Review for New Apple iPod Touch 8GB:
Nearly a five star
The applications on this product are fantastic. The touch screen is great and has obviously been created after 'real use' trials of the product . A protective cover is a must but make sure you buy one where the 'home' button is accessible. After even one day of use you will find the touch indispensable with its contacts, mail (via wifi), notes, weather, utube, calender, appointments and loads of free applications to download. If you like the ipod nano you will love this - it's a completely new generation and it is so straightforward to use.

The only problem I had was moving my ipod nano stuff to the touch. I called the customer support and sadly found all 4 people I spoke to rather unhelpful and basically rude. The product more than makes up for it.

Review for New Apple iPod Touch 16GB:
Great gadget, but old Ipod accessories not compatible
I bought the 16GB Ipod Touch to replace my old style 4GB Nano. The Ipod Touch is a beautiful gadget, and is very nice to use. It is a shame that my old Ipod accessories, such as my radio and my charger, do not work with the Ipod Touch. Despite having the same dock fitting, these accessories aren't compatible and I will be forced to pay out to replace these too - expensive and not very"green". Apart from this, the Ipod Touch is great and you can have hours of fun on the wifi - browsing online, checking whats on at the cinema, reading the newspaper, checking the sports scores etc. Music and video play very well and the"cover flow" feature for browsing through your albums is fab.

Review for Action Replay for Nintendo DS/ NDS Lite:
Action Replay Max Ds/Ds Lite
I personally think this is a good product made for the ds and ds lite. Although it sometimes freezes the game, action replay can be used straight out of the box without any difficulties. The process of installation is easy and quite quick.

It is fully updatable via usb meaning you don't have to buy newer versions when released.

Review for Creative Zen V+ 2GB MP3 Player with Video Playback & FM Radio:
The Best Player In The World For So Many Reason!
I bought this player a year ago. It has to be the most brilliant player on the market. My player has been through a 40 degrees wash when i left it in my pocket. I emailed Creative and they gave me a patch to load onto it that made it work again. It works perfectly! The headphones it comes with aren't the best but they aren't bad! It plays video, has a radio and everything. Not good for watchin movies on but hey! I love it. If you want a big screened player with what this player has and more get a 4GB or 2GB Veho Mii for only £40!!! It is another brilliant player at a low price!

Review for Archos 605 WiFi 160GB Portable Media Player 4.3" Touch Screen:
No support for this product
I recently bought this product after reading reviews and knowing full well that you need to purchase the web browser to utilise the product properly. Unfortuantly you can only purchase this once your product is registered. I have tried this many times over the last couple of weeks with no luck.Contacted Archos and had no response from hem after serveral tries.

trying to get a support from Archos is like getting blood from a stone. on the basis alone i would opt for an Ipod. The Archos is a great product but without any support it is nothing more than a simple MP3 player.

i am hoping this review may get their attention as it has really angered me how rubbish they really are.

Review for Archos 705 WiFi 160GB Portable Media Player 7" Touch Screen:
Ok but for the fatal flaw
I bought the 160gb version that was supposed to have manual and reg instructions on the drive. not there no help on archos site. after a week of trying eventually found how to purchase plug in for web browser and set up archos account. gradually learnt how to use it. the touch screen is NOT finger friendly, it's slow but audio sound is great through h/p and even a £3 lead into my amp. Began to fall in love with the ability to watch video streamed from youtube n google video as I walked around the house etc and went to bed each night streaming films. however they always cut out after ten minutes thought i was being dumb. again no help on site then found out by trial and error it needed to be plugged in to ac adaptor not only when synching with wmp11 but to watch streamed vids longer than approx 10min. If you like your audio don't rip WMplayer in lossless or anything else as archos forces a downgrade to standard wma which takes forever. corrupt files are common too.

Here's the crunch, never got as far as setting up my bundled dvr station or other extras as on day 12 FATAL ERROR recovery error 102 none of the restore options worked archos site never heard of that error n couldn't help. the device felt weighty and of good build quality so i thought i must have been unlucky and got a duff hard drive. Not so!! the flash drives suffer the same problem and there are thousands of people on the forums with the same problem with no resolution but to RMA. I've decided grudgingly to wait for a larger capacity iTouch. The bricked archos remains by the door a month later waiting to be collected, and needless to say i ain't got my money back yet. It was great while it lasted but i'd never by another.

