Review for Mirror's Edge (Xbox 360):
Another one EDGE got wrong
So nice to not have to shoot everything for once.
This game has been slightly over hyped so to bring it back to earth...
Cut scenes awful even if they are a cover for loading. When you briefly get guns the aiming is twitchy. Its not open/sandbox as it might have been portrayed. Paths are linear with only a few local options for different routes. Never really get a chance to get a long fast run. Combat and disarming are weak. Push the button objectives, loading elevators, crawling in ducts are all a bit old school. You will fall off buildings and die hundreds of times...
...actually dying is fine as plenty of well placed checkpoints and reload is quick and you get to have another crack at that impossible looking run and jump, core game play mechanics are so solid and enjoyable. Once the well designed controls become second nature and you learn the rules of the game it's exhilarating and atmospheric. Check the demo to see if you will enjoy. Very much looking forward to the next one more than any other game out. Remember this is the first game in a new IP , always going to be difficult but it has passed the test so should have more budget and be able to increase the scope for the next one. Can't wait. I really recommend if you are tired of shooting things.

Review for Tomb Raider Underworld (Xbox 360):
Pretty good but could have been better.
I must admit I was a bit unsure about this game when I heard it was being released. I loved 'Anniversary' but not so much 'Legend'. This one falls in the middle for me. The graphics are a definite improvement. Lara looks great and the levels themselves are impressive in places.

My main gripe though is that there is not significant developement from the previous games. The extra moves, slightly improved combat are welcome but don't really distinguish it that much.

It is also quite short, you can complete some of the levels very quickly, which was also a problem with 'Legend'. I have played some excellent XBOX 360 games recently, which do the console justice, but this one feels distinctly average.

That being said it is still fun to play, if somewhat limited, and Tomb Raider fans should enjoy it. However due to the quick completion time I would definitely advise renting it, not shelling out £30 - £40.

Review for Xbox 360 Elite Console (120 GB Hard Drive):
Xbox 360 Elite Console
Had this Elite for about a month now... moved over from the PS3.Hard drive is fantastic (120GIG), more than enough room to play with for downloading game demos and movies etc from the Xbox Live Network. HDMI audio/Video output is a must nowadays, pixel perfect images almost real! The Controller (wireless) included has a nice feel to it, although it does come with 2 AA Batteries I would recommend purchasing the official Charge and play kit, will save you in the long run. Included headset is ok.. not the best quality in the world but does the job :)Another plus point regarding the 120GB Hard-drive is we are shortly due a major update on the Xbox 360 (Mid November 08), this new update will allow the installation of your games on the Hard drive... which inturn solves my biggest gripe with the xbox...NOISY DVD ROM DRIVE! so no more constant accessing from the drive!! Hooray!! - Game disc is only required once each play.... just to check you own the original.Graphics in my humble opinion are on par with the PS3, and that's a good thing... so if your thinking of jumping ship towards the Xbox from the PS3.... then do it! you wont regret it.... there is a much wider range of games and they are cheaper too, granted the PS3 network is free, the Xbox 360 network costs between £26 - £40 a year for the gold membership, but there is just so so much more with microsoft.... movies, trailers and thousands of playable demos.

Whilst on the subject of online gaming ... having previously owned the PS3 and thus able to compare the two machines, The 360's online system is far superior to Sony's effort, not so many glitches and lock-ups, and the audio/speaking feature (Headsets) is much clearer.

Well worth the purchase.

Review for Xbox 360 Wireless Gamepad:
Cheap Plastic - One more disappointed gamer
I've purchased the 60GB XBOX 360 today, mainly because of the exclusive games like DOA4 and HALO3 that aren't available for my PS3.

Since long ago I've been waiting to finally purchase this console and now that the RROD issue is fixed I've thought this was the right time. Actually not everything is OK, since the new controller was a major let down! This controller is a piece of cheap plastic and the d-pad is totally unreliable. The original XBOX controller S was way better than this one. There is also the huge noise that comes out of the box when a disc is inserted, and believe me when I say that it can cause a headache.

The quality of the product is very bad! Overall, regarding hardware quality, I think that the PS3 and the SIX-AXIS controller are in a much higher league. I am one more disappointed gamer regarding Microsoft's poor product quality.

Review for Dead Space (Xbox 360):
Limb Cutting is fun!
I have been waiting for a while for Dead Space to come out. I had been watching alot of the xbox live content for the game i found it very enjoyable to watch. It is a typical survival horror which pays a nod to the resident evil series, especially number 4.

You see Survival Horror games do tend to be very similar to one another and dead space is no exception, however i believe that regarldess of that, you should speak as you find.

