Review for Sony Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters (PS2):
One of the last good PS2 Games.
I've been a Ratchet and Clank fan since the first game was released, and have been waiting for this game to be released on PS2 for a while now.
The gameplay is classic Ratchet and Clank, with levels spread across the galaxy. Levels involve little mini games, such as a Giant Clank flying through space, where you ust shoot anything in his path, the classic grind rail sections, and the hover board racing.
As with the other games in this series there are plenty of weapons and gadgets to choose from too.
The only thing that disapointed me was that the game wasn't as magical as the first 3 on the PS2, even though the gameplay is the same. The fact is that the game was made for the PSP and lacks graphic power, durability and story. Ontop of this the game wasn't developed by Insomniac.
The game is still worth a buy as there are plenty of new ideas thrown in and it is one of the best games on the PS2 in recent years.

Doesn,t do what it says on the tin
Well, i bought this for ps2. It says clearly that there is up to 4 players, it is also advertised on TV as such but the ps2 version clearly does not offer this. (even though it says so on the box).It was a very importaint part of buying the game to have 2 player or more. So not too happy really.

The Sims 2: Pets (PS2)

New Price: £9.50

Review for The Sims 2: Pets (PS2):
Good Game. But Sims 2 is better.
This Game is very very good. However I don't really like the pets. This is because they are so hard to look after because there is just not enough time. All that happens to them is that they chew things, pee everywhere, make new annoying scoundrels and run away. Even though that is a major proplem I like the humans life. So instead of getting this game I wold advise that everyone should get just the normal 'Sims 2'.

Logic3 PlayStation 2 Controller Adapter for PS3 (PS2/PS3)

Our Price: £8.99

Review for Logic3 PlayStation 2 Controller Adapter for PS3 (PS2/PS3):
Guitar Hero, Not Totally
I bought this and followed the instructions as below and it only half works. The fret bits of the guitar all work and are activated but it treats it as a strum when you press them so you really don't use your right hand for strumming at all, which is a pretty important feature so unless there's something else that anyone knows of to fix that I wouldn't bother.

Though for not needing a Sixaxis controller it'd be spot on.

Final Fantasy XII (PS2)

Used Price: £4.15
New Price: £9.27

Review for Final Fantasy XII (PS2):
disappointing
good things: animation, art, cinematics
bad things: a bit childish I think. I prefer Oblivion or Fable because you can actually PARTICIPATE in the battle interactively as you fight, whereas in this game you just press buttons and wait for the computer/console to do the rest. Also, the navigation is really cluttered and takes a lots of steps to get where you want: skills, map etc. Another thing: I am used to Xbox360. With this game (or this console ?) I can't find a preference menu so that I can change the movements of the character going right or left...

Gran Turismo 4 (PS2)

Used Price: £8.84
New Price: £10.69

Review for Gran Turismo 4 (PS2):
Truly astounding, if you are dedicated.
In brief, this is a tremendous achievement but it can be very slow going.

In greater detail Gran Turismo 4 boasts hundreds of cars, tens of tracks including both real life tracks, purely fictional tracks and tracks set around the real streets of real cities which do not in real life exist for obvious practical reasons. The Gran Turismo mode starts you off with very little money and you must work your way through a career winning races of which there are over 500, along the way earning new cars and money to tune them up or buy cars from dealer showrooms. The arcade mode is pretty much for the occasional race with little concern for fine tuning the car.

The Cars - The cars in Gran Turismo are undoubtedly very realistic looking exactly like they're real life counterparts. However, I feel that there are too many Japanese cars, there are after all fifty something different Nissan Skyline models alone! Furthermore, big names like Porche, Lamborghini and Ferrari are still missing due to licensing issues.

The Handling - The cars do handle very realistically, you can turn off traction control for serious rubber burning and the difference between front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, rear engine rear wheel drive cars is noticable, for example driving RUF cars with rear engine you can feel the tail slide wildly around due to the weight slung out there. It is difficult to say whether each individual car handles as per it's real life counterpart as I have not driven a Le Mans race car in real life, nor have I ever been rally driving.

