Review for Lexmark Duplex Colour Laser Printer Network Ready, 22PPM Mono, 21PPM Colour, 11 Sec TTFP:
This printer is large and very heavy, some of the bulk is due to the single pass method of printing but you do need a fair bit of space.
It has built in duplexing and an extra fold out tray for card and evelopes etc.
Pros.
The built in networking is a huge bonus and makes it ideal for a workgroup printer.
Print quality in black or colour is superb with near photograhic quality on plain paper.
In almost a year I have had no paper jams.
Build quality is fairly solid
Cons.
Not a very easy to understand driver.
Toner cartridges are only half full, a replacement set will set you back £320 BUT you can refill the cartridges using third party toner and chips which cuts the cost of toner by two thirds.
I have done this myself and the refills are excellent and relatively easy to do.
If you opt for the full energy saving mode it can take a couple of minutes to start printing.
Summation
A great printer that prints in black or colour at the same speed. Highly recommended. Great buy and cheap to run if you use refills.

Roller marks on paper
This was fine for a while and the toner cartridge lasted for ages. Am on my 2nd cartridge replacement now (bought online for c.£37 so not particularly cheap). Printer is showing its age now - leaves spots along one edge despite cleaning etc and also the rollers furrow the paper. Overall, the quality is not now acceptable for work / printing letters. Poor marks for durability. Wouldn't buy another.71

Review for Brother MFC7820N Laser Multifunction Centre - Laser Printer, Laser Fax and Colour Scanner:
Good value Home Office all in one unit
I have 2 of these for 6-9 months. Printer & fax work really well. scanning is slow in HiRes but OK when you drop it to mono and use lo-but adequate-res. With latest software & patches(from brother.co.uk) it does scan multi pages to one LAN PDF file and also can email multi pages as a single pdf attachment. You can hand feed envelopes for printing and the normal printer paper feed is good. The paper feeder for the copier/scanner/fax is less reliable but you tend to stand over it then anyway. can we get the same thing in all an colour version Brother?72

Big, noisy, fiddly to set up, but great results
While the printer takes up a much bigger footprint than the inkjet it replaced, and yes it did take longer to setup than I expected, and yes it is noisier than the inkjet. However, the print quality is very, very good and the print speed is fast enough for my business. I cannot comment on costs as I haven't had the printer very long, but I am very happy with the results so far. Purchased from Pixmania so the usual delay in delivery, cannot understand why everyone cannot be as fast as Amazon73

Review for HP Colour Laserjet 1600 Printer:
It's relatively quick for colour, quiet, and the prints are superb quality. Text and graphics are excellent, photographs not quite so good.
But like everything in life, it's not perfect:
For a so called 'compact' printer, its bulky, it auto self calibrates quite regularly - but you can change calibration settings in the driver setup, and the on/off switch is at the back - not the end of the world, but annoying.
The big fault - toner cartridges are ridiculously expensive. A complete set of 4 replacements cost more than the printer new. HP (like other manufacturers) trying to get their money from consumables rather than the printer. It cheaper to throw the printer away and buy another when the cartridges run out. (Although replacement cartridges are full and claim to last 2000 pages). But due to the low initial purchase cost, this printer is great for low volumes. For high print volumes consider something that's cheaper on consumables.
Note: If you are using Vista, you will need the latest version firmware, or the HP 'Toolbox' software will not work.

Review for HP Colour Laserjet 1600 Printer:
Great printer - excellent for low volumes
I got this printer because I was fed up with frequent (and hence expensive) ink cartridge replacements for my Epson inkjet, that also gummed up if they weren't used for a week. All can say is this printer is excellent for the money, wish I'd bought one sooner. HP still make the best lasers. You can now get this machine for £100 if you shop around. It's relatively quick for colour, quiet, and the prints are superb quality. Text and graphics are excellent, photographs not quite so good.

Terribly inflexible
Works well if and only if you want to print on the small range of paper sizes that Brother make available. Your options are 29mm high or 62mm high (with one exception, see later). If you are trying to use Royal Mail SmartStamp, avoid this machine like the plague. SmartStamp needs a minimum height of 38mm. 62mm is far too wide for a stamp. There are 38mm x 90mm stickers which aren't large enough to print any logos or return addresses. If there was a 38mm continuous tape available (like there are for 29mm and 62mm) it would be ideal, but without that simple thing, this machine is useless to me80

Piece of Junk
Don't buy this, its a piece of junk. No driver for Vista (or if there are, they are only for the printer part, not the scanner). The multiple document feeder doesn't work and pulls more than one page at a time. If you single sheet feed a document through instead, you get to one of the last pages and the software crashes and tells you that the printer probably isn't connected.
Don't buy it.
