Poor

Disappointing release this. It's not possible to exclude specific unscannable files or folders. The code runs on Intel Macs, but only in PowerPC emulation - so it's slow. Also, it hangs when you scan a well-known Nessus test file that's been around for a year or two. Finally their customer support web site seems buggy (the confirmation emails are slow to arrive, don't summarize the info you submitted, and don't quote the case number in the subject line). All in all, pretty incompetent. Avoid!

Intego VirusBarrier 4 seems to get good reviews, and users say good things about it, so may be worth a try.

Awful customer service

Do not buy this product. I bought this Norton Upgrade in April 2007 but couldn't use it on my PC so asked for a refund. I could only get through to customer services with enormous difficulty, waiting up to 10-15 minutes to speak to someone. I called them four or five times, the problem was never resolved and I'm still waiting (September 2007) for my refund which I suspect will never arrive. The web site is poor, the product never worked and they have effectively stolen my money. There are much better products out there.

This product hurt my computer

I bought this product and successfully installed it on my wife's laptop.

Having uninstalled Internet Security 2004 from my desktop PC, using the recommended Norton uninstaller tool in addition to the Windows Control Panel route, I attempted to load the replacement from CD ROM. Installation is currently"Hanging" with a message that"configuration is incomplete" and this despite several attempts to load.

This is inconvenient, but more importantly the installation attempt appears to have disabled many of my shortcut icons e.g. System Restore; Search;Windows Help & support; and connection to/ from my HP all in one scanner.

I have emailed Symantec and Microsoft for help but to date have heard nothing from either organisation

Excellent support

A 3 year subscription to Bullguard came bundled with a new PC I purchased earlier this year - I was a little sceptical as to the whether this would protect me as I've never heard of the brand before.

However, I've since heard many excellent reviews of the product and recently had a problem with the firewall refusing to operate. I contacted their online support and was connected within seconds to an agent who was extremely helpful and guided me through to process to rectify this.

On doing a full virus scan later the same day, the scan picked up a virus that couldn't be disinfected or quarantined. I contacted support for assistance and didn't get an online reply immediately so sent an e-mail instead. This was replied to within 8 minutes with full instructions on how to safely remove the infected file.

I recall having a similar problem a good few months back and the speed of the reply impressed me again at the time.

My only complaint about this product is the frequency of the pop-ups and warnings advising that an attack has been detected and blocked but feel this is only a minor inconvenience given the seemingly effectiveness of the firewall and anti-virus scan.

Extremely easy to use and the support is both fast and effective - thoroughly recommend this product, particularly for novice users as you are guided through each process easily with the option for immediate support if required.

Excellent piece of software

I've found this piece of software nothing but excellent. Easy to use, excellent functionality and very easy (and relatively cheap) to update with new virus definitions. I highly recommend this to anyone.

I installed this on my computer and problems occurred and doesn't slow my computer a must to buy just try it.

Keep your computer free from viruses with McAfee VirusScan 2005. Verdict: good.

Simple, solid protection!

This anti-virus software is very simple to use and has a brilliant user interface. It updaes on average every day so that you are protected against new threats. The only thing that does not make it perfect is that is does not come with a firewall, so I had to buy another one, but other than that its great. ****