Creative Zen V+ 8GB - MP3 Player - With Video Playback & FM Radio

New Price: £76.81

Review for Creative Zen V+ 8GB - MP3 Player - With Video Playback & FM Radio:
An excellent iPod Alternative
I bought this player because as a previous iPod owner I had no intention or purchasing another. In the main this is an excellent product, it is small, light, power efficient and easy to manage and transfer music to. It isn't perfect by any means - the display isn't as refined as the iPod Nano's and the navigation is a little clunkier. But for all that I'm extremely happy with it - the key emphasis to me is that it has superior sound quality to the iPods which I think is the fundamental point of any player; it sounds better and is cheaper than the Nano so it was an easy win.

Roberts WM201 Wi-Fi Internet Radio and Media Player

New Price: £189.99

Review for Roberts WM201 Wi-Fi Internet Radio and Media Player:
Flawed but fascinating - iPlayer permitting
This is a simple-looking device that actually needs be assessed from several different angles. It's not perfect, but what it makes possible is enough to excuse its shortcomings.

For me, the killer feature of the WM-201 - and what made me choose it over a similarly-priced DAB radio - is its ability to stream programmes from the BBC Listen Again site. There's loads of good stuff on Radio 4 and BBC 7, much of which I miss while I'm out at work. This allows me to listen while I'm cooking Sunday lunch - and means there's always an alternative to Quote Unquote, which has to be a good thing.
It can also receive just about anything you can get over DAB, and a whole lot more - my favourites are the genre-specific music stations from the US, many of which use higher-quality streams than the BBC and sound fantastic. (Finding these through the built-in regional lists, though, is a needle-in-haystack job; it's well worth getting to know the on-line Reciva site, on which you can build a personal set of pre-sets to download to the WM-201.)

Which brings me on to sound quality. The WM-201 can occasionally sound a little `boxy' - but then it is a box, not a ten-grand separates system, and it's wedged into a rather tight corner of my kitchen. It's generally perfectly pleasant, though - and a minor adjustment of the bass is usually enough to optimize the sound for a particular genre or recording. It also copes well with input from an iPod on a dock.

Time I considered those shortcomings. The first one is not specific to the WM-201 but applies to Internet radio in general - it's only as good as the feed it gets from your Internet connection. Until recently, this was very good, but the advent of the BBC iPlayer (if we believe what we read) has increased the load on the contended local connections to the ISPs' networks. The WM-201 copes with this in two ways: reducing the bit rate, with progressive degradation of sound quality; and stopping altogether until it has refilled its buffer. Both of these are annoying with speech radio, and make music programmes unlistenable - to the extent that, if I just want to listen to the Six O'Clock News on Radio 4, I use the old Sony FM portable that the WM-201 was intended to replace. An integrated FM tuner would be a useful feature if Roberts ever makes a WM-202!
The second gripe concerns the user interface. The WM-201 looks very sleek with its single control knob. The knob feels good too - nicely weighted and with a subtle click action between selections. But as a device to control such a sophisticated machine, it's not really enough - I wouldn't mind sacrificing a little sleekness for separate input selectors and a dedicated volume control. You get some of this on the remote, but that has horrible, clacky membrane bubbles for buttons and really isn't up to the standard of the rest of the kit.

These gripes seem a bit churlish, though, considering what the WM-201 can do - a bit like wishing for massage seats in an Apollo spacecraft. Much of what's good - and bad - about it is also true of other Wi-Fi radios like the Tangent Quattro. I've not tried the others, but the Roberts scores well on looks, quality and sound, and I'm very pleased with my choice.

Review for Archos 605 WiFi 30GB Portable Media Player 4.3" Touch Screen:
Save your time and money.
I bought this item from Argos for £150. I charged it up using the supplied usb cable, which took just about 1 full day, then wished I hadn't bothered.

Everytime I turned it on it would work for a few minutes then for no reason whatsoever it would shut itself down.

The wifi element of it is hit and miss. Sometimes it would connect to my network then it wouldn't. It's very erratic to say the least.

Finally got fed up with it, took it back and bought an Ipod classic 80gb. Best decision I ever made.

Save your time and money and avoid this at all costs.

I wanted to give it 0 stars but there is no option for that.

Review for Creative ZEN Vision:M 30GB MP3 / Multi-Media Player - Black&&:
Don,t buy from Creative !!!!!!!!!!!
Like some kind of crazy fool I thought I,d buy 2 zen vision players (1 for whole albums, 1 for favourite tracks ) .They where so impressive at first I bought a z500 playdock too . However within 14 months both where what can best be described as useless. As useless as trying to get them fixed via the company and their equally abject website. The best fun you,ll have with these is when you hurl them at a wall . (honest !!!! ).

Thinks:Now what are people saying about Ipods .??

