Network Laser Printer:
I've only configured this for uses with Macs so I can't comment on PC configuration. On Mac OS 10.5 and lower you need to download the HP drivers and install them yourself (a rather large download, but the installation was seamless). On 10.6 the drivers are already available in the default installation. I have mine connected to a BT HomeHub (the black, version 2 one) and found that 10.5 had no trouble finding the printer from day to day, but that 10.6 did if it was configured using Bonjour/ZeroConf. Changing the printer configuration in 10.6 so that it was manually added by IP Address fixed this problem. I'm *guessing* that the HomeHub is actually the issue here, but since I got it all working I'm not particularly inclined to investigate further at this time.

Review for HP LaserJet P2055dn Network Laser Printer:
Noisy, but a good performer
I second the reviews that note that this is a bit of a noisy printer (even in 'quiet mode'); however, there are no other drawbacks that I've encountered, so this seems like a fair bargain for a fast, network-capable, duplexing laser printer. Quality of output is excellent and seems quite fast to me -- it seems to be coping rather well with my frequent reprints of dissertation chapters as I near completion. When not printing, the printer is largely silent, so the noise would only be an issue if you used this in a confined, SoHo environment with frequent print jobs... though, honestly, if you were doing that many prints then you'd probably want to spend a bit more than £200 on a printer.I've only configured this for uses with Macs so I can't comment on PC configuration. On Mac OS 10.5 and lower you need to download the HP drivers and install them yourself (a rather large download, but the installation was seamless). Review for Brother HL3040CN Compact High Speed Network Colour LED Printer:
The image is transferred to the drum using LED technology.
As this was just for home use on a small network there was no need for a heavy duty printer or extra memory installed.
I was not expecting such good output of colour pictures as I thought that this was the area where inkjet technology was superior but the results on ordinary 90gsm paper is very good indeed.
It can be used as a network printer or directly connected to a PC using a USB2 connection.
It is quiet in operation or in standby mode.
The default is draft mode which can be changed to a high resolution. No memory problems were encountered when producing prints on this setting although some reviews recommended a memory upgrade if using this setting for batch printing.
Installation and setup were easy with a seperate CD supplied for Windows 7 installation.
The toner replacement costs are always a problem with this type of printer and is comparable to many others reviewed.
Very pleased with it so far and the third Brother printer I have bought.
One year on site repair is included in the price.

Much better than I expected from a colour laser printer

Epson? No Thanks.
If you buy one of these you need your brains tested. Horrendously expensive on inks that last for approximately 10 minutes before it needs another new set of cartridges. The best advice here is stay completely away from anything Epson, for the sake of your own sanity and your pocket. Also, it doesn't do envelopes so it's only good for photos and not much else. If you leave it for more than a couple of weeks the inks will dry out and need replacing at typical Epson horrendous cost, and when you replace the cartridges the print heads will need cleaning and use up most of your new cartridges. All in all - Stay well clear of anything Epson because it's just trouble - trouble - trouble.12
Review for Epson AcuLaser C1100N - Printer:
Chose the Epson based on low price, speed and lower consumables cost. So far the speed is very good once it warms up but is slower off the mark than the HP if you are printing single pages. Can't comment on the consumables but they should be cheaper based on Amazon prices and pages per toner cart. Had major problems with installing the toner carts, it's not clear from the instructions and I struggled - even had yellow toner dropping inside the machine at one point! Gave up thinking I was damaging the printer and rang Epson support who were excellent, I was not being firm enough in pushing in the cartridge. They talked me through the sequence and all went well. All in all I would recomend this printer and was very pleased with the Epson support service.

Have a brother mfc which drives me mad because of the noise though is otherwise a good machine. The samsung is a joy to work with - compact and produces great quality print, fast and duplex. Best of all it is quiet with only a slight whine when it is printing and then it immediately becomes silent.15

A great value printer for home or small businesses
This is the second of these we've bought - it's almost as cheap to replace the printer as it is to replace the photoconductor cell which is what we've done. We've run this type of printer for about 5 years now and it's great18
Review for Brother HL-5240L Mono Laser Printer 16MB 1200 x 120dpi 24ppm - 250 Sheets:
The printer makes a bit of fan noise while printing but then goes almost silent and after a little while shuts itself into standby until required again.
Seems solid enough, I was consdiering a Samsung printer which had a few bells and whistles but upon investigating toner prices this Brother appears to have refilled/compatible toner cartridges much more readily available and even the brother orginal toner - £76 for a high yield 7,000 toner seems fairly reasonable.
I haven't had the printer long but on 1st impressions I have no regrets. Oh, and the drivers installed no problem on both a Windows XP and a Windows 7 laptop.

Sturdy, fast, workhorse laser printer
Just received this printer and am very pleased. Nothing fancy just does what it says on the tin very well. Fast prints with very good print quality and brother are offering either £20 cashback or free 3 year warranty until June 2010.The printer makes a bit of fan noise while printing but then goes almost silent and after a little while shuts itself into standby until required again.

Review for Samsung CLP-310 - Printer - colour - laser - Letter, Legal, A4 - up to 16 ppm (mono) / up to 4 ppm (colour) - capacity: 150 sheets - USB:
It plugged in and worked straight away. I am using Mac OS X so I was a bit unsure as to how well it would work, but thus far, faultless.
The standard quality setting (not best) produces the best results I have ever seen on standard plain paper, and the printing speed blew me away. Unlike these inkjets that say they are fast but feel like they take an age, this printer thinks for 20 seconds on being woken up and then prints a page in about 3-4 seconds.
I cant wait to see what the best setting produces on glossy paper.
Also if you are printing posters or flyers, the laser printed pages don't smudge in the rain as inkjet ink does.
When I buy a printer I like to feel I am getting a workhorse that will last the distance, will not complain about not having ink every week, and is not built to be thrown away.
This printer looks and feels solid, and the fact that the toner will last 10x as long as an equivalently priced injet printer means that I don't feel like I am being ripped off every time I hit the print button.
If you want to know more, the manual is downloadable from the samsung site, its worth a look before you purchase. And for your information it doesn't print borderless, a point which is not made very obvious in the blurb.
enjoy

I was looking for a decent printer. I tried an HP PhotoSmart C8180 and didn't think much of it, but the CLP-315 printer is great. It plugged in and worked straight away. I am using Mac OS X so I was a bit unsure as to how well it would work, but thus far, faultless.
