Easy Printing

I purchased this printer in a bundle with the r607 camera and i have to say the printer is excellent it is very easy to use for those who are not teqnicallly minded it really is as simple as puting the card in and printing . I also have to say that as a pair the camera is great with the printer

great portable printer . you just need the battery. with mine i got a bluetooth adp which is good for printing wirelessly. quality is great and if you look around you can get ink cartridges for under £13

Fair for the price

The All-in-one printer does what it says.
The scanner is typical. However, it can be diificult to get it to do what you want sometimes. The on-board buttons provide only very basic facilities, and you have to use the accompanying program to do the rest. If you're like me you end up sitting thinking 'I KNOW I did this a few months ago but can I find it again?'
The printer has a lot of different print options BUT there is one MAJOR drawback...there is no tray to catch the printed paper. What this means is that when in fast print (which I use a lot as either the cartridges are tiny or this is a particularly thirsty beastie) the paper is FLUNG out landing about 18 inches from the printer (somewhat reminiscent of a Rover car we had a few years ago that popped the hot cigarette lighter out onto the floor of the car to smolder!). Inevitably pages manage to get flung between one another, and woe betide those documents that haven't had page numbers added. If you're going to be using the printer with a short area in front of it forget it - the paper will be flung onto the floor.
In slower higher-quality mode the problem is that the paper is gently dropped - so that the end of it is lying on top of paper in the in-tray. Accordingly your printed sheets frequently get sucked back in and you end up with an unwanted page printed upside down on the back (again woe betide if no page numbers).
My one final bug bear was the size of the software. Okay, my PC needs upgraded, having only a 8GB hard drive. Nonetheless, to discover this beast sucks up over half a GB for its software is obscene. I did finally figure out that about 1/4 GB was a HP program for 'monitoring your usage and reporting back to HP'. Funnily enough I removed this.

In summary:
PROS
- The printer has multiple print quality facilities, and is fairly fast
- The scanner does what it's supposed to

CONS
- The 1/4GB user monitoring software - REMOVABLE
- The projectile nature of fast print print (18" fling out)
- High quality print sucks the used paper back in

Overall, a reasonable printer for the price but with some pretty major drawbacks. The electronics are good, but the overall design leaves quite a lot to be desired.

A fairly quiet running machine..very clear print.Very easy to set up took me less than 15 minutes.Ideal for kids to print out any school or homework.

SPP 2020 for 6 * 4 photos

I bought this printer fairly recently as my wife does a lot of scrapbooking with these size photos. The quality is very good. More than happy with it and for £15.00 it is extremely good value. If you want to edit photos you either need to buy the SPP 2040 as a stand alone or use the SPP 2020 with a PC. Overall this printer offers reasonable value for money but you need to watch how many you print. Prices for the cartridges vary a lot so shop around.

Quality & Value

Had this approx 3 weeks now. Found it very easy to install, have printed off the manual for the printer from the CD (there are other manuals on it for the other software) but didn't really need it because it's so easy to use. It doesn't come with the usb lead but I found that the lexmark I was replacing (horrible machine) that cable works fine with the canon.

I wasn't sure I'd use the memory card facility but now I've tried it I've printed many photos this way without the PC using the index sheet which, once printed out, you just tick the boxes of the photos you want and scan it back in - easy. I've just started using sandisk extreme III SD cards with my canon camera and I was very surprised to find that this printer could cope with them. My pc card reader couldn't! I also enjoyed the pictbridge facility by attaching the camera to the printer for my photo-stitch prints again without pc intervention, to obtain some lovely results. The print quality is excellent but like every other printer is dependant on the quality of paper.

Have been printing on it every day including printing out the manual to A4 per page size (approx 200 sheets), I would say I've printed about thirty percent photos and seventy percent documentation and my black cartridge is showing 'low' and my colour cartridge is just over half full which seems reasonable to me. Bought the 'high yield' cartridges to try which seem to have nearly double the ink in them PG50 black, CL51 colour but can't comment on them yet except to say I've paid less for them both on Amazon than high street stores are selling one 'low yield' one for.

Have only done a couple of scans but had no problems and found it very easy to use. Cannot fault the printer in any way whatsoever and, seeing as I purchased mine from the canon outlet on ebay at a much cheaper price it was a risk worth taking. Having said that, now I'm using the machine I would happily pay out the price on Amazon without hesitation.

Better than amost anything in the high street

I think the title makes the point. I'm not going to argue that its cheaper getting digital prints done in the high street than with this printer (unless you take into account parking charges, fares etc) but what you get is a better product. I compared the output of this printer with the prints of a high street chain and the hi-ti printer produced prints with more colour and finer detail. Plus you can edit pictures yourself. Highly recommended.
