Does what it is designed for...very satisfied

Reading the reviews I was somewhat reluctant to believe this machine would give me the results I had hoped for. But was I surprised! I was more than satisfied with the end result and had no problems with anything. It is easy to use and manoeuvre.The carpets came up clean though not like a new carpet but then I would not expect that. I would recommend this to anyone.

Brilliant! Confused by the bad reviews.

I have three dogs, and I bought this as I have to clean my tiled kitchen floor at least three times a day, and worry about pet smells (one dog is a bit old and sometimes piddles.) I found this steam mop to be perfect. My floor dries in seconds, by the time I have moved to the other side of the kitchen the tiles and grout are bone dry. It gets rid of the ingrained dirt in the grout, leaving it the original pale grey. The steam sterilises everything it comes in contact with. You can still move the mop when the blue light is on - and I only go slowly over particularly dirty areas. I like this so much I have bought two - one for our holiday home. But do your self a favour and buy the pads from eBay :) The blue ones are far more absorbent and MUCH cheaper....£5.99 for three.

Excellent value for money !

Excellent carpet washer, first used with just water to try it out on a cream carpet in the hallway. This machine picked so much dirt up and brought the carpet out like new.

The tools are excellent, all what is needed and easy to assemble.

The machine is quite expensive, but you do get 6year guarantee to if it breaks down, it will be replaced no problem.

Overall excellent buy, very pleased. Ideal if you have pets and children.

I bought this as my doggie had made my carpet filthy and I didn't want to go to the huge expensive of hiring floor cleaners to come and clean my carpets.

The Vax really does the job and has brought the carpets up brilliantly.

It has an efficient drying system so carpets are dry overnight pretty much.
It lifts out all hair and dirt.

I would highly recommend this to anyone. Brilliant.

Disappointing performance.

We ordered this machine based on other reviews believing that the people who had problems with suction were exagerating - they were not!
We've only been able use it once in an attempt to clean the living room carpet. It appeared to work properly with the first tank of clean water/detergent being vacuumed up into the dirty water tank. After emptying, the machine would no longer suck up the dirty water unless we held (forced) the head hard onto the carpet. This is totally impractical. There didn't appear to be anything obviously wrong - it just didn't work any more and we've been left with a soggy carpet.
Vax Customer Services suggested that we take it to a local agent for checking but did concede that there appeared to be a fault.
Amazon have been brilliant - they have arranged for it to be collected and the cost refunded.

Having finally returned to the uprights & searching the web, reading the reviews,I can honestly say this is value for money. The assembly was simple to understand, the pictures helped & only needing 3 screws in all to put together. It sucks up well, including cat hairs. The cord is long enough to do all the rooms in my upstairs 3 bed maisonette, however, one can get tangled somewhat & caution not to let it near the turbo brushes for fear of ! ! ! . I found that by looping it twice around the handle underneath your hand will keep it from getting caught up.The slight downside is that it does not have an adjustment for surfaces, so the thicker carpets need more strength to push it around, but it brings them up as new. In using the attachments this can be awkward in detaching the nozzle from the main frame & onto the extension, but as it vacs up along the edges of the carpets/skirtings, there is not much need to use handheld extension nozzle, unless for a specific purpose. It is light & easy to move & stores away neatly. A very satisfied customer indeed.

Spot On!

I got this for my car to do the seats. And the filth that came of them was just disgusting! They didnt look that bad but wow was i wrong. The vax is just a great little thing. TOP MARKS!!!!

Absolutely delighted

I was loathe to believe that all the previous glowing reviews could be true, but I bought this item on the strength of them! How true they were. Stains that I thought were going to be with me forever have become distant memories. Easy to put together and easy to store. No complaints.

Broke down within 18 months - Vax not interested

We bought this on account of good Amazon reviews to replace a duff Dyson (2nd duff Dyson we have owned I am afraid to say). Unfortunately from day one my wife and daughter both complained about it being difficult to manouvre - seems to me that the small rear castor design is to blame. The machine has now packed up completely after just 18 months - my wife complained of a burning smell and poor pick-up. Seems that the roller brush rotates on an inner metal bearing rod - this has seized, causing the belt to burn and the roller brush to stop rotating. Vax is only willing to sell me the new parts despite this clearly being a manufacturing or design fault - clearly they are not concerned about their reputation, so they deserve this unflattering review!

Think carefully about buying this model!

