Wish I could rate it higher, certainly _looks_ great.

This is one of those"so close" cases, where so much was done right that those few things that went wrong are even more glaring.
Among the things it does right are presentation elements like the visuals, the commentaries, the presentation, the athmosphere - it's all top notch. The controls and handling is also quite good, no obvious camera bugs, drops, framerates or other such issues to notice. Various gameplay types look both deep & varied, at least up front (haven't really investigated each of them that well yet), which admittedly can be viewed as either a good or a bad thing depending on what you as a player are looking for.
So why not give this one full marks, then? Well, my main reasons for plucking those two stars of the ratings are the following:
The menus and navigation is at best described as complex; confusing, disorganised & irritating at worst. But the very, very worst thing about this game is found once you head online - it's got no voice communication options at all!! In such an interactive & competitive genre as sports this is an absolute 'must have' feature to include, and here it's just completely missing - for no aparent reason. So you cannot in any easy way negotiate with your opponent about team selection, rules to choose, length of match etc etc. - and you can just forget about that funfilled in-game banter with your online friend during the match!
These glaring ommisions completely killed the multiplayer experience for me, which for a sports title is half the game!! Add to this the annoying navigation 'system' (a term I have to use lightly here), and 3 stars is more than generous.

mmmmmm, flames.

i bought this flame faceplate instead of the black one that came with the guitar and it is lush! a bit of difficulty getting it on but it's brill. to get the old one off you just press the slidy button! it then just slots off.

Great entertainment, but poor graphics

My sons have had hours of fun on this highly addictive game, which is a shame as its let down by graphics which are more PS2 esque rather than PS3. Each new challenge takes some mastering before unlocking new cars with better weapons and speed. The online play works well, though we've had to wait several minutes ofr others to join.
In summary, its a great game let down by uninspiring graphics. Hopefully, a 3rd is on the cards.

Poor picture quality

I bought this instead of the official Sony component cable and wasn't very impressed at all, unfortunately. The cable itself looks the part but the picture quality doesn't deliver; lots of"ghosting" of the image which was especially visible around text. Maybe I just had a duff cable but I ended up buying the Sony cable which provided a much better picture.

Excellent - A must for NASCAR fans

What a great game, it is by far the best NASCAR game EA has ever made, the graphics are quality and EA have also finally managed to make the high groove work so you can run up top of down on the bottom of the track. The super speedway races are really fun with two and three wide racing all the way around the track and where the draft makes all the difference where EA havent done this in previous games.

What else is good about it is the fact you cant just go charging around the ovals you do have to take your time in traffic and watch out for everyone around and it doesnt pay to smash everyone out of the way because you dont see Jeff Gordon crashing everyone off on the real NASCAR circuit.

I have heard alot of people saying that you spin easy, however this isnt the case, you only spin if you turn the corners to hard on the exit but if you do smooth diving then you will never spin and the cars are easy to control even in the big packs of cars at Talladega and Daytona where you can run the middle lane with cars everywhere and still not crash but go foward though the field.

The game is a must buy for all NASCAR fans who would really enjoy the game and the racing. The only thing that lets the game down is Montoya on the front of the cover but the actual game is fantastic

A good concept but poorly executed

The support arm that holds your steering wheel is too flimsy. When turning your steering wheels, the whole thing flexes so it's not too stable. When I turned force feedback on the condition multiplied.

I also find that to have steering wheel at a comfortable height, it's too clost to the body, if I move it away from my body, the steeringwheel is too high (poor design)

Faulty Item

The unit I was shipped had a faulty input 1.

Input 2 worked fine, and to be fair the picture quality looked fine.

However, the unit itself is very cheap and tacky looking, and the lights on the front are very bright, so opted for a refund rather than an exchange.

...It's not going onto the PS3

This game is published by Microsoft Game Studios. Take Two does not have anything to do with this game. The developers (Remedy) only had dealings with the Max Payne franchise last (which was published by Take Two) and the last event that happened between those two was Remedy selling the rights of the Max Payne franchise to Take Two to fund the development of this game.

It is published by MS Game Studios, meaning there is no chance at all of a PS3 game being made.
