This is brilliant

This pocket sized speaker produces an excellent sounds with ample bass and at a very surprisingly loud volume. Really great product.

Sony SRS-TP1 Portable Speakers - Black - These are good

From the moment you first take these Sony speakers in your hand you will notice a difference from many of the disposable sets of speakers you have probably owned before. These units have weight, not too much, dont worry. But they contain good speakers with good magnets and surprisingly magnetic shielding so you can use them next to CRT screens without any issues (anyone have a CRT screen anymore?)

You don't see the underside of the unit on the Amazon page but its very nice with a shiny steel underside not unlike a popular MP3 player I can't mention.

There is a clever cable management system to hide the ample 8-inch cable when not in use.

There are what I assume to be bass ports-ish at the rear.

The sound is clear and the bass is excellent. This is not a ghetto blaster, it is unpowered so don't expect to wake the neighbours but it is ample enough and quality enough to listen to music and watch movies which is what I wanted it for.

I am pleased, I think you probably will be too just remember they are unpowered but that does mean you'll never run out of batteries or have them burst inside the casing which is excellent for a traveller like myself.

Look good, sound great, clever design that closes over the speakers to protect them, worth the small price and then some.

Great Starter Home Cinema System

Background: I am first time home cinema buyer. I have never been keen on too many speakers/big boxes in my living room. Mainly because I own a hi-fi music system that takes up a lot of space. My living room is 12x15 foot.

Review: I have had the Sony HT-IS100 for about a month. It was the perfect size/price solution. I considered Sony DAVIS10 amongst a few others. The IS100 has 3 HDMI inputs, one HDMI TV output, upscales to 1080p, minus the DVD player. Compare this to DAVIS10 which upscales to 1080i, has a single HDMI connection and does not have x.v. Colour and 24p True Cinema technology. I did not need the DVD player. Similar sized speakers, better specifications makes this little gem future proof.

I have compared this to Sony RHT G900 on its own and a Yamaha YSP-900 with a subwoofer attached. The HT-IS100 sounds as good if not better than the Yamaha, has better sound separation and is almost invisible. Compared to Sony RHT G900 the performance from HT IS100 is awesome. Overall bass and treble reproduction is great, mid tones are ok. I would not use this as a dedicated music system though it does a decent job with stereo sound. I am very happy with the purchase. If your living room is of a similar size don't hesitate.

If you are a first time home cinema buyer set aside an hour or two to plan wall mounting and connecting the system. The system comes with an optical cable, a remote (can be use to control Sony TV and DVD) and plenty of speaker cables. You will need an extra HDMI cable if you want to make use of the high definition TV out.

Amazing Sound Quality

After having bought one of the retro iPod clocks a few weeks ago for my bedroom i decided to take the plunge with one of these for the lounge and im not at all disapointed. I couldnt afford the Bose version and i have to say these are amazing. Sound quality is great and means i dont have to buy a full stereo system.

Looks very stylish too!

A useful little item to have!

I'd have to argue with the claim that this item ensures anyone sharing the bed isn't disturbed, at all. It's not quite that good, but does a fair job of reducing the noise of a bedside radio in general, and it's a handy item to have, if sharing the room with another person.

** Be Warned** - the volume of your radio will need to be considerably turned up to hear it through the pillowspeaker (and your pillow!) so standby to turn the volume DOWN swiftly, if you unplug the speaker - or you'll deafen the neighbours!

Crackin and cracklin

I've had this speaker system for a few days now, i bought it with an ipod video thinking i'd want a decent speaker system to listen to my ipod music. This speaker system is not only good looking - it sounds fantastic. It fits all ipods with the supplied adapters, and has dual voltage (3pin uk/ 2 pin) plugs included so you could use it abroad. Only thing to be aware of is to read the instructions on which way is best to connect leads before turning on power supply as i did get some amazing (and alarming) sparking by stupidly doing it it the wrong order! Doh!
As a speaker system it is very close to perfect, and why buy a rubbish speaker when you spent so much on the ipod? Listen to your music with this and you won't be dissapointed.

Happy First Time!