The Tracks - There are numerous tracks on offer ranging from the tight Monte Carlo track to the high speed Circuit de la Sarthe and the short but sweet Tsukuba Circuit to the mammoth 13 mile Nuburgring Nordschlief. There are other real life tracks on offer such as Laguna Seca and Suzuka. The city circuits you can see have been built around the real cities they are supposed to be in, however my criticism comes in the tracks that are entirely made up by the developer such as Midfield Raceway and Grand Valley Speedway, they all look very balnd and very boring, almost identical with respect to the grass features, sand traps and so on. The rally tracks are quite spectacular looking however you cannot help but feel that they should have included a stage design instead of laps of a rally track. Furthermore, the rally tracks all too often seem to be focussed around hairpin turns as being the primary type of corner in the design of the circuit which leads to a repetative feel to the rally courses. In Gran Turismo mode in the rally conditions races you also must complete each track both forwards and backwards before that event is complete, just a little unimaginative isn't it?

The Graphics - They are very good, not much else to say here, superb and the game runs in 1080i mode with componet cables.

The Sound - Hmmmmmmm, well the cars do sound like cars, but whether they have got the differentiation between similar models right I'm not sure. Every supercar sounds the same, as do the racecars. The game soundtrack is quite varied, with a heavy focus on rock music from The Hives and Queens of the Stone Age making appearances.

In short, buy this if you are prepared to put many hours into the game as you will be hugely rewarded with many types of cars all with their own unique characteristics, otherwise you may see this as a rather dull game where you will find your interest wavering after your umpteenth race around Autumn Ring Mini to earn that extra cash for that turbo upgrade for that Nissan Skyline.

Seven Classics In One
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was the first console game I ever played on the old megadrive I now have in the attic in an old box, and still I sometimes get the urge to get the old system out and play all the old Sonic games. But now thanks to Sonic Mega Collection I can play all of the old games on the PS2. Best of all the games still have all the original graphics, sounds and music from the old games. So to me it feels just like playing the originals back in the 90s. A must have for any megadrive owner, Sonic fan or classic games fan.

Excellent fun
My 9 year old daughter thinks this is the best game ever. I don't know how she knows - she can't get it away from her 16 and 17 year old brothers, not to mention just about everyone else who comes to visit. This really is enormous fun: the adults can compete with the kids, the kids get to sing along with their favourite tunes, and the grown-ups get to be pop stars too!!!

If you ever (I mean EVER) sing in the bath, shower, car or elsewhere, then you will love this!!

The Godfather (PS2)

Our Price: £10.98

New Price: £6.73

Review for The Godfather (PS2):
ONE OF THE BETTER FILM TIE IN GAMES
The thing that i like most about the game is that it follows the main plot of the movie while also creating a story of its own. In the game you will be able to play the missions from the movie and also do a few that were mentioned but you never saw them. For example you get to be the living crap out of the two guys that beat Bonasera's daughter and you get to sneak into Jack Woltz' mansion and do a little stealth stuff with a garrot wire until you finally reach his bedroom.

The game is kind of like gta with a free roaming mode but i wouldn't say they copied them, gta just created a new saught of thing for gangster games. You can do the usual stuff like on any other mafia game such as killing randoms, stealing cars, robbing banks and bombing places. You can get a good range of weapons and it is pretty cool being able to use 1930's tommy guns, pistols, shotguns and molotovs. The cars are a bit over the top but the handling of them is simple enough. A thing that will get to anyone though is how accurate New York is. You will find that you keep having to look at the huge map in the start menu to make sure that you don't get lost. It will take you about half an hour to get used to controls but once you learn them you are covered.

In the game you will encounter all the same guys you saw in the movie such as Clemenza, Rocco, Al Neri, Tom Hagen etc. The only issue i have with one of the characters is that he is not the same and i am talking about Michael. The guy does not have the same personality and is not the cool smooth Michael that we experienced in the film. James Cann and Robert Duvall reprise their roles and do an excellent job with the voices and so do a few other guys.

I would recommend this game to anyone who is a godfather freak unless you have something wrong with people making it into a game and even if you haven't seen the movie or don't like it, it is a great gangster game.