Archos 404 - 30GB Slim Portable Multimedia Player

New Price: £89.99

Review for Archos 404 - 30GB Slim Portable Multimedia Player:
IS IT AS GOOD AS THE HYPE?
Well, is it? I confess to being seduced by the hype on a certain shopping channel, so I bought one from Amazon (cheaper). This was for my wife, as I had an equivalent Vivitar player for myself. Using the Vivitar as a benchmark, I compared the two players. Here goes..........
SOUND QUALITY. Better than the Vivitar, but why is the volume control menu driven? Frustrating !
FILMS. The screen resolution wins hands down. No contest
DOWNLOADING PICTURES. Frustrating. No slots for memory cards, so all photos have to be downloaded from the camera. Try reading how to do this from the terrible PDF manual & you feel like topping yourself!
BATTERY LIFE. With the Vivitar, I have to keep the charger plugged in while watching a film, but the charger is noisy & affects the screen. The Archos is really good on battery life by comparison.
USER FRIENDLINESS. Bye-bye Archos. Needs a load of extras, like docking stations (etc) which aren't supplied & are damned expensive! The Vivitar just needs one adaptor, which was supplied.
The next gripe is that you can't just download MPEG4 files (films). Oh, no, you have to purchase some stupid software from Archos. So none of my films will transfer without it. So frustrating, yet again.

FINAL ANALYSIS. This is good! My trusty Vivitar failed to survive a drop onto a hard floor a few weeks ago & is now defunct. So what have I purchased to replace it? You guessed it, another 404!. Why? Well, I have all the adaptors & docking stations, so no more expense there. The sound & video quality swung it for me though, along with the battery life. I hope this review helps you make an informed choice. Just be aware of those hidden extras & awkward menus!!

Creative Zen V+ 4GB

New Price: £39.99

Review for Creative Zen V+ 4GB:
A nice little Mp3 player. If it worked.
The first one I had of these lasted a month, if that. Then the screen went and was only readable in a very dark room. Then it just wouldn't turn on (or the screen went completely, but I couldn't even get it to play music like it was previously).

So it was replaced with the same thing and I had the identical problem repeat itself within a week. Usless. Oh and those silicone cases are terrible and rip easily.

Not worth the hassle.

SanDisk Sansa e260 - 4Gb MP3 & Video Player

New Price: £44.98

Review for SanDisk Sansa e260 - 4Gb MP3 & Video Player:
Buy it now!
By far the best player I've used but it's not perfect!

Unlimited storage! Ok so NOT unlimited but if you run out of space just pop a microSD card in the slot. Since 4Gb cards are about 7 quid? That means ALOT of storage.

Easy to use user interface, even my girlfriend can use it ;)

Good video playback but not perfect. A decent size screen for watching re-runs of south park on the way to uni :) But it breaks up the vids into 15 min chunks, the player automatically connects them all together but there is a noticeable pause between chunks.

Customisable EQ; I'm not sure if the Ipod has this function. But its something I've never seen before on any player I've had, you usually get the presets: rock, pop etc but depending on how good your headphones are some presets don't sound right, you might want just abit more treble or bass on your rock preset to compensate for poor headphone response. No problem, you can do that!

Very good battery life, I think I read 20 hours vs 14 for the nano. Though to be honest I'm abit dubious about that. The longest I've used mine for was 4 hours continuous, and the meter was about a quarter empty. BUT if the battery goes on your sansa, just buy a replacement kit remove 4 screws and fix it yourself, none of this sending to apple, which YOU have to pay postage for, and then pay for the replacement parts and shipping back to you.

Easy to use software, just drag and drop your mp3's, wma's or whatever like you would with a pen drive. No awful itunes here! Videos aren't as easy however, with vids and pics you need to use the software but that's easy enough; click"add media" navigate to the stuff you want to add then click"convert" job done.

As much as I like the sansa it's not perfect. The start up time is far too long. The headphones that come with are ok for freebies but that's not saying much. The disabled radio, ok that's the EU's fault not SanDisk's and I'm sure with a naughty update hack you could get it working, since the hardware is still in the unit. The photos are crap, I tried putting my timetable on there but there's no zoom function which makes it useless for me at least.

All in all, for the price you can't go wrong. I would have preferred a zoom function in place of the voice recorder, and the 15min video thing seems abit pointless but you can't have everything.

Logitech Harmony 785 Universal Remote Control

New Price: £78.00

Review for Logitech Harmony 785 Universal Remote Control:
Might be OK if it worked
First one wouldn't power off so batteries lasted 3 hours on a charge.
Second one wouldn't update configuration - a fairly fundamental problem.
Gave up and got a refund - no problem.

The programming is extremely long winded. The downloaded programmes bore very little resemblance to the remotes they were supposed to emulate. I suspect it would never have replaced all remote controls. Therefore yet another table top ornament.
