Ordered from Amazon 16.27 Friday, estimated delivery Tuesday, having breakfast Monday 07.50, doorbell, new TV, amazing Amazon!!. As to the Philips TV again amazing, so simple to set up even a 3 year old could do it!. I have never seen a clearer picture, almost 3D, and the sound quality betters many expensive hi-fi systems I could name. Altogether an extremely good value purchase, too good for the kitchen where it was destined (I could have a problem with my wife over that so it looks like another purchase shortly). Don't look any further if you are thinking of purchasing a new digital/freeview LCD TV of this size, this has to be it.

Review for Samsung SM2032MW 20" Widescreen TV Monitor- Black:
Very good for the money
After many hours of decision making i decided on this neat little tv from Samsung. I would not go as far as saying that this tv is excellent but it is very good and provides good quality throughout. The only thing i would comment on is the build quality which is a bit in the light side. I have a Sony Bravia W2000 series and the difference is quite obvious. But then again the Bravia is a lot more expensive.
The courier Citylink were not up to much and i would go as far to say that they were a bunch of twats who would not compromise at all when it came to a rough delivery time. They even told me that they would hold it in the depot for me to collect myself. On my way there ( 1hrs drive) my gf called to say that they had delivered it a second time to my neighbour who luckily was in to sign for it. Citylink you are incompetent and if Amazon use you for any of my future purchases i will not be buying !!!

Excellent buying experience
I had been reviewing TV's for a few weeks on different websites. Found this deal on Amazon and couldn't believe my eyes. Quickly checked out other site ratings and costs, £350 less than any other site and good reviews.

I ordered the TV on the Saturday night, on Monday the delivery company called me to set up a delivery. Wednesday, brilliant only four days later with a one hour delivery slot between 7am - 8am, FANTASTIC.

The delivery men phoned me at 6.55am to say they were on the way by 7.20 am, TV delivered in the house and i was on the way to work. GREAT SERVICE ALL ROUND and probably the BEST buying experience i've had.

AND THE TV IS GREAT

don't worry, dear, it's only a tv!
Delivery: Amazon paid for despatch (£7) is extremely fast - faster than they say!
Their free delivery, on the Sony upscaling DVP-Ns78H took six days. Worse service than a shop, for central London.

Why Buy Samsung: Samsung are LCDTV. They have made for other brands, used to, or still are, to such an extent that without Sharp, the rest of LCDTV is either Samsung or has been in the past. The Series One specification had a fantastically sharp picture. This is Series Five. They are now on Series Six - take note of these Series, they're a problem for you.

Plug 'N Play: The easiest television set up I have ever seen! Takes seconds, makes you feel stupid. Beware of screwing in base. Best to rest on bed and slip it into the gap the right way - use a long shaft phillips, these are deep screws and they do finally close. Much more difficult than start-up menu.

Condition: The highly lacquered frame had two marks on exactly the same place above and below the screen where a holder had kept it steady in the production process - irremovable, poor cosmetic quality control.

Remote Control: Elegant, but stupid. A cheap copy of A Bang and Olufsen it is easy to get it upside down putting the whole tv into chaos just as you want to watch your program.

Sky Digibox with Scart: As good as that remarkable Series One 26", but this is a critical system. Bad in, bad out. BBC One is the worst signal and this tv tells you. It then rises through the list to Channel Five which is DVD standard for broadcast tv via scart. In the main menu I suggest you raise Sharpness to at least 50%, to help the BBC. Use the energy-saving option, too, full-power isn't necessary

Upscaling SONY DVP-NS78H: HDMI picture, truly superb. Sony confirms HDMI connection with bright blue light. Planet Earth and Wild Africa truly fantastic, although this LCDTV has been gentled, to give it that plasma softness. I like pin-sharpness like Series One. Avoid sharpness setting on Sony, it makes the outlines too harsh and shadowy. Cheaply produced dvd's fare less well, panning shots are shown juddery, but these are either old or blue. An irritating aspect of the technology is the lack of depth of field. A firgure in the foreground, Wesley Snipes in Blade, is rendered unnaturally sharp. Someone one step behind far more out of focus than they would be in real life, yet you can see them listening attentively. But who talks to anyone with their back turned? Apart from Londoners who walk everywhere while looking in the opposite direction?

