Love my little Dyson!

Great handheld and does an amazing job! Lasts 6 mins which is great for a handheld and I have only ran out of power once in 4 months when I tried to do the whole room with it! My only quibble, and it is a small one, is that every now and then when I place it back in its stand to charge the contacts do not connect and thus it does not get charged. But having said that there is a light that comes on when it is charging so now that I watch for it I have not been left short of late.

Dyson DC16 handheld cleaner is the best in the world.

This little machine is amazing. I fell in love with it straight out the box. Smaller and lighter than it looks in the photos on Amazon (in fact on any webpage- where size is hard to scale) it came with a 30second charge that I immediately took advantage of. Then I charged it for the required 3 hours, delighting in watching the progression of lights as the charge reached full (easily pleased), and how refreshing not to have to charge it overnight or for 8 hours+ like so many other battery powered appliances and gadgets need for their first use.

It feels great in the hand, and as I said before, is lighter than I expected. You have to keep the trigger pressed to vacuum, which isn't as annoying as it sounds as it's well placed and responsive and the handle feels really comfortable.

You'll read a lot about the poor battery life. Work out how you want to use this cleaner and whether that'll be a problem for you. For me it's not. Let's face it you'll never try and hoover all the floors with this, it's perfect for 'dust-busting'. The fact that it's bagless is also a big selling point for me. Let's face it, hoover bags are never cheap, and the bag chambers on regular vacuum cleaners always quickly build up dirt and dust. Great just to hold this Dyson over a bin and release the collection chamber to empty it.

Buying this I've realised that Dyson is one of our few quality companies left. Buy this, you will love it. If you don't then return it!

Great Vac - Terrible Retailer

I tried to buy one of these. Despite saying they were in stock, I heard nothing and the due delivery date passed and so I rang them. The man who answered the phone couldn't have cared less. He said they had some on order, didn't know when they'd arrive but I'd probably get it in a few days. When I asked why they hadn't let me know, he said it was my job (as the customer) to chase up deliveries not his!

I decided to wait, but then received an apology from Amazon for the delay and said I could email them with comments. I did, saying that I would be leaving quite specific feedback!

And guess what? Yeomans have cancelled my order. They still show these as in stock and are accepting orders! So now we know how they manage to get such high feedback ratings.

No replacement parts available

While this worked it actually did quite a good job, even though it was VERY noisy.
The belt failed after 3 months and DirtDevil in the UK (also known as Pulse Home Products Ltd on 0870 873 0081) are not able to supply a replacement. There advice is to return it to the supplier and get my money back.
None of the other online parts suppliers are able to provide a belt either (as they do not recognize the model number).
My advice has to be to avoid this vacuum cleaner and save yourself time and money!

Clean handheld vacuum cleaner

The item works fine, it also has a booster button for extra suction power. The use time at about 20 minutes is sufficient for most uses around the home. The air coming out of the machine is also cleaner than other handheld cleaners (which may be a plus for people sensitive to dust).

On the minus side, the item is heavier than models from other manufacturers. The carpet attachment also does not seem to be very efficient (although it works, it is just a bit rough).

Overall I am happy to use it, but the 3 starts are because of the shortcomings mentioned above.

Fabulous!

What a fabulous household gadget: 2 in 1 cleaner, super light weight, cordless, quick recharge and it gets into all those awkward places around/under the furniture. It also picks up pet hair no problem, so it's very handy when guests are coming around and the sofas need a quick defuzzing! I found that it is very useful for doing stairs too. I think every home should have one, especially if you have hard floors. Go on, make life a little easier, buy one.

A good vacuum cleaner and excellent value for money

I’ve had the vacuum cleaner just over two months. So far so good - no problems at all. It is certainly a bit on the noisy side, but I’ve soon got used to it. It has very powerful suction and the whole thing seems well-built and good quality. In my opinion it compares favourably with Dyson. I had an early Dyson and the build-quality was dreadful. The base-plate cracked within a year (as did my daughter’s) and I was forever taking it to pieces to unblock it. The Vax looks a simpler, and sturdier proposition. At this price you really can’t go wrong.

Electrolux Z360

This cleaner does a reasonable job - BUT the On Switch needs a very firm push, and enough strength in the thumb to maintain the pressure on the switch for as long as you want steam. This makes it very difficult to operate for anyone older - I can only use it for a minute or two at a time, and that is obviously a major snag. Test your strength before you buy!
