Great Theory

Although not something that is completely shocking as far as a"horror" would go, but i think the idea behind the plot is a great one. That there's a plan for us all, and when your time's up, your time's up! Unless you cheat death. Very good, and something i enjoy watching. Although not when i'm due to travel anywhere on a plane.

Action packed fun formula predictable

Detective Del Spooner (Will Smith) is not a fan of robots and on the surface looks like he does not believe they are as benign as advertised. The top inventor of the robots Dr. Alfred Lanning (James Cromwell) commits suicide (presumably). He leaves a message that has Spooner assigned to the investigation. Why Spooner?

Spooner gets suspicious and will not leave the suicide lie. Naturally his boss Lt. John Bergin (Chi McBride) says drop it. The head of the robotics firm says drop it. Susan Calvin (Bridget Moynahan) knows he is crazy and says drop it. Even his own mother says drop it.
V.I.K.I. (Fiona Hogan) is mistrustful of Spooner's motives.
So does Spooner finally come to his senses and drop it?
Is he paranoid or are his suspicions founded?

This is definitely a Will Smith vehicle with a few CGI robots thrown in. The title of course came from a Robert Heinlein novel. From here we have all the standard cliché and scenarios as a boss who does not believe the same and kowtows to authority, an obvious bad guy, a girl that puts her foot in everyone mouth, standard red herrings, and much more.

Still this is great fun and Will makes the movie. There are plenty of"action" scenes,"stay in the car" scenes,"shower" scenes,"chase" scenes, and even cliffhangers.

A pretty average film

This is one of those films where the hype was bigger than the actual feature itself.

I saw it at the pictures and the film was such an anti-climax after in-your-face promotions everywhere.

I suppose that what happens though when a film is little more than just a product, and the people who have produced it are desperate to get adverts into every junk food shop going. The music video was burned into everyone's eyes after constantly being pumped out via every TV channel known to man.

The film also seemed to serve as another vehicle to sell the Will Smith brand. He was at the peak of trendyness and everything wanted him. It was designed to be a slick trendy film to complement the slick trendy image. It's a shame really because he is actually a very good actor - but recently he has settled into more creative and demanding roles.

Some nice moments, some funny moments - but it wasn't a rip-roaring hilarious film. It was simply"okay". If it weren't for the massive hype then I might have enjoyed this a bit more.

Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith have a great relationship on screen, and I bet they had a pretty good laugh on set whilst filming too. Their cinematic pairing is the highlight of this film, and it'd be interesting to see other projects with the pair in.

For fans of the film, this DVD will be a great addition to your collection as it contains lots of additional material, although some of it does seem to be more self promotion.

Anyway, I'm off now to get jiggy wid it (oh yeah, I'm a mean street kid, I'm popping a cap in someone's ass as I type this, nowahm sayin'?).

One of the best

One of the funniest films I have ever seen, easily the best Kung-Fu movie around. Great special effects combined with a director who might well be high, and the quirkiness of a chinese film mean that this really is a must-see!

Dissapointed

Movie and clarity excellent, just one major criticism, its in true widescreen, which means black bars across the top and the bottom of the screen and unlike movies which you burn to memory card. You cannot change the view to fill the psp screen.