Sound: the sound of this tv is fantastic, especially when playing high-quality dvds through its long-throw speakers. I thought an eagle was flying around my head. It feeds the superb Sony STR-DA1200Es 5.1 beautifully with tight red and white plug connects, and movies from the scart skybox are fantastic, this amp makes the best of anything, but it is a 1080i connection. Five Mordaunt-Shorts, one Nad subwoofer. TV sound is so good at low volumes you can save power and leave amp off most of the time. (The sony upscaling DVD plays music via coaxial fantastically to this amp, by the way, justifying its purchase as a music player alone at £70. Just remember Sony messed up Betamax, Minidisc, Minidisc music, the awful Clie, and ended the fantastic Dimage range of Minolta digital cameras. Vaio are very good, though.

Demerits: The Samsung TV loses all points, really, because there is no SD card reader, and no USB direct connection for computer updates to aid futureproofing. There are idiotic PC monitor connections, wasting space and money - who wants to write a novel or run through YouTube on 32"? The watching of movies online is greatly exaggerated in its consumer appeal. Unless you're the James Bond family. The biggest problem is how the fantastic Series One 26", two years old, became instantly obsolete. It had HDMI alright, it just didn't work. The communication protocols are constantly upgraded and this one will becaome obsolete also. Sony specializes in grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory and if you think Blue-Ray is the end you're mad. This is a 1080 P TV. That is the highest standard. A lot of people are buying HD-ready on the basis that it is the highest standard - not only do these tvs become obsolete, unless the name actually includes 1080P it just isn't the highest standard. What you see in shops is irrelevant - the screens are all set on the shop display mode, what you get at home is better, and many are showing 'specially engineered dvds to make them look good. At £580 this makes Bang & Olufsen unjustifiable, but Harmon & Kardon at Selfridges, even thought it's a shop setting, is demonstrably the highest standard. Recommended, especially for price at 1080P, but I love my analogue radios and cameras - you should try it, analogue may well be the technology of the future! All digital has built-in obsolescence. They can really mess you around with this, just like Tony Blair, who loved it.

Very happy kids & husband
We were looking for a new TV and were bombarded with all sorts of information.
Should we get an LCD or Plasma?
We decided on LCD because of power consumption.

What size? 40 inches is perfect for the room we have.
HD ready or 1080p? We erred on the side of 1080p to try to future-proof as much as possible.

Sony or Toshiba or LG or Philips or Panasonic or Samsung?
We nearly went for Panasonic or Samsung but the price from Amazon won it for us. We researched other people's views and reviews and being Which members we were able to access their very comprehensive reports. Panasonic and Sony did very well in their tests.

We have had the TV for 2 weeks now and the 3 boys (12, 14 & 53) are very happy with our purchase.

The glass stand that Amazon sell with this TV is an excellent buy also. Our new kitten loves it!

Nice .. but
Sure it is big, stylish and produces pretty nice images ... but when I look at my screen with the blank screensaver (so a black screen) in the dark it feels like I am looking at a torchlicht. And that when the brightness is at 0... don't know if this qualifies for a return, but I guess I'll soon find out if the costumer service of Amazon.co.uk is up to par with Amazon.com...

A very pleasant TV
To be totally honest I needed a new TV and this being my first is a great vocal point in my room. It was very easy to install and is great to view. The pictures bursts with colour and this isn't even in HD. So far I haven't bought a PS3 or a have a Sky HD box yet so I still have to wait to get the full potential of this TV. But honestly so far so good, and definitely great for the NEWER, LOWER price.
Freeview signal was easy to get just by using a conventional TV aerial, but remember to set the TV on the adequate TV settings according to your taste.
All in all Sony has adapted to the future extremely well!

