WOW!!

OK, after countless dyson breakages I decided to go for something a little more basic yet reliable. The Sebo does this. My appartment is a mixture of hard wood floors and deep pile rugs but the sebo goes from one to the other in a second. You don't have to turn the machine off or press any buttons to switch from carpet to bare floor. It is incredibly lightwieght and surprisingly quiet. It can handle anything from cat hairs (i have 3 cats) to plaster dust and dried mud. Basically, this vacuum or it's upright equivelant are not only cheaper than Dyson's but actually better cleaners - and they don't loose suction. Buy one!

Does the job alright, but know its limitations.

We've all known dustbusters since at least the 1980's. Wall-mounted cordless things that look a little like a spaceship, useful for sucking up crumbs and pet hair. What more do you need to know?

Well I would suggest that you should know exactly what the dustbuster is and is not capable of. First of all, despite the revolution of microchips, laser beams, genetic engineering etc. of the 21st century, the design of the dustbuster remains essentially unchanged.

This model features a"cyclone" as spotted on Dyson hoovers and the like but I certainly don't notice any incredible gain in suction as a result of this. If you're expecting it to have the same suction as your plug-in vaccum cleaner, you will be disappointed. Where the dustbuster functions best is crumbs, dust, cat litter, that kind of thing.

Yes it can pick up cat hair from the sofa but in my experience with the hair generated by two short haired cats you need to have the brush attachment on to do this and it involves a bit of elbow work. Really it's the brush doing most of the effort, the suction bit just disposes of the hair when you manually pluck it. Now for me this is still less hassle than getting the hoover out, plugging in the hose, putting the right nozzle on, hoovering, and then putting it all away again. The dustbuster encourages me to clean less, but more frequently.

This model is the highest voltage of those available, you certainly wouldn't want anything less as it doesn't feel all that powerful.

The best vacuum EVER

I have an old red Henry that I used in my kennels, I bought it 21 years ago and it`s still going strong, I use it in the garage now.
I`ve since tried every vacuum cleaner that you can think of.
I have laminate flooring in the whole of the downstairs, a large area, with a large rug in the middle. When I saw this vacuum I thought it would be great as I liked to use an upright on the rug and this one has powered head. Well I wasn`t disappointed. I can plug it in and do the whole floor without having to change sockets, the suction is brilliant on the hard floor and it just about lifts the rug of the floor. It`s also very easy to use, pulls along nicely. If you purchase this vacuum you won`t be dissapointed.

Cat hairs gone!!!

Hetty arrived yesterday after my 5 year old Dyson broke down for the third time, this time just outside of the warranty period. I looked on various websites for advice on which machine to buy next I wanted a bagless machine although on reading the reviews here on Amazon for the Henry model (Same spec as Hetty but just a different colour) I decided that a Hetty was the answer being a pink person!! You dont even have to use a bag with the machine although I have managed to find a firm who sell a cotton re-useable version of the bag which unzips so you can empty it into the bin outside.

I ordered the Hetty extra which comes with the Ariobrush as an extra as I have 2 cats and was worried that it may not pick up all of the hairs. In addition to this you still get the standard brush. I need not have worried though as the standard brush was brilliant. I went round the house in half of my usual time and it picked up the cat hairs with ease. I needed to use the Ariobrush in couple of areas mainly where the cats sleep at night. The machine is so powerful that you can see the carpet being lifted although dont worry as it has a high and a low speed so you can use the low speed aroung the edges.

The flex is so long I was able to clean the whole house from one plug and Hetty is so light and easy to carry up and down the stairs. The wooden floors in the kitchen area were easy to clean as the standard brush can be altered between being able to clean carpets and hard surfaces. In all this is a brilliant machine and looks great in pink as well if pink is your thing! All of this for a fraction of the price that I paid for the Dyson a real bargain.

What a waste of money....

This is by far the worst vacuum cleaner I have ever owned. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone. It isnt up to the job, and although it seems powerful with an advertised 2400w, in reality, I can do a better job with my broom. I decided on this Vax model as I needed something to hoover up pet hair on the kitchen floor daily, but this is barely upto the job. I wouldnt dream of introducing it to a carpet. What a waste of time that would be if it can't cope with flat limestone tiles. I wouldnt suggest that anyone buy one. There must be better alternatives on the market, and I am now looking to replace mine after only 7 months.

Great for first 12 months!!

I bought this model of Vax brand new off ebay 12 months ago, for a bargain £34.99 plus postage. I was very impressed with the suction power and it really seemed to get the carpets and furniture very clean, the Hepa filter is great when you have a cat and allergies, it lifts the fur from cushions with little effort. Only complaint during use is the heavy weight of the tubing and hoover, but I suppose to make it lightweight would add mega bucks to the cost (titanium hoover anyone?!).

Writing this review now because approx 12months after purchase my Vax has blown a fuse or something! Cleaned it out thoroughly the other day, came to hoover up some cat hair today and it ground to a halt with a horrid burning electrical overheating smell and has now completely died on me. So, I guess £35 odd quid for a years use is pretty good value (glad I didnt pay £100!), but I just wish manufacturers would make stuff to last these days.

Off to look for a new hoover.....

Good at it's job but

I bought this item from a mail order catalogue and am not satisfied with it. It does pick up well but the tools do not stay on the holder on the tube so keep falling off and the switch is not able to be foot operated. It is not a push down on off switch as in the description but one that has to be twisted to be turned on - as in some radios. The tubes feel cheap too, although the machine itself is sturdy enough. I wouldn't buy it again and am, at present, trying to get it returned. It isn't satisfactory in it's entirety. There are alot better vacuum cleaners for the money.

Rubbish - do not buy this hoover!

I bought this hoover a couple of months ago. I chose it because it was light and compact and had a reasonably high suction rating. At first I was pleased with it, but once the dust container had become full for the first time and I had tried (unsuccessfully) to remove the filter, I had to clean the filter in situ with a toothbrush and it no longer seemed to be picking up as well as it had before. Unfortunately, although it would suck up biscuit crumbs, it left cotton and cat hairs on the carpets. I have now given up and bought a Dyson which works beautifully (so far).

don't don't don't!

cannot tell you how useless this cleaner is! worked well for a week then the filter kept clogging and therefore didn't pick up at all. contacted russell hobbs direct who didn't sound suprised and they sent me a replacement filter. all well and good for a week then the same problem all over again! and the noise it makes is incredibly loud, like a jet engine. have now returned the item and ordered an electrolux instead. please do not waste your money or time by ordering this cleaner!

This hoover is a complete joke, BE WARNED, It has a tiny internal filter that becomes blocked in seconds, the dirt recepticle is empty, but all suction is lost. This means you have to stop and de-clog every 30 seconds. Avoid at all costs
