Very good vacuum

I have had this vac for years now and it is still great. It's not great for stairs, as the hose doesn't extend easily at all & the vac wants to follow you up/down the stairs, so that is only reason not got 5*'s.
I just wish vax did a good non upright one, as I find them easier to use.

Power assisted steering and great on pet hairs!

If you want an upright cleaner that is good at picking up pet hairs from carpets there doesn't seem to be much choice. Even Which? is very sniffy about them. In fact, this is a fantastic cleaner. I assembled it in minutes and took it for a test drive. Carpets that had been cleaned only the day before yielded a quarter of a dustbag! Oh shame!

I have dogs and horses and, although the horses aren't allowed in the house (!), their hairs come in on my clothes. This cleaner had no difficulty shifting long and short pet hairs off the carpets. Even loose threads which I normally have to bend down and pick up by hand were no problem. It is quite heavy (18lbs, 8.2kg) which made it awkward to carry up the stairs. However, in use, it feels like it has power assisted steering! I am quite tall and often find my back aches after vacuuming. Not today. I even quite enjoyed the job!

The build quality feels good. Obviously I can't comment on the durability or reliability yet.

I have used Dyson and Miele cylinder cleaners in the past. In my opinion this beats them both hands down. It would have been nice to have a floor brush as standard for hard floor but one is available as an optional extra.

Hard work with lots of problems

This vacuum cleaner is unbelievably heavy, it makes vacuuming really hard work, after just doing one room my arm and back are hurting! It does pick up well but while I am vacuuming the cylider constantly falls off spilling the contents of it (dust, dirt etc) onto the floor. The parts of the cylinder then all disassemble everywhere. It takes ages to get these parts back together and put the cylinder back on the cleaner. Then I have to re vacuum the contents of the vacuum cleaner from the floor!
I have taken to using the attachment now due to its heaviness and the fact the cylinder keeps falling off. But the attachment has now cracked and I have it taped together. I have now contacted Morphy Richards directly regarding getting a replacement and I am hoping I'll be able to get a different model. Apart from it's good suction, this vacuum cleaner is the worst model I've ever used and I would strongly advise others to choose another model.

Not sure what to make of it.

It has good suction and strips the top of your carpet pile away. Not sure what the HEPA filter does. We have cats and they are terrified of this vacuum. Perhaps that is what it's for. Gets the animals out of the house while you clean up.
My partner likes the dyson but i have never been a fan. This model just strengthens the feeling.
Find it awkward, still don't like how the crevice attachment sticks out of the end of the handle threatening to poke your eye out. They do actually fit onto the vacuum more securely than the last model but my partner finds them really difficult to pull out. The hose will probably wear in the same place as the last one.
The delivery was excellent.

A fantastic idea - a 2-in-1 hand-held plus stand-up vacuum cleaner

We, like everyone else, own a big vacuum cleaner and also a small hand held one. Then we came across this fantastic 2-in-1 from Electrolux. It is basically a solid rechargeable hand-held unit that is nested in the side of a lightweight standup unit. So standing up, you can wiz around picking up dirt and crumbs with a very maneuverable carpet-cleaner-like head. Then you can detach the small hand-held unit to get at all those odd places. So-basically the stand-up bit is like a big accessory to the hand-held unit. The whole thing then just stands on a base to get re-charged. They claim 18 minutes autonomy, but we have never tested it because we use it for 5-10 minutes and then put it back on its recharging stand. The capacity is limited because it is fixed by the size of the hand-held unit, but it opens and cleans easy, and it has a good cloth filter inside that can be washed. It also has a so-called evacuation lid in the hand-held unit, but we never use it. I have seen them in a nice Cayenne colour and also in a kind of light green colour. The impression in the hand is that it is solid and well made. I can wholehearted recommend this Electrolux unit, it is solidly built and really is a perfect hybrid vacuum cleaner when you don't have, or don't want to get out and unfold, a big vacuum cleaner. We found our one in Spain, but it is not a common item on shop shelves. So buying on the Internet is a great idea, and it comes as 3-4 pieces in a box and takes about 2 minutes to put together.

Let down by one point.

We chose this particular model [after always using uprights] because it is lighter in weight than most of the others; also, with its powerful motor, it promised good suction for dog hairs. The suction is excellent; but it is let down by one thing - a rather short power cable. To clean the stairs, I have to plug in downstairs, clean halfway, then unplug, carry it upstairs, plug in again and finish the top half. I am 65, with a painful hip, and I thought I would only need to carry it upstairs if I wanted to go round the bedrooms. If you have problems like mine, look for something similar with a longer cable.

Great Little Vac :)

I just wanted a small vac that didn't feel like it would break it I bumbed into the wall and this electrolux was just what I was looking for. Without spending loads you get good quality and great suction especially when it is all emptied out. You only get two extra tools with it but is just fine for basic round the house cleaning
I bought it about two months ago and I have not had any over heating problems yet but I will be back to report if I do!

Simply doesn't work

The hose and filters constantly get blocked. The belt keeps snapping causing the roller to stop going round. It therefore spits dust back onto the carpet. I have to do the horrid job of unblocking it. When in use I can see dust coming out of it and escaping from it as I go. When it is turned off it spits a little pile of grit back out. Before this I had a ten year old bagged Panasonic that always did a great job and never needed much maintenance. Electrolux are not helpful on the phone and I now regret buying from a website as it's a pain to return. Don't be tempted.