Sony KDL-26U3000 - 26'' Widescreen Bravia HD Ready LCD TV - With Freeview
We had the misfortune of my old JVC CRT TV which weighed a tonne to stop working just before Christmas, which was not really what we wanted. So we searched around for a replacement and came up with the Sony Bravia KDL-26U3000. The build quality is excellent and looks superb either switched on or just switched off. The colours are amazing and as with Sony TVs the black is really black giving excellent contrast and sharpness, when the TV is off this is apparent as you can just see how dark the screen is rather than that greyness some TV's have. So far we have connected Sky, DVD RAM recorder by Scart lead giving excellent picture quality, along with and old PS2 by component lead which gives a better picture and sharpness than standard Scart or leads supplied by Sony originally. You can label or rename your inputs with 4 letter rather than just AV1 etc, so you can have HDMI, PS2, SAT, DVD etc making selecting inputs a lot simpler .The Digital / Freeview tuner has given excellent picture results, using a non digital aerial, just amplified by a powered booster; along with its own built in menu display and favourites menu you can select you own list of favourite channels. Sound wise it's pretty good, but we have it connected to a Teac Stereo, as this just gives a richer sound than the standard TV speakers. Looking forward to trying a PS3 by HDMI sometime to see what it really can do picture wise. All in all this is a great TV, you feel you get your monies worth, with the build quality, feel and look of the TV, and after all it is a Sony. We have a 22 inch LG, which is excellent for the price, but lacks a little as it just seems not in a league of the Bravia's build although it in itself performs excellent as a TV, it just looks cheaper whereas the Bravia is like a piece of quality furniture and an excellent TV all in one. So if you're looking for a great TV you will not be disappointed with this one.

Great buy plasma
Great plasma! sky images are pretty good and most of the time are strong, solid and detailed. Black levels and contrast are very good but I advise a darkened room as the picture seems weaker during strong daylight. HD picture are really good with an almost 3D effect, it sometimes looks as though you are looking out of a window. The sound is not great but ok most of the time. The only downside is the surround that's very shiny, it will scratch even with the provided cloth so I advise a gentle approach. Overall a great plasma at a really good price.

Excellent TV, but no Off button
Bought this TV for my son's room. I was surprised to find that it doesn't have an off switch - to turn it off (as opposed to switching it to standby), you have to switch it off at the socket. My wife tells me that I'm just out of touch, and that this is how the majority of televisions are, but I was disappointed.

Apart from that, it's excellent - good picture, good sound and easy setup.

Hot Off The Press
Just took delivery of this TV.I must be one of the first as most dealers are saying it will still be another month before this TV is widely available. I scoured the land to find one and Amazon must be the first dealer to have received stock!

I am thrilled, I have looked at the LZD85 and the LZD800 is definately worth the extra few pennies. It looks awesome and the additional clear screen, looks, HDMI input and sound enhancements make it worth the wait. I did extensive research before buying this telly and chose it for the picture quality. it as good as any plasma I considered. I wanted no bigger than 37 inch and the market is tight if you want full HD. The picture through Sky+ is fantastic and HD is being installed next week. That will take this screen to a whole new level, but the picture now is better that my previous 100Hz TV, crystal clear with no flickering or shadowing that I have seen on so many rivals. I've got a vcr, Bose DVD entertainment system, Sky+ and Wii hooked up at the moment and there is still room for loads more toys!! And with a photo card slot also included and facility to hook up the PC I don't think I could want any more. This TV looks stunning yet subtle and doesn't take over the room, which keeps my wife happy as she was resistant to a bigger screen size. All in all DON'T buy anything else in this size range unitl you have looked at this, you will only regret it!

