great buy

Great sound for a flat. If you have neighbours it goes louder than you'll ever be able to get away with! It looks stunning and the little creatures are the perfect companion to a black macbook - really funky in red, although the centre creature is a lot larger than I expected. Bass and treble are controlled with the centre creature. Volume is touch control (plus and minus buttons) on the right mini speaker, which is really effective. If you're looking to fill a huge space with top level sound, this isn't the product for you as sound distorts a little at the max, but if it's for your office, flat or large room then I wholeheartedly recommend it.

They look good...

We needed some PC speakers that looked good enough to be on show; and these do. The fronts have a nice piano black finish, the silver cone surrounds look good and overall they're easy on the eye.
Not quite so easy on the ear however. The treble is clear at low volumes and there's some mid too; no bass. Nothing even close to bass but then they are narrow. Buy these for looks and be happy.

Small and Mighty

I have been looking around for a portable speaker system for a while, considering the streetparty and various other makes. My first impressions were just how small the unit is, I was worried that it wouldn't measure up in the sound department. I don't own an ipod and have been using my little 1 gb sony player and the results are great, sound is crisp and clear and the volume from such small speakers is amazing. I am no audio expert but wow! Ok these are more expensive but the extra price is really worth it. The only slight problem is that it doesn't come with a power supply just a usb lead for power from a computer, but this is small omission for a great little package.

Great Budget Buy

These speakers offer execelent value for money and are a great choise for someone wishing the make the leap to surround sound. I have teamed the speakers with a Sony - STR-DG520 Surround Amp and can honestly say the sound is extreamly good. I have listened to other DVD based systems and this setup blows them out of the water, the speakers are quite small but produce a big bright sound. The sub produces a lovely deep rumble which the cheaper DVD based systems simply cannot match. Overall then I am well pleased.

One of the best sounding iPod docks

It's a shame Altec Lansing have now discontinued this model- it's by far one of the best sounding iPod docks on the market and now at £99.99p it's an absolute steal!

The sound from this dock is amazing- it features separate mid range and tweeters on each channel and a separate side firing sub woofer with an additional passive woofer at the other end of the tube that works in a push-pull configuration to really enhance the lows.

This dock delivers really crisp, clean room filling sound with plenty of low end and it is very loud!!

Another plus is that you can also run this off 8 D cells so you can take it with you to the park, bbq- not the most portable ( weighs 10lbs with batteries!) but if going by car somewhere for the day then weight isn't really an issue.

This really can replace your stereo and sounds much much better than the more expensive Bose SoundDock

It works a treat with the iPhone and iPod Touch.

One note however- the s video and video outputs from the dock don't work with the new iPod Classics, Touch and iPhone as they require special DRM chipped cables to output video. But that's not really a downside for me- as I bought it for playing music. But if you have a gen 4 or older iPod then you can use this feature

You can also input any other MP3 player, PC etc using AUX in on the back

So to sum up. A great price, top notch build quality (lots of metal) stunning sound and looks amazing!

Buy and you won't be disappointed

In a word: Disappointing

My expectations of this gadget were both raised and managed by previous reviews. I certainly wasn't expecting Hi-Fi quality sound, but I was hoping for something more than the weak, tinny and underwhelming noise it produces.

On the plus side: it's a compact, light-weight and fairly well designed piece of kit - ideal for travelling etc - but, for me anyway, that doesn't compensate for the sound being inadequate and lacking any character at all.

Sound-wise, my reference point is the PowerTraveller K2000 speakers - a robust mini system which produces an incredible sound for its size. Unfortunately, my set proved unreliable and after just four months started to cut out. Even so, I'm going to give the Powertraveller the benefit of the doubt and order them again, as the Kensington FX300 just doesn't cut it for me.

excellent speaker!

Bought this speaker after transfering around 16GB of music onto my walkman phone, getting fed up of having a wire hanging from it to a speaker and having to walk over to the phone everytime I wanted to change a track etc.. This speaker has made life much easier, now I can keep the phone on my person and have compleate control over the music wherever I am in the room.

The speaker is larger than I thought it would be (around 40cm length) and also quite powerful, it has no trouble filling a large room with sound, always keeping a well balanced crisp punchy sound, even at high volume levels. It paired easily with my W880i walkman phone and also seems to have a pretty long range. All in all a very good product and so much better than having to plug a device into a speaker system using wires. I think also the price is very good so 5 stars from me :)

NOT COMPATIBLE WITH 3G NANO - BEWARE!

I ordered one of these for my daughter's birthday and luckily looked in the box before wrapping it up. It is not compatible with the Ipod Nano 3G, which to be fair it does say in the item description BUT as the blue version shows a photo of the identical clock radio with clearly an adapter with a 3g sitting neatly in it, I assumed that all colours of the same product must have the same adapter included - WRONG! How ridiculous. If only a few colours are being sold with the adapter, it should be made very clear in the item description that an adapter is or is not included. I have now ordered the Ozaki Radio Alarm Clock instead - from Pocket Media Store online as they are selling it cheaper (£29.99) and with free p&p, unlike Amazon. Normally I have no problems with Amazon, but I am extremely annoyed by this.

Great Speakers

I bought these speakers recently so I could use my iPod Touch in the kitchen. Absolutely fantastic speaker for the price. Great rich sound for a unit so small. They're a basic speaker in that there's no remote or added functionality but they're perfect for what I need. They come with a dust bag and are certainly small enough to travel with. Can be used with batteries or the supplied power adaptor. The buzzing sound people have reported worried me a little, but thus far I have not witnessed this. Highly recommended.

Also works with I Pod with free bluetooth dongle.

Decent - just about worth £30

I bought this as I wanted something portable for use in the garden and bathroom.

For £30, it's just about worth it .... mainly for the convenience and portability it offers as the sound quality is fairly average.

Was a doddle to set up with my phone, which is a Sony W950i so supports A2DP and connects up easy as pie.

Far more hassle getting it working with my computer. XP doesn't support A2DP natively so you'll need to install alternate bluetooth software in order to get it working (and your dongle needs to be a Widcomm based one or you've had it). Got it going eventually but the setup was far from straightforward.

Having said all that, once it is working it does what it says on the tin and it looks pretty smart in the bathroom.

The built in rechargeable battery is a definite plus and it may well come in handy on holiday as a portable speaker to attach to my media player.

Sound quality is pretty average. Very little bass and overall I'd give it about 5/10 on this front but then it was never going to blow your head off with 2x2w output I suppose.

Controls on the device are limited and a wee bit fiddly but OK once you get the hang of them.

Overall, as long as you don't expect miracles on the sound quality front, it's probably just about worth the money. I wouldn't buy it at the £50 it was originally priced at though.
