A new man in my life

I love the new man in my life. I'm happy to spend time with him, upstairs, downstairs, in the car. He's strong, yet quiet, willing and able. He's also unfussy, no need to empty dust collection devices every other day. He's unpretentious yet obviously highly intelligent. No gadgets or gizmos that break or disillusion. A good listener. The kids love him. And he came with a free beach ball. My husband is concerned.

The best raygun you'll ever buy.

Yes, the battery life may not be enough to do the whole house, averaging around six to eight minutes depending on which revue you read.

Forget that.

This is a fun piece of work from Dyson that looks the business.
It's the styling of this machine that makes it a beautiful object that you don't hide in a cupboard, you display it proudly on a bookshelf. (Well, I do.) It looks like it was inspired by the art work from the early sci-fi paperbacks, and wouldn't look out of place in a holster on the square jawed hero's hip.

Yes, it is expensive for a 'Dustbuster', but if that's all you want then go buy something cheaper, but if you want an eye catching ray-gun that'll suck the life out of an alien (or bugs out of your deep pile carpet) at fifty paces then this is what you purchase.
This is a superb, easy to clean, beautifully designed machine. Did I mention that the front comes off so you can wash it in warm soapy water? DO dry thoroughly, preferably on a radiator, while the motor bit's charging, and you'll maintain that 'just bought' look.

I case you hadn't noticed, this customer is well pleased with his Dyson objet d'art.

great for small flats

this little baby does exactly what it's meant to do - no thrills though; the hoover is small, simple, rather ugly and VERY loud, but it's REALLY powerful (i never use it at more than a halfway power setting) and runs very smoothly. i've just got it so i can't really tell how reliable it is, but i think that electrolux is a brand worth trusting. plus it seems to be rather well-built; a minor problem is the power cord - it's around 10 ft at most, so it might be annoying for people living in larger places;

nevertheless it's great value for money - highly recommended

Great for getting dog hairs out of carpets

This is fantastic for getting the dog hairs (cocker spaniels) from our house carpets. Comes with 2 turbo heads, one large and one small. I used the small one in the car and did a great job.
Also used on cushions to remove hairs and from dog blankets.
Has really long cable so no need to keep unpluging it as you move round the house. Can be tricky on the stairs as heavy to carry whilst using it.
If you have problems with dog hair in the carpets, I cant recommend this enough.

There's no going back!

I don't know how we managed before Roomba. It's the best thing I have ever bought! Ok it's a little more expensive than a traditionl vacuum cleaner but it does it all for you, so lots of extra free time and no arguing about whose turn it is to do the vacuuming - and a lot cheaper than employing a cleaner. I was afraid it wouldn't work that well, my husband thought I was completely bonkers buying it. But we were both very impressed and love it. I schedule it to vacuum while we'e at work and come home to a beautifuuly vacuumed home. If you live in a house rather than a flat, you can clean the ground floor on Mon, second floor on Tues... You can schedule it all in advance, and let Roomba do everything else for you - it knows where to go, it doesn't bump into furniture, it cleans brilliantly and redocks itself to recharge when it has finished. It's amazing. I have been raving about it to friends and colleagues since buying it 4 months ago.

I would defnitely recommend it, and frequently do...!

Pathetic

Let me just list the grievances.

1. Weak suction, even with 'Max' dial setting.
2. Metal extension tube that constantly falls apart.
3. Hose that's shoddily attached to the the tube holder. In my vacuum, it came off after one month.
4. A supercharged cord rewind that can actually injure you.
5. An unstable design: the vacuum keeps falling sideways.

Life is too short to spend it picking up and re-attaching vacuum tube parts; the device is shortly going to trash, and I am buying a Panasonic.

Henry 2nd Cometh

I am a builder and this little fella is an integral part of my setup. My first Henry lasted 3 years but boy did he take some punishment on site! I cannot recommend Henry enough. Robust, reliable and very powerful. If it works on a building site...imagine how it will perform in your home. Buy with absolute confidence!

DITCH THE DYSON

Just received my Henry Micro as a replacement for my Dyson upright (heavy, very little suction when using tools, NOISY, expensive) and I am very impressed. Even on low power Henry has much more suction than the Dyson and on full power lifts the carpet off the floor and will create"stripes" in the pile like a well mowed lawn. The flex is much longer than the Dyson and overall build quality is superb, also it is easy to store being so compact. The lack of on board tool storage is a minor complaint (there is a clip for 1 attachment) and the hose will not reach the full heght of my stairs (longer hoses are cheaply available if reqd) but overall it appears to be an excellent package for an amazingly cheap price. Shop around for the special Micro bags and you can get them for £4 for 5 delivered. I wish i had bought one of these years ago

DYSON DC22 A new bouncing baby from Dyson

Just got it today,
VERY EASY TO USE.

VERY LIGHT WEIGHT its around 5 kilograms but you dont need to hold on to it.
Beautiful design of machine and package, (whom ever packs them must be a mensa genius, you will see why when you buy one).
VERY SMALL dyson design, very cute, and space saving too.
VERY USEFUL and tiny you could carry it in your school/college/kit/gym-bag.
VERY HARD...
VERY QUIET, unbelievably compared to the old models.
Comes with a good range of attachments.
MADE IN MALAYSIA.
It needs VERY LITTLE STORAGE SPACE when not in use.
So there is no need to hide it in a cupboard it really is a work of art, you could put it on DISPLAY AS A SCULPTURE.