I would like to begin with the sheer beauty (if you can call ripping limbs off) of the game, visually stunning, atmospheric levels, awesome sound effects that do not sound cheesy and quite a terrifying experience. I like to play games that make me think, allow me time to slowly walk around and take in all the grandeur, whilst expecting the worst kind of badness to jump out and get me. If you are looking for a simple run around, pick stuff up and shoot, this is not the game for you. You need patience. Its like looking at a painting. Take your time.

It is not a very big game. 12 chapters on easy mode will on your first run through probably take you at least 5-7 hours. At leats it did with me and immediatly i became frustarted that i completed it that quickly. BUT this game is to be truly enjoyed on the impossible difficulty setting. This is why i love the game as you can creep around and take your time, planning your move. It also makes you appreciate the materials you have at hand. Use Kinese's you obliterate creatures with fuel cans. Ammo is used up more and weapons will definately need upgrading through out the course of the game, as will your armour. As i say these are the stalewarts of modern survial horror, upgrades, conserving ammo, terror. You get the picture.

Ultimatley this is a very good game, great infact. Wit the extra downloadable content such as suits and weapons, it does have a draw on you.

I do have a few criticism though. This may just be my experience of it but when you pause the game for a few minutes and then continue, it does have the tendancy to crash which can be frustrating. I have heard a few people say that it can be too dark in certain areas but thats the whole point! Your in space, very few lights! My final small jab at this great title is it slightly short and can be repetive when you have already visited an area. Certain chapters will bring you back to places you have already been, which is fine as you are an engineer running around the ship trying to repair it, but some areas could had of expanded out a little.

I recommend that you try this game, you will probably love it. Its best to play it when you have a few hours to yourself with no interuptions to truly get the best out of it. Oh and im still trying to find the PENG Treasure. its driving me crazy!

Xbox 360 Play & Charge Kit (Xbox 360)

Our Price: £10.67
Used Price: £9.00
New Price: £8.99

Review for Xbox 360 Play & Charge Kit (Xbox 360):
A good product if you fit the criteria
This piece of kit does what it says. It provides you with a rechargeable battery and the cable that lets you charge it through your xbox while you play. This is good because if your controller runs out of charge in game you can just plug it in and continue playing as it charges.

This is not the most ideal solution for all however. While charging, your controler is effectively a wired controller and comes with all the drawbacks involved with wired controllers (tangled wires, mess and lack of range especially as the cable is not too long) Thus I recommend that you get the Xbox 360 Quick Charge Kit - White (Xbox 360) for your controllers that are only used for multiplayer and seperate Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack (Xbox 360) for your third and fourth wireless controllers ( the play and charge has one and the quick charge kit has one too) so taht when you need to charge your controllers you dont have them all sticking out of your xbox making a huge mess. This set up means that if you have 4 controllers, only 3 can be charged at a time but if its a problem, replace the last extra battery with another play and charge kit. Sure, its another wire but its cheeper than the quick charge kit for just one. If thats a deal, replacve it instead with another quick charge kit but you will have to pay a bit more but at least you will also be able to charge your main controller when not playing.

This is another issue. You can not charge using this unless the console is on. This is bad for those looking to save energy and do not want to hear that (admit it) load noise your xbox produces all the time when charging. When you turn the console off with the cable plugged in with your controller, the controller will charge at the cost of your xbox still making noise as if its on which is dissapointing and irritating.

To summerise, the play and charge kit is great for charging your main controller as you play but the fact that it betrays the point of a wireless controller to do so means that its not the best option for all your controllers unless your existence concists of playing 4 player games for rediculessly long periods of time where you need to be able to have them all charging while they are playing all the time which betrays the point in having wireless controllers instead of the cheeper Xbox 360 Wired Controller for WINDOWS PC ones.

So with all the problems, why has this got 5 stars? And also, what is with the title of this review?

Look at it this way. for £3 more than just the battery on its own, you are getting the battery and a cable that lets you charge it while playing which is cool and usefull even though it does not suit all charging needs. It also looks cool and fits with the theme of the xbox 360 console and accessories as well as being an official microsoft product which is good if you have a dislike of third party products (like i do).

In conclusion, if you have read this review and think that this product fits your needs, there is no reason not to buy it.

Pure (Xbox 360)

Our Price: £19.97 & this item Delivered FREE in the UK with Super Saver Delivery. See details & conditions
Used Price: £17.99
New Price: £19.97

Review for Pure (Xbox 360):
Lots of ATV fun. Just needed split-screen offline multiplayer mode.
"Pure" is an ATV-racing game, but it is not a simulator, as you can perform stunts in the game that would be either stupidly dangerous or impossible in real life (hence the warning when you first load the game not to imitate the tricks depicted within).

