Very nice filter system. Looks the part too.

I wanted a water filter for my posh coffee machine. I live in a hard water area and was fed up with descaling the beast, so opted for a Britas unit.

I was originally going to get one of the XL units, but I am glad I didn't. With this unit I can fill it and have filtered water in under a minute. If I had a larger unit, I would only end up leaving half the water in the jug. As the coffee machine prefers freshly drawn water this would just be a waste. I guess if you had a huge family then the XL would be better. But I was more than satisfied with this.

This unit should fit in most fridges too.

Really Pleased

Very pleased, I've had this a month now, i don't have to keep washing limescale out anymore. The drinks taste better and the indicator counts down by the week and not by the amount of times you open the lid. This is much better as you can fill it to the mimimum level as often as you want without thinking the filter indicator will recommend a change too early.

Whats really good is that you can start boiling the kettle straight away (I wait till it reaches the mimum level) without having to wait for all the water to filter through first. It filters through very quickly so there is no standing around waiting before you switch it on, like you have to do with some other kettles. Healthy & Useful - Result!

Bought this after worrying like all new parents about losing vitamins that the new baby should be consuming... Does what it says on the tin really - works well, washes well, doesn't fall apart etc.

Although the filters for this are more expensive than the original Brita models, this kettle is lighter, filters the water much faster and holds more.

I have been disappointed with a string of kettles but love this one. It even acts as a"night light" in the kitchen if you want it to...

Useless

Bought these in a twin pack and gave them a go. I actually *heard* the mouse come out in the late evening, heard it enter the trap...and then some rattling about. When I checked, the mouse was scurrying away. The trap had closed, but the mouse was not inside. Judging by the mechanism I would suggest that the door doesn't close fully, thus allowing the mouse to push its way out. Total waste of time and money.

Thanks for the warning Walrus, I was going to buy these batteries but I think the postal charges trick really stinks. The total price even with the postage was still reasonabe when buying the multipack but I just found the whole thing unpalatable and sneaky so I didn't buy.

Great product

We have had this for about a month now. Great jug - water filters through fast, the jug fits in the fridge perfectly, nice pourer, sturdy and perfectly sized - any larger capacity and it would be too heavy for me when full. The water tastes great - I remember the old original Brita filter we had making the water taste horrid with a tinge of carbon, but the new filters make a HUGE difference, the water now tastes lovely.

It works, and looks good

We decided to try and reduce our plastic waste, stop drinking bottled water, and invested in this jug instead. Some people will argue that bottled water is no different to tap water, but I disagree. I know tap water is perfectly safe, but it tastes horrible here in the Midlands. I grew up just thinking I didn't like water, but since I tasted bottled water I drink pints of the stuff. The results from this jug are *almost* as good - it certainly makes our tap water more than pleasant enough for me to drink. And to top it off, the black/silver colours are an EXACT match with our Morphy Richards Perfection kettle so it looks good in the kitchen too. The ingenious filling method means the jug is always covered so no dust/flies etc. can get in, and the water passes through very quickly so even if the last person didn't fill it up again, you aren't left hanging around for 5 minutes waiting for the filter to do its thing.

When our jug arrived, the little electronic timer/reminder thing in the handle which reminds you to change the filter every 4 weeks didn't work, but a quick email to Brita brought a new timer in the post in a couple of days, free of course.

Just to add the rubber feet at the bottom make it much better when placing on a work top.

Unfortunately shelling out for a more expensive kettle delivers nothing extra in terms of function or reliability with this kettle. I also have a model with a lid that pops up mid boil or during pouring such that you get a nice blast of scalding steam on your hand when you least expect it. I barely got 6 months use out of it before it started doing this.