Only gripes and they are very minor.
It heats up a lot which is a very nice feature (its something to do with the laws of energy).
And no ON!!! switch on the handle, Mr Dyson if you read this wifi the power button WIFI IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And finally.
I just cant wait for the next installment from Dyson. But for now I'm off to do some Dysoning and put this BABY to the real test a teenager like bedroom eek!!!!!!!!

Top notch

I bought this vacuum on the strength of the review above and a couple of others I found on other webpages. I am very sceptical of reviews, especially effusive ones, and am very hard to please but I have to join in singing the praises of this little beauty.

I opted for the 2200W version and it's powerful and effective on carpets and laminate flooring. It's also light, easily manoeuverable and has all the bits and pieces you'd expect on any vacuum. The difference with this one is that it's obviously been designed by people who actually use a vacuum cleaner.

The telescopic handle is genius and means you don't have to stop cleaning to remove lengths of cumbersome hose and all the other little nozzles tuck away tidily under a flap. There's even a clip to store the hose neatly when not in use so it's not falling about all over the place, something that's never featured on any other pull-along vacuum I've ever known.

All in all, a top vacuum and a reasonable price.

Review by comparison

If you want a cleaner with suction that will lift your carpet this is the one for you. If however, like me, your previous cleaner was a Dyson DC02 I offer the following comparison. This cleaner does not sit on stairs without assistance and does not compensate by stretching to clean a normal set of stairs. The head is not adjustable in height so it is fully out or fully in. Other non attributes are; the head assembly is alike to handling a bazooka and the hose, well, this has a mind of its own. If you are twisting/turning about objects the hose kinks and continually seems to want to curl up like a snake. For me, I made a mistake in"upgrading".

Handy to have around!

I bought this so that my children would be able to vacuum up their mess without having to carry the big cleaner upstairs. It does the small job brilliantly. Personally I wouldn't expect it to do everything, I use mine to clear dust off my desk, to do the stairs, to pick up anything I've dropped on the laminate floor and any other small jobs where it just isn't as easy to go and get the big cleaner.

It sucks up things fairly well, but I don't expect it to get all the dog hairs out as that needs some better suction but it does all the jobs I need it to do.

Nobody wrote a review so I gambled, and I like it. It does the job, come with handy bits, easy to get read of the dust when its full (no more annoying bags), getting a bit hot too quickly, but nothing to be worried about. Generally I am happy.

Great product.......eventually

I bought this product largely based upon reviews from this and other consumer sites, to replace our failing DC08 Animal. We have a border collie and our home is 70% carpeted so hair pickup was essential.

After delivery, I ripped open the box with an eagerness matched only by the anguish my wife as she cried"what are you doing? It may not work you know!". Silly girl. I knew the machine would work. I slid the metal pipes together admiring the satisfying click as each section locked together. I took a step forwards, pushed the on button and....well that's it. Nothing. Convinced of my stupidity rather than poor quality control at Numatic I called customer services who told me my machine was manufactured in September 2006 and that it would have to go back to the supplier. OK. I reassembled the shredded box and back it went.

My replacement arrived only 3 days later and to my wife's horror I rinsed and repeated, assured that I was unlucky last time. To be sure, the machine switched on. All looked good, until I tried the electric floor head. No joy. So, Numatic got another call and I ended up talking to the same charming gentleman I had been speaking to 3 days earlier. Clearly thinking I was either mad or moaning, he told me to get a replacement (again) and HUNG UP!

Three days later and I can report I now have a Henry Hound that works in all departments and it is superb! Cleans far better than the Dyson and I am happy.

In summary, I gave 3 stars because I was third time lucky and the response from Numatic customer services was quite burusqe when I was reporting actual problems. In terms of performance with a working unit however, I cannot even begin to fault. This is a fine machine....when you get a fully operational model that is.

Great for first 12 months!!

I bought this model of Vax brand new off ebay 12 months ago, for a bargain £34.99 plus postage. I was very impressed with the suction power and it really seemed to get the carpets and furniture very clean, the Hepa filter is great when you have a cat and allergies, it lifts the fur from cushions with little effort. Only complaint during use is the heavy weight of the tubing and hoover, but I suppose to make it lightweight would add mega bucks to the cost (titanium hoover anyone?!).

Writing this review now because approx 12months after purchase my Vax has blown a fuse or something! Cleaned it out thoroughly the other day, came to hoover up some cat hair today and it ground to a halt with a horrid burning electrical overheating smell and has now completely died on me. So, I guess £35 odd quid for a years use is pretty good value (glad I didnt pay £100!), but I just wish manufacturers would make stuff to last these days.

Off to look for a new hoover.....

Worth buying.

This is a great little vacuum cleaner.The good points are it's both powerful and quiet in operation.The down side is it's too heavy to do the stairs easily although I may be using the extension incorrectly.I've had Vax products previously and they are very reliable.If your looking for a whole house cleaner buy this one but if it's just a stair cleaner then this is probably a bit too good for that alone.We have the Vax downstairs and the upright upstairs but this alone would be fine apart from it being quite heavy this is probably down to the 2400 motor.All filters clog so that's pretty normal on a device of this type but the emptying of the collection device couldnt be simpler.Press the catch and the bottom opens to drop the waste in a bag or whatever.The tools that come with it are all useful.

Overall I would recommend this product although it was at the top of my price range.