Before you race you must go to the Garage and use one of the available ATV slots (you can unlock more in the World Tour mode as you progress) to build a vehicle from the ground up using various parts. Different combinations and parts will affect things such as handling, speed, acceleration and how adept the ATV is at performing tricks, whereas other parts (such as the style of handlebars or even the shape, colour and motifs on the ATV) are purely cosmetic. You can either design an ATV part by part manually, or you can do a Quick Race or Quick Freestyle design where the console picks a part for you depending on the discipline you are designing for. You can amend your designs at any point between races, so if you unlock new parts or different upgrades then you can apply them to any ATV by visiting the Garage.

There are three race disciplines in"Pure": Race, Sprint and Freestyle. In Race mode you simply race against opponents while making the most of jumps to perform tricks to fill up the Thrill Bar on the right. To do a trick you simply press A (or B or Y once the Thrill Bar is high enough) together with any direction on the Left Stick, and you can preload a jump by holding down on the Left Stick then pressing up just as you leave the ground; this will give you more height, and thus more time to perform tricks. You can also use the X button to give your ATV a speed boost, although doing so depletes your Thrill Bar. You also lose some of your Thrill Bar every time you crash.

As well as the A, B and Y tricks, if you completely fill up the Thrill Bar you can perform a Special Trick by boosting just before a big jump (many of these jumps have twin torches either side of the apex of the hill from which you jump), preloading and, when airborne, pressing both bumpers together with any direction on the Left Stick. This will completely fill your Thrill Bar again if you successfully do the stunt and land without hitting the ground in mid-trick.

In Sprint mode it's similar to Race, only the tracks are much shorter and jumps you can use to boost your Thrill Bar are few and far between.

In Freestyle your position compared to your opponents is decided, not by your relative position to them on the course, but by what score you can accumulate by doing as many tricks as possible. The more complicated tricks are worth more points, and you must keep doing tricks to avoid losing fuel more quickly (Freestyle is the only discipline in which fuel needs to be taken into account). There are various icons scattered around the track: some will double your score for tricks you do within a short time of driving into the icon, some give you more fuel, others allow you to instantly access a special trick, and another allows you to immediately increase your Thrill Bar to the next available jump style (e.g. if you only had A accessible before you picked this up, it would take your Thrill Bar to B). If your fuel depletes completely the race is over and the person with the highest score wins the event.

"Pure" is an incredibly exciting and fun game to play. The graphics and sound are absolutely sumptuous (notice how your character gets muddy as you ride through the mud sections!), and you really get some good views when you shoot off the apex of a big jump as you hear the air whistle. The game plays really well, too, although sometimes the stick control is not always as precise as you would like it to be when doing stunts (you don't get as much boost if you inadvertently duplicate a trick).

Other gripes with the game include the track occasionally being hard to follow (there's no on-screen map of the track), either by it being too dark because it's in the shade from the sun, or through what looks like a jump actually being a mountain. Another thing that is a shame is that the game has no offline multiplayer mode, which is a shame as a two-player split-screen would have been a lot of fun.

Online you can race against up to fifteen other players in either Race, Sprint or Freestyle events. This mode is every bit as enjoyable as the offline equivalents, although I would recommend that you play the World Tour for long enough to unlock later engine classes such as A or B before taking it too seriously or you will be left standing if you're only at engine class D (the first and only one available to you when you start playing)! (There is an Achievement that you will unlock if you somehow defeat a class-A opponent with a class-D ATV, though!).

What"Pure" does, it does very well, and is different enough to help it stand out from other, more run-of-the-mill driving games.

Review for Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway (Xbox 360):
You just get the feeling that it was rushed...
Like many other people who have reviewed this game, I was excited at the prospect of this after seeing the development footage. I was even content with the constant reschedule of the release date, hoping that Gearbox were tweaking the product. In hindsight, after completing the game I am really disappointed.

It's not the just the average graphics (for a next-gen console, they are pretty standard), poor AI and clumbsy controls (take a lesson from the Rainbow Six Las Vegas series if you're going down this road) - the gameplay and levels are just so linear.

In a time when developers are exploring the whole 'immersion' aspect of gaming, there's only one way of completing a mission. That smacks of the likes of COD and more gun-ho titles, not a 'squad-based tactical shooter' as this game claims to be. Why not give you full access to the entire map and have you make battle plans and decide how you will complete the object rather than have someone else determine it for you.

Couple this with the poor squad command programming mentioned by others and you get the feeling that this title was rushed - money for old (and somewhat tatty) rope.

When you look around and see that with the £40 you spent buying this game could have been put towards a shooter like Bad Company or Farcry 2 you are left scratching your head as to why you parted with it in the first place. I don't mean to be overly critical of this game, there are moments that are genuinely enjoyable, but that's about it - it doesn't leave you wanting to come back for more in a hurry. Gearbox's press releases had them announcing 'destructive cover' and 'MG and bazooka teams' as if they were unheard of in the past. In reality, you can turn a wooden fence in to splinters with a machine gun and have an MG team pin the enemy and use your bazooka team to destroy selected cover - hardly ground-breaking.