Great Bissell Product

This was bought at a great price, which has now been increased by some 100%. Shame Amazon ignored my request to deliver when I was not in Nice on holiday, even tho` I gave them the dates!! The product does just what it says on the box; it is easy to put together and to use. HAve just tried it out on two absolutely filthy rugs, which came up like new. EAsy to use, not too noisy, but it is fairly heavy. Instructions are clear and concise and easy to follow. Looking forward to doing all our carpets, which should be child`s play after those awful rugs.

George 3 in 1 cylinder cleaner

This is an excellent wet and dry cleaner. It has been around for many years. I have recently bought a replacement, after 12 years of trouble free service from the last one.

The machine is noisy but the suction is consistent and powerful, whether in Wet or Dry use.

Cheaper to purchase than to hire,recommended.

We needed our carpts cleaning and intended to hire a carpet cleaner until we were quoted £45 for 48 hours + £10 for cleaning fluid + a hefty deposit.For the cost of purchasing a Vax and using it three times,it was more sensible to purchase one,which is what we did.The Vax requires some minor assembly when you first remove it from the box,clipping the parts together and fitting some screws,it all takes less than 5 minutes.You use one capful of the cleaning solution to a tankful of water.This water tank sits on the upright handle of the cleaner.As you push the cleaner you pull a lever on the handle which releases the cleaning fluid down to the cleaning head.The dirty water is then sucked up and deposited in the tank situauted above the wheels of the cleaner.As a rule of thumb,it uses one tank of water for every average sized room carpet you clean so it's economical.Both water tanks clip in and are a doddle to remove and refit.We cleaned three carpets within an hour of opening the box and were pleased with the results.Recommended to all who need a carpet cleaner at a reasonable price.

The best vacuum EVER

I have an old red Henry that I used in my kennels, I bought it 21 years ago and it`s still going strong, I use it in the garage now.
I`ve since tried every vacuum cleaner that you can think of.
I have laminate flooring in the whole of the downstairs, a large area, with a large rug in the middle. When I saw this vacuum I thought it would be great as I liked to use an upright on the rug and this one has powered head. Well I wasn`t disappointed. I can plug it in and do the whole floor without having to change sockets, the suction is brilliant on the hard floor and it just about lifts the rug of the floor. It`s also very easy to use, pulls along nicely. If you purchase this vacuum you won`t be dissapointed.

nice cleaner- shame about the build quality

I decided to buy this cleaner after my previous vac packed up. Probably due to the masses of dog hair that my house contains!
So, I decided to pay the extra and get an all singing an dancing PET VAC.
I have been overall pleased with the purchase, but some areas have given dissappointment.
the fantastic turbo tool is an absolute wizz at picking up the dog hair, i used it on the stairs and i couldn't believe the actual colour of the carpet under the hue of the dog hair. my joy was short lived however, the design of the head means that friction will burn the flimsy plastic sprockets on the drivebelt system. It lasted approximately an hour of total use.
Nevermind, I'll use the cleaner function to give the carpets a good clean!
well, my intentions were good. I'd not long had a new puppy and the inevitable accident had occured. spot cleaning had left"clean patches" on th carpets so i thought i'd give the wash function a go. takes about 10 minutes to swap all the gubbins over to wet function. Don't forget that after you've finished, you need to let all the hoses dry out so that dust from dry vacuuming doesn't clog the pipes!
Nevermind, it might be a bind but the end results will be worth it.
Guess again, after going over the carpets 4 times you couldn't tell i'd touched it. My only option was to hire a rug doctor to finish what I'd started.
on the plus side, the bag is huge and rarely needs changing.
Overall, as a 3-in-1 machine it is POOR, as a vac it is good - does the job of a vac a quarter of the price!

Great for first 12 months!!

I bought this model of Vax brand new off ebay 12 months ago, for a bargain £34.99 plus postage. I was very impressed with the suction power and it really seemed to get the carpets and furniture very clean, the Hepa filter is great when you have a cat and allergies, it lifts the fur from cushions with little effort. Only complaint during use is the heavy weight of the tubing and hoover, but I suppose to make it lightweight would add mega bucks to the cost (titanium hoover anyone?!).

Writing this review now because approx 12months after purchase my Vax has blown a fuse or something! Cleaned it out thoroughly the other day, came to hoover up some cat hair today and it ground to a halt with a horrid burning electrical overheating smell and has now completely died on me. So, I guess £35 odd quid for a years use is pretty good value (glad I didnt pay £100!), but I just wish manufacturers would make stuff to last these days.

Off to look for a new hoover.....