Fight Night Round 3 (PS2)

Used Price: £4.25
New Price: £6.32

Review for Fight Night Round 3 (PS2):
Realistic but slower
Having been a fan of Fight Night Round 1 i have to confess that i expected something better from the newest versions. FNR3 has better graphics but is considerably slower than FNR1 and the impact of punches is minimized. On the downside I would add that the in-fight commentary is not as good as in FNR1 and the new knock out punches quite impractical to use. On the upside the addition of new boxers such as Sugar Rei Leonard, Marvin Hagler and Oscar De La Hoya is welcomed, although i would like to see also Mike Tyson, George Foreman, Floyd Mayweather etc.
Overall it is a good effort but it fails to provide the excitement of FNR1.

Thanks to the reviewer below. Not only was I gullible enough to try to register with this site, they now have my name, address, and date of birth and I don't even have a registration. It takes you through registration, you fill in your details, then when you try to log in - your details are invalid. When you try to re-register with the same information, which according to them does not exist, it says that your user name and email address are already registered! You try to contact them to tell them of your plight, but guess what? You have to log in to email them. But we all know now that you can't do that, 'cos they have what they want off of you - and you ain't getting anything out of them! The old saying comes to mind right now"if something seems too good to be true - it usually is". BEWARE!!

I bought this as a gift for my sisters 16th birthday. It did not dissapoint, she was right on the ps2 giving it a go. We already had the 80s, RnB and another one but had major trouble finding this in any shop. So thats a bonus right there. It came 3 days after i ordered it. Its the only game with a story mode too it as the others are more fun based but this gives you an objective. Right this very min my sister is singing her heart out on it and im glad it did not dissapoint.

The funniest game ever?
When I first saw this I thought it was babyish and really was for children under the age of 7, but when I brought Buzz the Sports Quiz and Jungle Party was an extra I found it so funny.
We brought it soon after discovering it on Buzz the Sports Quiz and have had endless fun with it since, Me aged 14, my sister aged 11, my brother aged 3 and our parents!
For family fun try this game out and you won't stop laughing when the player next to you drops an anvil on you and when you get squashed by the hippo!

Bought this for my friend for xmas and we all had the most fun we had had in ages, i wish i owned a ps2 now! Younger kids tend to struggle with it a bit as the new music is quite a large range. There are so many levels, i only wish there was an expansion pack so you can add more songs/questions as i have seen them start to repeat. Well worth the money though.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Party Edition (includes Buzz! Buzzers) (PS2)

Used Price: £16.98
New Price: £8.82

Review for Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Party Edition (includes Buzz! Buzzers) (PS2):
Flawed and limited, but fun for Xmas
i bought this for my brother at Xmas. The eyetoy use on this is pointless, no cameo faces on the contestants, just little images shown on a scoreboard. The questions very quickly start to repeat, even if you save games, it doesn't remember to avoid reusing questions from a game played a couple of plays before. The Buzz controllers are not as intuitive as they could be, the buttons should be solid colour at least, the design layout needed a little more thought. Set up takes a long time, needing constant explanation to family members who where confused. People initially got the yellow and orange buttons confused (poor eyesight to blame, but repetitive enough to point to a design flaw). Played for the multiplayer games, another huge flaw was the punitive countdown timer on many games,"multi-millionaire" ending up the default option, since it doesn't have a timer (option hidden in a second menu). The character models are limited cheesy stereotypes that have limited movement and soundbites; they will grate as quickly as the questions repeat.

"Buzz" appears to be a good idea, but has barely been developed from a DVD based quiz played with a remote controller. On a PS2, a little more effort should have been taken. It feels a good idea that was rushed and poorly designed, ending up a money making idea, rather than a real effort to give a genuinely inclusive party game for all the family, young and old can enjoy. That said, my brother loves it. He has learning difficulties and finds it a real challenge, but a challenge he enjoys and has surprised elderly relatives how knowledgeable he really is. And no, he didn't memorise the answers, the questions don't repeat that much and he's not an idiot savant thank you very much... perhaps not a game for elderly relatives at Xmas...
