Very Pleased

I was considering buying the Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse, but was dissuaded by the poor customer reviews. So I looked into this one. I am glad I did.

It is a good size and shape, it is reliable and very handy. And it matches my white MacBook very well. I have had mine for about 3 weeks now. Battery is fine. It connected straightaway, even without the Logitech software being installed. The fact that it has no extra programmable buttons doesn't bother me. The tracking is excellent - I was just now using it on the arm of my armchair(!) and it was fine. And the Bluetooth range is great too.

And because it is Bluetooth it frees up another USB socket. One thing I was unsure about was whether or not I could use the mouse and run a connection to another Bluetooth device at the same time, I have found out that I can! A bonus!

I have had a few problems with it disconnecting itself from my MacBook, but nothing too serious. Re-pairing it has solved the problem each time.

I whole-heartedly recommend the V470.

Does NOT support BBC stations outside of UK

Thinking of buying this because you're an expat pining for the BBC radio stations? Choose a different product.
The information on the web is quite confusing on this subject, so take it from someone who has just wasted over 100 euros on it. Yes, the Musicpal can now support WMA format (via a firmware upgrade), but if your ISP is outside of the UK you absolutely CANNOT get the main BBC stations. The reason: dear old Aunty doesn't make WMA-format available on non-UK ip addresses.(If you're feeling geeky, you could try to use a UK-based proxy server, but that means keeping a computer switched on, which kind of defeats the purpose of a stand-alone internet radio.)
Bottom line: find a product with RealPlayer support.

A great remote for the ipod, but forget the radio!

I primarily bought this for the remote functionality as being able to control the ipod remotely is an invaluable addition for any ipod. And as a remote this little device works perfect, you can play/pause/skip, fast forward, fast rewind, as well as switch the ipod on and off. An LCD would have been helpful, but nonetheless as a remote this device works flawlessly.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the radio feature. When you first start setting up the radio it starts off promising. When it is plugged in the ipod immediately recognizes it and adds an extra Radio option to its main menu. Select radio from this menu and you are confronted with a very flash and stylishly retro radio dial on the ipod screen. From here you can tune into your favourite radio channels and save them all. This then enables you to flick between your favourite radio channels from the remote. So far so good. But from here on in things go downhill because actually listening to your favourite radio channel is a huge letdown. Stand in the right position and you might be able to pickup the radio station OK, but move a few steps and you'll get nothing but hiss and interference. In fact walking around trying to listen to the radio is a complete non-starter as reception fluctuates so wildly all you'll want to do is switch the radio off, reception is that bad.

So considering the ipod is a portable music player, it's strange that Apple made a radio that requires you not to move an inch if you want to maintain reasonable reception. In other words, this is a lousy radio! So if you're looking for a radio for your ipod, avoid this and buy the more expensive but superior Robert Robi DAB radio instead. But, as a remote, it is excellent so I definitely recommend this device for anyone looking for a remote for their ipod.

Disappointing range

Only complaint is the distance - where I live (suburbs, flat terrain) I've found the range to be 1 mile at best. I can understand that if they advertise it as 5 miles that I might only achieve be 3 or 4 miles but only getting 1 mile is quite disappointing.

Good value

This is great. I needed something light I could take to university because my hi-fi was a bit impractical. The DAB and CD sound quality is crisp and consistent. I personally find it easy to use - the buttons are quite intuitive so you hardly need to read the instructions to get what you want done. You can have several alarms, to play DAB, CD... at whatever volume you want. The variable display is excellent, with a large clock, and not at all bright when you turn it 'off' and go to bed. Looks good, too, and matches my other black, grey, white and silver desk items well. Contrary to one previous reviewer, I have not received a mains hum when this is on standby/off, let alone a signigicant hum, so don't be discouraged by that.

A Quality Product

The thing that strikes you with this player is the quality of the build. First thing is it's very small and very solid. The display is very bright and clear and rolls smoothly across the screen. On another reviewer's advice I had downloaded the software a week ago from Logitech. I plugged everything in, followed the on screen messages and had it all working in less than two minutes.

The remote is also solid and the controls intuitive. The sound is fine for Mp3 but putting the sound through bigger speakers does highlight the fact that mp3 is a compressed format. If you compare bitrates of 96 to 320 you will hear the difference.

Fantastic buy!

Cant grumble at all!! posted order and 4 days later it arrives at my door. the itrip itself, so far has been excellent, works well and is simple and effective. i am almost 17 years old and am shorty going to commence driving after buying myself a car, and i wanted a small gadget which would play my ipod whilst driving. the itrip is excellent as it is small, no wires, simple to use and gives a great sound on the radio!! lovely job!

Brilliant little indestructalbe things.

We bought a load of these radios for use at work. They're quite tough and can handle being dropped down stairs and getting bashed off walls and beds and being dropped in the occasional mop bucket hasn't seem to have done them any harm. We've had them for a few months and they still look good as new despite the abuse they get. They are really simple to use, only taking out staff a few seconds to work it out. The have a good range on them and we've hand conversations going from the basement to the roof of the 4 story stone building we work in...we thought that was impressive. The only problem we've had with them is that the unless your really careful, it's easy to drop them as the clips aren't that secure, but they don't get damaged very easily so that fine.

A complete waste of money!

I bought this as a secondary unit to an iTALKonline transmitter, and while I have probably been spoilt by that piece of kit, I honestly wasn't expecting the Roadtrip to be as bad as it is.