Fabulous picture quality and design
After looking to buy a 40" LCD for 18 months, I saw this in the local sony shop. The picture quality is superb both on HD and SD from sky and freeview. It is a much better than the Sony X series that was next to it in the shop. It is also a major step forward in design easily beating other sonys and samsungs and together with a more competitive price for this quality screen and an introductory offer meant I had to buy it. Highly recommend everyone to see this LCD before buying any other

Don't let this pass you by!
As most reviews for Lcd's start with,"when it comes to lcd's I spent too much time looking around for that perfect set", I can add that that statement also applied to me. And yet this one still almost passed me by. Am I glad it didn't! Other TV's have dozens of reviews which seems to imply that many more are overlooking it too.It is for this reason I decided to place my first ever review.
One major reason most people spend eternity deliberating which TV to plumb for appears to be the desire for that flicker free, ghost free image. So how good is this Image? The 100hz does the job. I live in a house with poor signal strength, infact the old freeview needed an amplifyer to make it work. This set I simply plugged into the ariel socket directly and away it went. Within minutes it had found all channels and was ready to go. The image? Steady as a rock, blacks are really black, colours vibrant. The sd signal can show its limitation if you look for it but the freeview digital is pin sharp and the onbourd tv guide simpicity itself. It is the Dvds that impress most. They are beautiful. Why any one should need"upscaling" is beyond me and at 32" I am confident blu-ray could look no better. For the Microsoft 360 I used the 51 pence Fisual HDMI cable (plus £4.00 postage), to be found elsewhere on Amazon. The result is truly astonishing. It also reveals something about the quality of this LCD. Though this TV is Marked HD Ready and therefore the 360 starts out at 720p by default, going into the xbox setup options and selecting 1080p I discovered the screen does infact do 1080p images as well. What definition! In the days of crt tv's I always favoured Sony but in the LCD era at present, Panasonic leads. Why is it this price? On the High Street this sells at £699. My advice don't let this pass you by.
One tip: When watching TV (or most other sources for that matter), try the Eco setting. It changes the brightness acccording to the ambient light automatically, the picture is always just right be it night or day. For your Dvd's try the Movies setting, they have never looked so good.

Stunning - Worth every single penny and more!!

Had one of these from another internet supplier. However, had a fault with one of the scart sockets and they had sold out of item and could not replace so I got my money back and ordered from Amazon.

Picture superb even on SD pictures. Blu Ray is amazing there are no words top describe how fantastic the picture is. Amazing colours and extra crisp picture quality.

Forget the reviews about black levls! This TV black levels to me are excellent and much better than my three year old Toshiba 32" LCD.
The sound is far superior to that of most LCD flat screen TV's and is really excellent all round.

In a nut shell, buy it you will not be dissapointed and it will blow your mind away.

Easy to set up and change picture settings to your liking.

Just buy it!!

Review for Panasonic TH-42PZ85B - 42" Widescreen 1080p Full HD Plasma TV - With Freeview, Viera Link & SD Card slot:
I finally made a choice of a replacement TV
After much agonizing I eventually opted for the Panasonic TH-42PZ85B. I had almost bought a Sony in their 3500 range but backed away when I saw the Freeview quality. My choice was driven by the fact that I use mainly Freeview at present and I must say the results from the Panasonic are better than I hoped for.
The set is well packed but will require two people to fix to separate stand. Be aware that the only cable supplied is the power cable. Remote control is well laid out with large buttons. The electronic guide is easy to navigate and has some welcome features such as allowing to focus on the days program list for a single channel.
I have connected via HDMI cable to a DVD player that can upscale and DVD replay is stunning. Watching sport is a joy because of the clarity even at high motion. I use the set on the normal setting with a slight tweek to brightness. Not even a hint of burn to date.
Only negative is the standby power consumption. So worth switching off when not in use.
I am looking forward to getting FreeSat and getting the very best from the set.
