cause of so many problems

loaded the camera with the recomended update and couldn't get my homepage to load or windows update also windows live messenger, other sites were slow to load vista showed that something from Norton was installed on the PC, but not unless it came with the camera. I asked on a couple of forums and searched but nothing was found that could help the only way I could cure the problem was to reinstall windows vista maybe when vista has been around for a while it will work but until then I am left with a piece of junk.

I just bought it and I struggled to have it up and running.
The provided drivers are not the correct one so you need to search through their forum the appropriate drivers... Sometimes the webcam just disconnect from your computer or is not recognized anymore by your system.

I am quite lucky to be an IT engineer and understand how a computer works I do not want to imagine how painful it could be for a non-literate person...

Well user-friendly is just not what defines this webcam.

Caveat Emptor

If anyone from Logitech reads this perhaps they would like to tell me where to send the bill for 6.5 hours so far in dealing with crashed or frozen PCs because of the apparent known bugs in the drivers delivered with the webcam.

I am deeply saddened because Logitech was a brand I trusted.......no more. It's a disgrace in this day and age that products should be released with so many problems.

I am sure it works very well when it can eventually be installed without causing conflicts with other, very standard, programmes.

I am singularly unimpressed.

Amazon forces me to give it one star when in fact it deserves none.

Excellent

This is a yet another excellent product out of the Creative webcam series of peripherals for laptop/desktop. With it's included-in-the-box headset, the small size, accurate lense (with fix-on roller) and the carrying case it's a very sharp and useful webcam for any laptop user who's on the run or wants a discreet and not to much takin-place web cam.

Looks great - does not work like it should

OK - a couple of things everyone should know about this camera:

Unbelievable as it sounds, this camera does not have autofocus. Still photos taken with the camera will not exceed the quality of a poor camera phone. On a recent trip to Paris I test drove the camera and had to delete all the still photos that I had taken as at least 1/3 of each still was out of focus.

The video is not much better - panning across a scene results in jerky grainy footage with colours and detail blurring as the picture moves.

I wasn't hoping for much from this camera due to its price but it does not even match a very cheap 'conventional' digital camera on stills or video.

Save your money.

Quality in a simple and sleek design, very mobile and handy

I agree with the previous reviewer. It is small and simple, very handy for a mobile laptop user, which I am.

# It has a still photo capture feature which takes pictures of 800x600 pixel dimensions.
# Doesn't have loads of software -- just the driver, and a Philips"VLounge" software to use it as a camera for capturing movies and stills.
# Plugs into the laptop and stays intact
# The cord is 30 cms (12 inches) long. May be inconvenient for PC users, but a USB extension cord can do the trick.
# Cord is rigid enough to stand on its own, can be bent into shapes like a pole or a stand.
# The light can be turned on or off physically by sliding the cover.
# Light is handy while typing in dark conditions; the pictures and videos are grainy though.
# It works with Yahoo! Messenger and Skype, haven't been able to test with other software yet.

Positives:
+ Very handy for a mobile laptop users
+ Doesn't take up much space and can be slid in anywhere in the laptop bag.
+ The cover protects the camera and the light. Also acts as a switch to turn them off.

Negatives:
- The chord should have been longer.
- It should have been cheaper by 5 pounds.

Extra costs:
# If you need a longer cord, or the USB port is far away from your monitor, you will need a USB extension cord. This can cost from 1 to 3 pounds.

Logitec Webcam

The best webcam I have used so far. Sound and image quality very good for a webcam of this price.