I got this as a Christmas gift and I was impressed instantly. I wasn't expecting amazing sound out of something so small, i'm not that naive but I got a lot more than I did expect. The player comes with a remote that allows you to select a playlist and skip between tracks. The only unfortunate thing with this remote is that you can't navigate the menu screens with it and have to do this by hand but that's a minor annoyance that I can bear. The only real irritation I have is that the player hums a little when the Ipod is lit up. Set you're ipod to dim quickly though and you shouldn't notice it. There are better players out there if you wish to spend the money but this player really is worth it's price... snap it up, it's great for a small get togeteher!

Very good compromise if you cannot accomodate 6 speakers

I bought the RTH-G900 three weeks ago and I am very satisfied with it. I had before a big Pioneer amplifier from the VSX series plus 6 B&W speakers. To give you some scope for the comparison: about £2800 in equipment.

Things I like about the Sony:

1. Good looks and well built. It does look very good indeed.
2. Threes HDMI 1.3a connection plus 3 optical, one coaxial and one stereo also.
3. The HDMIs can take 1080p/24 without any problem at all.
4. The best part of this set is not that you can stream 5.1 though the HDMI connection and it will decode Dolby digital and DTS fine, as you expect: the ice on the cake is that you can also stream High Definition audio sources as long as you do it in PCM (only possible through HDMI) and then, you are in for a treat. If you have a HD-DVD player or a Blue-ray player then get ready for proper sound. The soundtrack in DTS-Master for"Brotherhood of the wolfs" in HD-DVD blew my head away last Saturday. Pristine sound, good scale and control. Soundtracks in Dolby TrueHD also sound great.

Things I do not care for:

1. The bass does not go low enough as you would like but it is quite pleasant and well controlled. Taking on account that the sub woofer is enclosed within the rack it is quite remarkable that it can achieve decent bass in the first place. Good but not great.
2. The surround sound field is not totally convincing but it does definitely sound far better and more involving than stereo. The atmospheric sounds in movies are reproduced fine with the virtual effect but it does not get close to my previous 5.1 at all. Taking on account that the whole thing cost me less than half of what I paid just for my previous amply, I think this is a 5 STARS product (and my wife is now happy too!).

tecknet ad-05 ipod portable speaker and docking system

Excellent sound quality.I have tried a few other portable docking systems and find this far better.Definitely a case of good things come in small packages!Will be good for taking on holiday as it is dicreet and works with batteries as well as AC adapter[ordered separately].Brilliant!!!

A Good Speaker

Overall, this is a great speaker system. They produce quality sound for its size, midtones are good. it can work with my ipod nano 3G and ipod video.

ive had these speakers for about 3years and after using them everyday almost full volume the treble is starting to hiss when i first got them i was gob smacked buy the sound quality that each 9w sattilite produced
overall i have been very impressed with these speakers i would recommend them to anyone i am going to buy another pair soon and use the ones i have at the moment for the tv

it is actually gd!

i bort this mp3 becasue it looks gd n has loadz of features. it definately worth the money it cums with a clip on which is useful, the sound quality is gd n the loud speakers as loud as my fone. o and i thought it wudn display the name of the song but it does which is gdCreative Zen Stone Plus MP3 Player With In-Built Speaker - Pink

Solid and reliable

I upgraded my original cassette/radio for one of these, and I'm not disappointed. I specifically wanted a volume dial to turn, which is fairly positive, though could be a bit heavier... Its nice to look at too, bright blue light around the volume and red illumination for the other buttons.

It has a random function, which is handy for my mp3 cds, though one complaint I do have is that the Previous and Next (<< + >>) buttons, do not do random, they move to the next song number. I feel this could easily be improved. Clear sound, with no cd skipping so far for me, and I have been down some fairly rough tracks.

Its the quality you expect from Pioneer, in a stylish, subtle package. I don't like over the top chrome and LEDs and racing stripes... or whatever they have on Headunits now. Simple, clean and easy to navigate and use is what I want and this performs wonderfully. If you are after a decent replacement, and not wanting the cost to spiral ridiculously, then I can recommend this above the flood of other units.