This was meant to be Gearbox's piece de resistance - instead they've had a taste of their own medicine and been 'outflanked' by other, more creative titles.

Review for Lips (Xbox 360):
Fun fun fun
First of all this game is a lot of fun. It has a great song collection of 40 songs on the CD (41 if u download A-Ha's 'take on me' which is free) with hits like Leona Lewis's Bleeding Love and Blondie Call me. There are enough songs to suit everyone. You can sing alone or there is co-op or Vs modes. In co-op mode it lets you sing the high or hard parts of parts of the song while the other person sings the backing, so you sometimes are singing at the same time especially during the chorus which is nice. In vs. you both sing the entire song, trying to earn the most points to beat each other! We only have 2 mics but it is possible to have up to six people singing together.

What i like most about this game is the options. The wireless mics have lights which can be set to a variety of colours (we picked the pink and purple colours) which is a cool touch. The lights can be set to flash in time with rhythm or other options. The moves can be a bit confusing and hard to do at the same time as singing, but we'll get used to them, and they are very funny when you're playing with other people! In addition there is an option to turn the voice of the singer down either a little bit 'soft' (so you can have a little help lol) or turn it down a lot 'hard' which means the singers voice can barely be heard, and you are left with the backing track. This can also be done on songs you upload from your MP3 player.

A great feature of this game is the ability to load songs from my MP3 player or hard drive into Lips. So if your favourite songs are not on the game you can put them on yourself. This extends the life of the game greatly. It doesn't have the lyrics on screen but if you already know the song its fine, and if not you can get the lyrics from lyrics websites online yourself. The game manages to score you even on your MP3 songs. You can also download songs from xbox live.

Another fun feature is the time bomb or the fighters. In time bomb you have to sing well which fills up your cup with water and tilt the mic to pour the water on the bomb's fuse before it explodes. The fighter mode can get quite competitive. You must sing well to get into the spotlight, and eventually you can elbow the other singer off stage lol! There are other modes we have not tried yet.

On the downside I cannot figure out how to enter more than one account while playing the game, so all xbox achievements earned seem to be going to one person which doesn't seem fair!

Overall Lips is a fun game and the wireless flashy mics and options make it a great game.

Put simply if you liked either lego star wars or lego indiana jones, or in my case both then you will like lego batman, not much has changed, the hero suits are a nice addition and in my opinion the vehicle levels seem a bit more well planned, there isn't really a story but a mini-boss at the end of each level is good fun. The graphics are standard for the series and there is loads to unlock and great with a friend. So if lego games are your thing then you can't go wrong with this installment

Review for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (Xbox 360):
Flawed but still worth it...
Personally i bought this game purely and simply because i love star wars and i especailly love the games. With that in mind i still love the game. The idea behind it is good the story isn't too bad(though its not the awe inspiring link between EP III and IV that people tote it as). The graphics could probably be better for the console power behind it but the locales are still gorgeous to look at especially the wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk. To be honest its everything i expected it to be though which is good.

The bad part is though that its still fundamentally flawed by the same things that make many close combat games annoying. The fiddley close combat is made all the more worse by the fact that you can't block properly if your getting hit and there are several enemies within the game that are designed with one thing in mind and thats to swamp you with hand to hand weapons and just take it in turns to hit you with combos you can't block. I died several times playing this game from the most simple of things as i just couldnt possibly escape the corner id been pushed into. Exploding ranged attacks always seem to knock you over and then just the split second before your completely up again you get hit and knocked over again. And the targeting system for the force grip seems to only work when the game wants it to i spent valuable seconds in several fights waving the camera back and forth jsut trying to get a lock on a box to help my fight out a little and usually ended up dead for my sins. The camera system itself is annoying as nine times out of ten when firing lightening at an enemy it misses at the crucial moment because the camera is at a slight angle and doesnt adjust quickly enough.

However when these things do work and don't get in the way as they all seem to only a the most important moments this is a brilliant game. I'm literally playing my second play through as i write this and once you have all the powers the early levels are definitly a lot more fun overall.

This is definitly a hit or miss game, you either love it or hate it im afraid.

Call of Duty 2 with modern weapons
If you love the same gameplay as before with poor physics and laggy online then you'd love this. The only good thing is that the games story is average but other than that this game is very behind in features for it's generation, no cooperative play, no custom games where you can create your own game types or even any form of map editing.

The game is just a basic shooter that offers nothing new to the table, if you wish to play a game which uses the best of Xbox Lives functions then buy Halo 3, Far Cry 2, Forza Motorsport 2, FIFA 09, Fable 2 or Gears of War 2.
