Nice clear VGA screen but annoying hiss

I bought this to replace my dead iPAQ 2210 and I was impressed with its very clear display very good for reading pdfs watching DVDs, however there is a loud background hiss which is very annoying when listening to something quiet. Unfortunately Im not the only one to spot this, this is a common problem with this device and hp have provided no resolution, so I had to return mine as faulty. But thinking about buying this again when the problem is sorted I dont think I could be bothered for over £200 for what I paid for it you could spend the same and get twice the functions e.g. MWg Atom V. The only positive it has is its screen size, but who cares when Laptops are getting so cheap now, to me this device is BORING and nothing new from my 2210 which is 4 years old. I wouldnt pay more than £130 for this paper weight

Do not buy Belkin!!!!!!!!

My advice for people looking to use a wireless network, do not buy Belkin, i've read many reviews on the adapters in particular and i couldn't agree more with what most have said. I am on my second wireless adapter now after the first one died recently, this second one is still useless to a point where i've regretted wasting my money on it, i should've gone for another brand, something that won't crash my pc everytime i try and look at something online or everytime i download some music or look at Google Earth. Even after trying the latest drivers for the damn thing or reinstalling the software it still crashes my pc, luckily i can reconnect after my pc boots up and hence i'm managing to type this review now.
Basically do not buy this useless piece of junk if you want a stress free wireless internet connection, go for something a little more expensive that is easier to set up and does not crash your pc, enough said i think.

Probably the best iPaq yet ...

I have now had this device for a couple of weeks. I have previously owned several Pocket PCs, including a few earlier versions of the iPaq. Of the ones I have tried, this is almost certainly the best. Having WiFi, Bluetooth, SDHC support (previous versions didn't support the new higher capacity cards that this one does - I have an 8Gb SD card in mine), a standard USB connection (previous iPaqs I owned use a proprietary USB connector) a relatively fast processor, the latest version of Windows Mobile (including useful new features such as SD card data encryption) all whilst retaining a relatively small form factor is a strong combination. Whilst many will opt for a Pocket PC phone (as my last Windows Mobile device was), having a seperate PDA from your phone has advantages for some e.g. if you are obliged to use a particular mobile phone for work (as I am) then you don't need phone features on your PDA. With this device I can keep all of my personal contacts seperate from the business contacts on my phone and use bluetooth to get my phone (a Blackberry Pearl) to dial any number I select on my iPaq Classic. Add in a high capacity SD card and this device doubles up as a reasonably competent media player. It has a standard headphone socket (no headphones supplied) or you can use the built in speaker. Web browsing over wi-fi works as well as any device I have seen of this size. It also comes with a rather nice slip case. Overall, not a stunning leap forward compared to previous iPaqs but its hard to find fault with it.

Lights, TV, PC and.... Action!

Simple, fit and forget. Save £££

If only everything in life was so simple. Controls my Lighting/DVD/AMp on my TV and another on my PC. PC accessories include UPS/USB Hub, Dual LCD Screens, Surround amp and Printers. Now I know that when I have finished and shut down the PC, all the rest are OFF and saving the powerdrain too.

Switch on TV with remote or PC as normal, couple of sec's later all accessories awake too.

Clip broke within a week

Looks like a quality item and I was impressed until i just walked past a table which was exactlty the same height as the Blacberry clipped to my belt. The clip broke with fairly minor amount of impact and couldnt be mended. Very poor consideing the quality of the leather is good. So where are we supposed to get decent belt clip pouches if not from the original manufacturer?

Great little case

After buying HP iPAQ 214 (my very first PDA) and being very disappointed with the case provided (it doesn't open out so impossible to use iPAQ 214 in the case - useless!!!!) I decided to plump for this one.

