Nice display piece, but little else.

The other figure in this line was the Alien Warrior, which is a superb figure with lots of detail, articulation and plenty of play value. This Hybrid however, seems to be lacking in most of these severely, and hardly compares to the Warrior at all.

To begin with, its posability and articulation points are absolutely minimal. There are ball-jointed shoulders (which are very limited in movement), swivel biceps (which doesn't really make any difference and just provides an ugly line in the sculpt), swivel wrists, hips and thighs (same as the biceps). The head is on a ball joint, the tail is bendable and a nice touch is the hinged jaws, which allows them to open a bit. This may seem like a lot, but you'll see that the figure was clearly supposed to only be positioned in one way, so most of these articulariotn points are only designed to help you achieve said pose after taking it out of the box. The torso and waist are sculpted at an angle as well, so even the rest of the figure was much more poseable, it would still only really fit one pose. Given all this, there's not much you can do with the hybrid other than display it and look at it; which works for a lot of people. There is definitely low play value.

This brings me to my next point. If all you want to do is look at it, this is a perfect figure . It is incredibly detailed from head to toe, and looks stunning. The only faults you'll notice off the bat are the cuts in the model for the swiveling biceps and thighs, but these aren't even that much of a problem. Close observation will reveal dozens of small details that make the figure quite superb visually (such as its transparent head-dome, a small inner-mouth lurking behind the jaws, and the individual dreadlocks lining its head). My particular figure had a poorly constructed left arm (the join is very loose and doesn't fit together very well), but this doesn't impact the look of the figure all that much. The sheer level of detail almost makes up for the fact that you can't do anything with your Hybrid other than look at it. This figure only gets 3/5 stars because while it looks very good, it fits the bill of a model or statue better than a figure.

As a final note, potential buyers should be aware that there are apparently two versions of this figure released side-by-side. For one, the mandibles around its mouth are closed, and for the other they are open. The open-mandible version looks infinitely better (as the closed ones look stupid and obscure its real mouth), but there seems to be no difference at all other than this.

Hasbro continue their releases of 2008's Complete Saga collection with a wave of figures devoted entirely to this year's new Star Wars computer game - The Force Unleashed. Figure #15 is Imperial Captain Juno Eclipse.
Juno is the captain of Vader's ship, the Rogue Shadow, and is appointed by Vader to pilot his secret apprentice around the galaxy.
Hasbro have gone a stage further with figure creation this year and have added extra joints and movements to their figures for even greater poseability. The paint and detailing on the figure is excellent.
Juno has head (rotational and vertical), shoulder (rotational and abductional), elbow (rotational and vertical), wrist (rotational), torso (rotational), hip (rotational), knee (rotational and vertical) and ankle (rotational and vertical) joints giving her a massive 24 movements of articulation.
She comes equipped with a black E-11 rifle, her black captain's hat and there is a personalised figure stand which is the same design that we had in the 2006 The Saga Collection line.
Each figure in this wave comes with one of four randomly packed cheat codes for The Force Unleashed game.
A nice figure and a must have for those dioramas.

"I will deal with this Jedi slime myself."

Hasbro kick off their first releases of 2008's Complete Saga collection with a wave of figures from Episode 3: Revenge Of The Sith. The next figure in the line is #05: Tri-Droid.
This is the first time that the Techno Union's tripodal assault droid has been released.
Droids usually have limited poseability due to their structure but this one has lots of joints and movement and is one of the larger units in the 3 ¾ inch figure line. It has a leg base of 5 inches and stands 4 ½ inches tall.
It comes disassembled in the packet and all you have to do is attach the legs. A word of warning to collectors - the upper leg joint where the limb attaches to the body is very tight and may bend or snap if you do not loosen it prior to attachment.
The upper body has 3 laser cannons which can fold up inside the `head' with the barrels along the outside. Each leg has four joints to extend them outwards from the body. The final leg joint also has rotational capacity and the outer `toe' can open and close to the limb. This gives the droid 21 points of movement which is most impressive and allows for maximum poseability.
There are no accessories but there is a personalised figure stand which is the same design that we had in the 2006 The Saga Collection line.
A fantastic addition to any Droid Army. Roger roger!

TIE Interceptor

A must have model for all Star Wars Lego enthusiasts, collectors and those who just want to play. The model is simple and quick to put together, and comes with a TIE Pilot figure. Please note that many web prices seem excessive for this model, which has an RRP of £17.99, check your local toy retailer or even visit Toys R Us (disclaimer I have nothing to do with this store), who sell these items at the manufacturers recommended price. Also beware of some web retailers who open the packaging to remove the figures and then sell the model on, personally I wouldn't want the model without the figure, but it's your choice!

Utapau Commander: Cody

This is an excellent new Saga Collection figure of Commander Cody straight from Hasbro. Cody's debut came in Star Wars Episode 3 Revenge Of The Sith when he fought on the sinkhole world Utapau alongside General Obi Wan Kenobi. He commanded the entire 212th Attack Battalion against the Separatist forces and the evil menace, General Grievous. When Order 66 was given, he turned on his Jedi General and blasted him with a nearby AT-TE tank cannon. Now at last you can get your hands on this unique figure. Excellant for presents and gifts. But hurry, these are gonna be popular!
(NOTE - This toy is 5/5 stars for fun if you combine it with a couple of Saga Collection #26 Clone Troopers!)

"Execute Order 66!"

Hasbro kick off their first releases of 2008's Complete Saga collection with a wave of figures from Episode 3: Revenge Of The Sith. The next figure in the line is #04 Kashyyyk Trooper, Sarlaac Batallion - 41st Elite Division.
This figure is a very welcome update of the previous 2006 The Saga Collection #65 release. Essentially it is a repaint of the Scout Trooper from the 2006 The Saga Collection AT-AT Walker or 2007 Episode 6 Commemorative Tin Collection with a slightly modified flip-up visor.

The Kashyyyk Trooper has head (rotational and vertical), shoulder (rotational and abductional), elbow (rotational and vertical), wrist (rotational), torso (rotational and vertical), hip (rotational), knee (rotational and vertical) and ankle (rotational and vertical) joints giving him 24 movements of articulation.
He comes equipped with a black heavy assault rifle and there is a personalised figure stand which is the same design that we had in the 2006 The Saga Collection line.
An absolute must have for any Clone Army and for those who want drivers and gunners for the 2008 AT-AP Walker.

Hasbro continue their releases of 2008's Complete Saga collection with a wave of figures devoted entirely to this year's new Star Wars computer game - The Force Unleashed. Figure #12 is Battle Damaged Darth Vader.
When the newly formed Rebel Alliance board the first Death Star, Vader is forced to the brink of defeat and is the closest he's ever come to death since his fateful duel on Mustafar with Obi-Wan.

Vader has head (rotational), shoulder (rotational and abductional), elbow (rotational and vertical), wrist (rotational), torso (rotational), hip (rotational), knee (rotational and vertical) and ankle (rotational and vertical) joints giving him a massive 23 movements of articulation.
He comes equipped with his red lightsabre. Vader's helmet, left arm covering, left shin guard and a fragment of the chest plate all detach for battle damage and show the burned flesh or mechanics underneath. There is a personalised figure stand which is the same design that we had in the 2006 The Saga Collection line.
