Great steamer, great price
This steamer is great. I thought it takes ages for water to start steaming etc., and I am positively surprised. After 1-2 min steamer is already working. After 20-30 min. all vegetables are cooked and you can enjoy your meal. Food taste great. Very easy to clean-just rinse under the tap and leave it to dry :) Just have to figure out how to cook rice and pasta.3

excellent slow cooker
I got one of these as a prescent from my children never used one before, and have to say its great the meat is so tender joints and casseroles, currys pasta sauce etc, ideal for my family as i have four children and can feed us all its so big, i would recommend this if you have a large family, otherwise buy the smaller one.5

Uncontrollable heat and poorly made
Having read the reviews of this item I was impressed and went ahead and bought one. Maybe I just got a duff one but the removable probe would not stay put in the side of the pan. Any slight movement to the pan - and this is easy if you place it on a worktop as there are no stabilising rubber feet on the bottom, just metal ones - and the probe comes loose from the main body. This means that it switches itself off and you probably don't even notice. Also it seems impossible to run at low temperatures for simmering etc. A low temperature setting just causes the pan to spend a period of time not appearing to heat at all followed by a short burst of intense heat rather than a continuous gentle simmering. Very disappointing. Of use only for high heat whilst you stand over it. I sent it back.7

This product worked well at first. However we then found that on occasions when it's not possible to fully prick through the egg shell and internal membrane the egg will crack. This results in the egg white and yolk spilling out into the water which then bubbles up and spills out between the heated base and the top cover. This leaves a nasty mess and eggs which haven't been cooked properly. When this happens the egg white bakes on to the heated base and is very difficult to remove.8

Perfect rice everytime
I am really pleased with this rice cooker. It's very simple to use, basically you measure out how many cups of rice you want ie 1 cup per person, add the equivalent in water switch it on and wait about 10 mins and voila, perfect rice. You can also put your rice on to cook, leave it and then it will switch over to the keep warm function when it is ready so it doesn't burn, so if you need to pop out for an hour or so you can put it on before you leave and it is ready and waiting when you get back. I haven't really had any problems with it overflowing or leaving a starchy mess either...I usually only cook up to about 3 cups worth so maybe the problems occur if you cook larger quantities.10

Not much room!!
I bought this more because it looked cool and I thought the ability to cook in seperate areas made it a bonus. The problem is though that each little bowl is just that! Little!! I would say at best you could steam vegetables for 2 people but if like me you want to use it to help cook a sunday roast for 4 people then you'll be getting out saucepans as well. Dissapointing and also I have to say the quality of the unit is not that good either and feels very plasticky.12

Tried it-loved it
I only cooked twice in slower cooker, it takes ages to cook :), but I can say that food taste so much better. You can actually taste all the goodness. The only problem I had is that I left it once for whole night, and food was bit burned. I didn't put enough water, and all water steamed out. So now I know to put bit more water so it doesn't burn.=

Excellent rice cooker
An excellent addition to the Kitchen if you like your rice. Easy to use and clean. The steam option is O.K. too, not that it's used that often. A recommendation should you purchase, follow supplied cooking instructions. However, once cooked, the longer you leave on the"stay warm" setting the better the texture of the rice (Firmer). Otherwise it can be a little soggy straight after it's initial cooking phase. You will not be disappointed.

Great at it's job but shabby plastic broke soon!
I think it works fab as most of the other reviews do.My one complaint is that somehow the plastic on mine seemed to be substandard... I don't know if this would be the case with all these produced or just a batch? I've had mine for a couple of years and use it maybe once a month (we're not talking heavy use here). ALL of the plastic components are breaking off. The handle on one side of the stainless steel outer pot snapped in 2, part of the lid (the bit you use to lift the glass lid off the pot) handle cracked off, and just now the dial on the front snapped in 2, meaning I can no longer select off/high/medium/low without a pair of pliers. Hmmm.
I'll be getting a new one, and it's not going to be another of these. :(