Product description:

* Pdair Black Leather Flip Case for HP iPaq 214 - yes it fits the product perfectly with holes in all the right places!
* Made from fine soft quality leather - soft leather with something inside the leather casing to keep it rigid.
* Includes removable belt clip - this is made from plastic (colour: black) which screws onto the product. One may want to be a bit cautious with this - if one is too enthusiastic, it may break!!! However, having said that, it is not thin flimsy plastic either.
* Contains 2 x credit card slot and 2 x memory card slots - I have tested the SDHC card in the holder slots and they fit snugly! Credit card holder not used yet.
* Opens and closes with magnetic clasp , for ease of use - this works well, no problems.

I ordered the item on Sunday and got it on Tuesday morning, now that's what I call customer service. I would definitely use this company again. The paperwork with the order indicates it is a small family company and I for one would rather give my cash to them rather than to HP who gave me a rubbish case in the first place.

I would definitely recommend this product to others based on my first impressions (only got the product today!!).

Great Product

I love this product. Everybody has been asking me where I got it. There is a few minor issues with connectivity problems such as switching back and forth from GPRS to WI-FI and the battery life isn't very good at all. You can buy an extended battery which I am hoping to do. Overall it is a great product. For any business person I would recommend this..

nice idea - bit tinny

Easy to set up, good sound quality, but the button for making/receiving calls doesn't really stand out to the touch, making it a little difficult to find when you are driving along. I have only had it a few weeks now and have had a few problems with the button sticking, so it keeps ringing my last call or locks altogether. I am going to send it back and give it a second chance as a one off problem, but certainly have my doubts as to the build quality.

This product is the best looking keyboard around, it also feels nice to use, until it stops working.

Bluetooth is not the most reliable technology even at the best of times. Anyone with a Bluetooth mobile phone probably agrees.

The keyboard and mouse periodically froze from time to time, you can be typing and then realise that whilst typing away, nothing has happened, or moving the mouse and the page freezes, then you realize its the mouse not working, 30 secs later the device re-connects.

If you actually need to use your keyboard reliably and for business, avoid this product, it will have you screaming and hitting it when you're in a rush to do something and it freezes. I have gone back to using my old Logitech wireless keyboard (not bluetooth) and although its not as nice to look at or touch, IT WORKS.

Needs Work!

This phone is very good in some aspects but then lets itself down badly in others. As with all Windows driven items it benefits from being re-started occasionally - something most people don't do with their phone.
Choosing it for the right reasons seems to be critical if this phone is to please you. I wanted a quad band phone that would synchronise well with my email server and act as a temporary laptop when I am abroad to save me carrying all that weight. To that extent it would strike five stars, though it it not yet synchronising my calendar dates effectively. Difficulty is that I'm not sure if it is the phone or my email server host set up - the latter is blaming the former though I am less confident!
The file management system on the handset seems almost impossible to work properly - only plugging it into a pc allows you to move files - though me doing that with some Tom Tom files recently stopped it working as it blocked paths!
The camera is of little real value so don't chose it for that reason. The video quality is ok but not great so again look elsewhere if that's your primary buying criteria.
Of the things I really wanted the music player is most frustrating - getting music on the system is difficult and the file management is once again poor meaning that getting albums onto the phone in the right order has eluded me until now. That's a real shame because that should be extremely easy by modern standards.
One aspect of how the phone behaves is relating to the powersave on the screen. It cuts in very quickly (within a minute) in whatever programme you are running even though I've set it to 5 minutes. This means sometimes having to unlock the phone mid-call - damned annoying to be honest. The other issue relates to the fact that the screen remains dark until you have unlocked it. This means that in anything other than darkness you cannot see the keys to use the stylus correctly and must 'know' the phone to achieve a successful unlock. I would have wanted a full power screen as soon as you press any relevant button to help with that unlocking process.
I would have thought HTC could have solved these things very easily with updates but their website and support are lacking. They have every opportunity, in concept, to keep me as a client for a very long time but may lose me if they don't address these problems.
All in all a great concept but as someone else said - the execution is flawed.