Firstly, the basic fitting is not quite long enough to fit into the cigarette lighter and allow me to actually see and use the ipod. Due to the angle of the socket in my car (Audi TT), the ipod ends up pointing towards the floor, making it difficult to change tracks etc.
Also, the extension arm supplied is way too long and the unit is too heavy to be supported safely by it, leaving it sticking out too far and waggling around.

Secondly, the sound quality is dreadful - far too quiet and when the volume is wacked up to compensate, the resulting FM hiss is far too much to enjoy your music through.

All in all, a truly disappointing purchase and a mistake I would not repeat. I've only given it 1 star because it's not possible to give it any less!

Great digital radio for under £100

I bought this radio 2 weeks ago and I am very happy with it.
Firstly I think is very well priced and looks almost as good as the £200 models ( that can be a bit too small ).

Secondly the maple finish looks stilish and makes any room look good.

The sound is a good as it can get with digital radio and can fill a big room without distorsion. You can program it to wake you up in the morning with your favorite station ( has 2 types of wake up mode weekdays and weekends ) , the brightness settings can be adjusted to night time.

The power sourse looks cheap and ugly so I invested £25 on a Pure VL-60924 ChargePAK E1 battery which are long lasting rechargable and you do not need to take them out as they recharge from the power supply.

In summary this is the best digital radio for under £100 with a classic look.

Get set up out of the way & it's a joy!

I recently bought a Logitech Harmony 1000 remote & was very impressed so I thought I'll check out what else Logitech do.
After looking on their website and seeing the Duet I checked out some reviews. It was all thumbs up so I went ahead & bought one.
I received my Duet & very impressed by the packaging and the size of the units, thought they were going to be bigger! Was a little concerned about the lack of instructions in paper, had to go online @ slimdevices to do set up. The set up online was fairly straight forward but did crash a couple of times, once I got through the crashing I thought I finished my set up there was more! You have to also download Squeezenetwork which is your internet radio, then you have to make sure all your settings are correct on Squeezecentre which you downloaded from slimdevices........too many names! I think I agree with some of the other reviews, if you are a novice you will struggle.
Once all the software is downloaded then the set up on the remote was quick & easy, it found my wireless network not a problem all I needed was my wep key. I set up my receiver to amp using digital output and am very impressed by the sound quality. I've stopped using itunes & MP3's & download in FLAC or WAV now as it streams to higher quality. I'm loving the remote, it's so simple to use and I'm thinking of creating a couple of extra zones (receivers) in the house as you can control different zones independantly or all at once! Great for parties!
In short- get through the pain of setting up & you'll love it!

Small but mighty!

I bought these because of the well detailed specs of the product. I had a university ball on 9th May and there was no phone signal at the venue, so a few of us decided to get walkie talkies! I also bought the earpiece/micrphone (not supplied) for an extra fee, but it provided extra clarity and quality on the night - I also looked like an agent from the Matrix!

5km range meant that I could always contact people. Roger-Beep tone helps you know when someone is going to talk/finished. Very simple operation controls. I did not have time to charge and use the provided batteries and used normal ones. Radios were on from ~8pm until 5am and the 'battery low' light was not even on at the end of the night. Belt clip helped keep it discrete (especially with earpiece/mic) and secure.

Would recommend to anyone in a similar situation - I don't know how I've survived without them for so long, we had a great laugh with them and will come in handy for other events this year, e.g. V Festival.

Only given 4 stars because they almost didn't arrive in time. Bought on a Monday, shipped Tuesday. Due to arrive Friday latest - arrived 2pm Royal Mail. So slightly disappointed considering site says"**FAST NEXT DAY DELIVERY**".

Overall excellent product though! Get some!

Misrepresentation

I bought this radio from K.K.Electronics because it was described by them as waterproof. When I got it, I found out that the manufacturer described it as showerproof, that's quite a difference, so buyer beware. The radio is fine in all other respects so I haven't returned it. Just wish people would be honest.

Great sound, lousy clock

This radio looks and sounds great. But the clock, self-setting digitally, is NOT UP TO SCRATCH! Three minutes behind all the time. I bought this item for radio alarm, so disappointing.

This item is absolutely fab and is totally going to be on all of my friends and family's birthday and christmas present lists for this year! Sounds amazing and is totally easy to use! And wait I didn't tell you the best part.... its uber good for the environment!! Woop!

Great sound from a compact all-rounder!

Pros:

Great sound with little distortion from such a small unit. CD sound is clear and has plenty of bass.
DAB signal is strong and display is very clear.
Handy autotune takes hassle out of homing in on over 50 stations.

Cons:

Remote control sometimes takes a few presses to respond and has limited range.
Buttons on the radio front need a firm press to activate.

Overall a good value for money product that is well designed. Good looks and good sound too. Highly recommended.

Overpriced rubbish.

Very disappointed with this radio. Build quality is poor with the radio not inset to the wooden frame correctly and the sound quality is appalling. I can only liken it to listening to a normal radio with a pillow over the speaker. My old Sony FM radio knocks spots off this radio so back to Amazon it goes. Unfortunately, I was also bought the Chargepak for this radio as a Christmas present and I am unable to return this to John Lewis as more than 28 days have elapsed. Arghhh!

unsceduled alarms

I like the look and feel of this radio....but,
The first one I bought kept switching on at 4AM even though the alarms were either switched off or scheduled for later in the day.

I replaced the radio within a week and the second radio is doing the same - this time at 2AM!

I am returning the radio and choosing an alternative brand.

Yes it does work

After getting this bad boy today and initially having the switching off after a couple of mins problem I can confirm that by uploading the 1.1.2 software it works like a dream on my classic 80g IPOD. Looking forward to having it for the test matches over the summer. Would recommend it to those with the new generation IPODs.
